Julia Pchelkina was, sadly, one of bubble’s greatest failures — despite having great deal of potential in first arch, she ended up being a mere plot device, awkwardly standing out among deep and well-developed characters of MG universe; but her demise hit me the hardest in infamous 33rd issue.

Many people grieved for Oleg Volkov the most, but I wasn’t too upset, as I expected it to happen. This page is very telling — Oleg looks away and gives in, Sasha is hit with realization and is certain of her death, but Julia’s expression is filled with hope, and so are the readers — this misdirection is painfully brilliant, and is the main reason why I was flat-out devastated when Julia was killed.
