though for the basket I learned a new stitch following the Starlight Basket pattern by Toni Lipsey.
Modifications:
4 increase rounds for the sunflower bases
For the petals: 5 sc between them (starting the first petal round with 1 ch, 2sc). Then in the second petal round, into the ch4 loop: 5dc, 1 tr, 1 picot, 1 tr, 5dc, sk 2, sl st in third st; rinse and repeat.
Basket with dc base as per pattern, but 4 inc rounds. I would prefer a more sturdier base in hindsight, so maybe hdc or sc would've been better.
For the basket sides I followed the above mentioned pattern, i.e. alternating waistcoat stitch and BLOsc. The waistcoat stitch is somewhat fiddly as you finagle the hook between the two "legs" of the stitches from the previous round. But it's very much worth it! It's sturdy and it looks really nice! Perfectly basketly!
For the basket leaves: same starting round as with the sunflower petals. Then in the second round: 4 dc, 1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr, 4 dc, sk 2, sl st in third stitch; repeat.
Spitballing with the fellas on discord and we've come up with a Star Trek character we want to see: A 200-year-old top Vulcan diplomat attending a function and laughing boisterously and slapping backs with everyone and then just relaxing into resting bitch face the moment nobody is watching him. The worst-sounding piece of advice I've ever been given that does actually work is to frame your health concerns as coming from someone close to you, whom you do not believe. Tell your doctor that you've been having pain and your mom/friend/partner thinks it might be an ovarian cyst, but you don't think so because the pain is much more intense and it has to be something else. This gives your doctor an unseen third party to fight instead of you. They can't just tell this third party, who isn't present, that you pulled a muscle, they now need to prove to this third party that it is not an ovarian cyst.
At which point they will find an ovarian cyst, but they now get whatever fucked up satisfaction they derive out of proving you wrong, because you didn't believe it could a cyst at all, but guess what? They did find a cyst! It's such a good thing you didn't listen to your intuition and came to them to verify your lay diagnosis from that third party! Bonus? Doctor doesn't have to feel like they look stupid in front of a patient, which is really what all this is about. Not your health, why would you think your medical diagnosis is about your health? It's obviously about a doctor's potential ego.
And apparently this works. Apparently you just need to be able to always play 4D chess with your medical professionals in order to find an avenue of advocating for yourself and getting you medical needs met. Isn't that great?

Yuu: “You ride a horse? Don’t you just kinda fly or teleport everywhere?”
Malleus: “You are correct to assume that mounts of any kind are indeed quite pointless for a dragon such as myself. However, upholding tradition entails participating in numerous, equally pointless ceremonies. Thus I have learned to ride mounts of all sorts since I was little.”
Yuu: “Right, upholding tradition is important.”
Malleus: “Quite so.”
Yuu: “Say, Hornton… Let’s say you’re a member of the equestrian club. Hypothetically. Does that mean you’ll… be forced to look like this everyday?”
Malleus: “Forced? Well, this is their uniform… So I would be required to dress like this, yes.”
Yuu: “So hypothetically… I’ll get to see your ass in full view like this everyday.”
Malleus: “??? Ass? Ah, you mean a donkey? The equestrian club does not have donkeys.”
