She was the lone woman worker in the town saloon. Used to dealing with drunks, unruly boys, livestock, anything and still she is a hopeless romantic.

When she finds out Adam lied to her, she literally puts him out. LITERALLY. Turns him down on their own wedding night and he literally almost sleeps in a tree.

She turned 7 rowdy, loud, messy, disastrous men into pristine Michael Kidd dancing studs.

When they kidnap the town women, she throws them out of the house and makes them sleep in the barn with the horses.

She makes NO effort to get Adam back until he realizes the horror of what he has done, despite still loving him with every breath.

If he didn’t come back you know damn well she’d have done a perfectly proper job of raising that baby AND running the farm single handedly.

In other words, she is a complete badass. A rare exception in the mega technicolor movie musicals of the golden age.
