the sun has no business tapping out at the tender hour of 5pm bitch i have depression
āif youāre not angry youāre not paying attentionā used to be such a powerful phrase but now itās more accurate to say āif youāre not angry youāre probably exhausted by 5+ years of Panic Outrage Mode and are nearing the limit of your emotional range for reacting to this shitā
The fact that this is pre-covid haunts me
Will I die for you? Yes. Will I turn subtitles off for you? No.
Couldn't be me crying on a boat in the middle of the Pacific because I picked horrific travel companions š¤š»

I had a surreal experience while putting my laundry away.
āWe wouldnāt have to deal with the Delta variant if it werenāt for a bunch of uneducated people refusing to get their vaccineā
No, we would still have had to deal with the Delta variant, because neither Trump nor Biden showed any interest in distributing US vaccine stockpiles internationally during the early months when it could have had the greatest impact in dampening Deltaās spread throughout India. Public health experts explicitly warned policymakers at the time that this vaccine nationalism would enable the global spread of variants. But this explanation doesnāt let anyone in America feel superior to anyone else, so it wonāt catch on

My brain, still to this day, every single time:
If Goldilocks tried three beds, then Momma Bear and Daddy Bear slept separately. Baby Bear is probably the only thing keeping the family together.
You aināt have to put those people business out like that.
Yāknow, the story straight-up tells us why Mama Bear and Papa Bear sleep in separate beds: they have very different needs in terms of mattress firmness, and those fancy responsive mattresses that can be soft on one half and firm on the other hadnāt been invented yet. Thereās no shame in valuing your spinal health.
The fact that theyāre secure enough to admit that theyāre better off in separate beds probably indicates that they have a very healthy relationship built on a foundation of mutual love and respect.Ā
their relationship was just right

So how do you tell your therapist you want to die without freaking them out?
in addition to the fact that people just have different natural rhythms, a big reason why we canāt seem to go to bed as early as weĀ āshouldā is that nighttime is, for many of us, our safest and most fulfilling time of day. we donāt have to work, we wonāt be contacted by bosses or insurance companies or collection agencies or other suffocating life business⦠weāre likely only to be contacted by our friends, or by no one at all. night time is release; itās ours. we can rest or recreate. we can do things we actually want to do. who would choose to cut that short?? just to usher in the next morning when our lives are not our own again? nighttime is precious and nothing could be more normal than the desire to embrace this
So, yāall remember that post that said animals in urban areas slowly became nocturnal to avoid encounters with humans? Apparently that includes humans.
I keep forgetting that NT people donāt do math the same way people with ADHD do it until I try to explain my thought process and get weird looks from people who are likeĀ āhow the FUCK did you do that?ā
whoops
and for those of you who DONāT know what Iām talking about Iāll give you an example
42 + 29 = 71
for neurotypical people, they use the method we were all taught in grade school where you add 9 + 2 to get 11 and then move the extra one over to make 4 + 2 + 1 which equals 7 to give you 71
but the way I do it (as many other people with ADHD as Iāve come to find out) is this:
okay so you have 42 + 29. if you take 1 away from 42 and give it to 29 to make it an even 30, you now have 41 + 30 which is an easy 71
or, another problem: 53 + 88
round that 88 up to 90 and take the two from 53 so you have 51 + 90. but wait I can make this easier. take 10 more from 51 to make 90, 100 and now you have 41 + 100 which equals 141
itās justā¦so much faster? and makes so much more sense to me
also? the math teachers that always took off points for kids not showing their work?
fucking HATED that. as someone who could get from point A to point D in my head in a split second, I felt like showing my work was often a waste of time when sometimes it felt like I just automatically knew the answer
or, if I didĀ put down my work, I went through a process that wasnāt taught and would get points reduced anyway because it wasnāt the way we were taught just because my brain worked differently than the rest of the class. my answer was always right. they just didnāt like how I got it
never did like that muchĀ
also, this is another way of doing it that I just saw on facebook that Iāve also done before
because I do things to that extent too
so if you give me something like 37 + 45 Iāll goĀ āwell 30 + 40 is 70 and 7 + 5 is 12 so 70 + 12 is 82ā³
thereās justā¦so many ways to do math that make more sense than the way I was taught
this post got a lot more popular than I was expecting wow
Iāve seen some people reblogging this saying they donāt have adhd but have autism and yes! People with autism do this too! Iāve learned that a lot of people with adhd and/or autism do things that overlap and this is one of them!
iām sorry but these are the only valid tags on this post
This is ⦠how I math ā¦
