(it isn't "my" fandom, but I'm already seeing lots of people call "Isn't She Lovely" the "Jax Song", and also talk about June 19th being "The Circus Anniversary" every year... it's already an important day, it's Juneteenth. I've also seen some absolutely appalling behavior aimed at Black people who who are rightfully upset. I really really REALLY don't want to come off as being preachy, from atop a high-horse, on a soap-box, on a pedestal, or sound as if I'm the authority on all things, because I am NOT... but I keep seeing this happen, and it feels dismissive to not acknowledge it all. please, there is a BIG problem with appropriating Black culture in real life and in fandoms, there is a BIG problem with repeating racist attitudes and actions while trying to use "ignorance" as "innocence" and refusing to stop, there is a BIG problem with using fandoms as "escapism from reality to just have fun" but being so unwelcoming and even harmful to Black people that they suffer no matter where they go. there is a BIG problem everywhere, in life, with treating Black people like they don't matter, and attacking them when they speak up about it. the fact that a lot of people have been trying to explain-away these and other issues by acting like it "isn't a big deal"... it isn't our place to excuse or forgive. we aren't the ones being hurt, and Black people expressing frustration or anger at these things doesn't turn into hurt against us. we have to be open to hearing when we're doing something wrong, and remember that REAL people are more important than fiction)

UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.
