Alright, I've been seeing a lot of questions and issues with LQG's characterization floating about lately. And it inescapably reminds me of the things that bug me. (Several of which are the same things floating around, tbh.) So I gotta get out one that no one else has mentioned yet.
The widespread tendency to write LQG with a stubborn and sometimes almost delusional conviction that he can defeat LBH in a fight.
I can only assume this comes from the fact that he kept fighting LBH for five years and then again at CQMS, and then offered to keep fighting him for SQQ's sake. But it's not correct? Like, at all?
Canonically, openly admits that he can't defeat him!
The goal of the five years wasn't even really to defeat LBH in the first place; the goal was getting back SQQ's body, fighting LBH was an unavoidable side effect. Then it was defending his sect. Then it was defending SQQ.
Liu Qingge is not a man who will only pick a fight he believes he can win. He's strict. He's principled. Sometimes you have to fight for things even if you might lose, because those things need to be fought for. And honestly I think it's a disservice both to LQG's character and the depth of the narrative itself to treat those fights as something he expected to win despite all evidence to the contrary.
this moment basically cemented Liu Qingge as my favorite character because he's not egotisitical, he's smart and calculating and he doesn't always just rush in. I've said this several times too but he's keenly aware of his own limits and he's not hot headed or reckless. Also it's just genuinely so refreshing and sexy to see the War God openly explain that he's no match for Binghe and yet tried every single day to get SQQ back. He never wavered, never doubted his own strength, he held his head high and faced the very man he lost against time and time but it's the fact that he TRIED to get SQQ back every. single. day for 5 years. There is so much tenderness and loyalty in the act of it alone, there is so much bravery and strength in his resolve alone. It was never abt his fights with Binghe, it was a love language of sorts, the love, respect and loyalty that Liu Qingge has for SQQ, it was a demonstration of his character too!!!

The true answer is "why not both," but I love the angel mimic idea so much omfg
I need to see that man with wings!!!!!
Massive, glowing white wings that are so bright that they hurt to look at, with feathers that are sharp as razors. In fact, make his eyes glow too!!!! GIVE HIM MULTIPLE SETS OF WINGS!!! Give him a halo of pure qi energy that he can use as a weapon or shield!!!!
And since he's an angel "mimic", maybe his species evolved to have a mild hypnotic ability, a siren-like quality which is why even though he SHOULD look terrifying, his actual face is beautiful, and he has a passive ability to subtly draw you in. You're petrified, but you can't look away...
Liu Qingge would do so well in a shounen anime I swear. Put that man in JJK or Naruto, he'd thrive. The perfect rival character for a protag. Very "let us reach the heights of skill and power together, friend" energy. Living in a universe where The Power of Friendship is a legitimate source of energy would make him genuinely unstoppable
Oh absolutely. And that's even more shounen anime of him tbh.
Liu Qingge would square up with a villain ready to kill him and the guy would just be like "whoa hey wait I don't want to be a villain anymore. I'm really sorry actually, my bad y'all" and Liu Qingge would just go "oh shit for real? Hell yeah, brother. Here's your redemption arc. 🫴🎁 I am now willing to die for you." And that'll be it, redeemed villain friend acquired. Don't let anybody say something negative about his new pal, or it's hands (unless they apologize and also become a Cool New Friend).
His Power of Friendship skill increases by exponent, so having a new buddy on board would actually make him way stronger during big boss battles where he has to remember All the People That are Counting On Him™.
This would also work in reverse kinda, where his friend was Secretly A Villain This Whole Time or Falls To The Darkness and Liu Qingge would just nod and go "ok. I understand. I will now beat some sense into you and save you from your bad decisions and then we can be friends again. Don't move" and then rock the villain's shit so hard he reaches enlightenment and stops his villainy. And then they'd walk into the sunset together or something.

I feel as though there's a lot of mischaracterization of canon liu qingge where he's watered down to angry, hot headed dumb guy that's all just muscle.
he's not an angry person by nature at least he's not described as such. every single time he's been angry in the novels was always justified and within realm of reason given that he was kept in the dark for a lot of situations he was being dragged into bcs sqq would involve him in some way or another.
he's protective of sqq and rightfully so, the guy has damaged meridians that make his qi act up or rather, lack thereof, there was a disease infested town they went into where he claimed his disciple is back and lusting to spill his blood, he was framed by demons, he was publicly slandered, he was sent to prison, he escaped and was framed again??? his disciple is insane and for some reason sqq keeps going back to him? he DIED and his disciple kept his body??? and he fought for 5 years just to be kept in the dark abt his return and then watch him leave WIRH HIS FUCKASS DISCIPLE BRO???? GIVE HIM A BREAK I WOULD BE PISSED OFFFFFF
not to mention maigu ridge and finding him all bloody and passed out with luo binghe, the blood dripping down his legs like anything could've happened he doesn't know. to LQG it probably seemed like SQQ was just trying to "tame" binghe at his own expense, he probably felt at least a bit responsible for SQQ always slipping through his fingers, SQQ never knew what happened when he was dead, LQG had to be there after his death, and they never even got to talk abt it. and then he just leaves with binghe by the end of it? ofc he had to protect sqq ofc he was angry with binghe all the time, ofc he was annoyed and bothered by the fact that binghe was always top priority and sqq never put himself first, it didn't matter to LQG if binghe was nice or in love with SQQ, he was greatly capable of inflicting harm on SQQ and he Did several times while still claiming he loved SQQ. how could LQG trust either of them?
not a single moment where he was unjustly upset or pissed off, it was like he was baby sitting half the time. that abd maybe he just has a resting bitch face 😔
I've been obsessing over LOL lore on Arcane characters, as well as the Flare Episode™ , when (during a re-watch) a particular line caught my attention. When Silco called Vi "the prize of her family". Obviously he doesn't care about her now and mentions how Jinx is "so much more", but that led me to imagine what would've happened that night if the trap wasn't just to eliminate Vander's kids and any other supporters, but specificially to target Vi?
Remember, Silco isn't a muscle guy. He has to hire people to put in the physical work. And sure, he has Sevika, and even Mek, and probably others, but Vi managed to take down several of them (including Mek) by herself at 15. Clearly, she was exceptional, even in a place filled with brawlers like her. Not just that, but she's Vander's kid, his prodigy, his prized pup. He wanted Vander back, sure, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to put all his eggs in one basket. He had to have considered the idea that he'd refuse.
Taking all that into consideration, Vi would seem like a gift that was practically handed to him gift-wrapped on a silver platter. Here's a kid who's strong- very strong, enough so to defeat adults twice her age single-handedly. She's hot-headed, and would absolutely run into danger without thinking. Not only that, but she's Vander's shining star, who's young and impressionable and- because he absolutely would've done his homework - was very vocal and argued often with Vander about how they shouldn't be living on their knees and taking Topside's shit anymore. It wouldn't just be ironic, it would fucking destroy Vander to see Vi at Silco's beck and call.
He probably already knows she won't just flip sides. She's just like Vander in that way, which would be both infuriating and a blessing to him, since that means one thing: it would be difficult, but she'd make the perfect weapon. Even if his plans had to change and adapt over time, from the beginning he needed a secret something to weaponize against Piltover so Zaun would actually stand a chance, and better yet, win, in a war between the two. I think he initially planned that to be Vander, whether or not he agreed to join him again- otherwise, he would've disposed of him immediately, I think- but with everything else in mind, what if he decided Vi would be the next perfect candidate?
Sure, she's not the strongest (Sevika was still stronger), but she was still talented and had room to grow, since she was so young. And because she's young, she's also much more moldable. Sevika and Mek and Vander are adults, and even with Sevika and Mek being loyal to him, they all have their own motives and agencies. Adults can betray him- two have already proven it, with Sevika flipping on Vander for Silco and Vander flipping against Silco. Adults are also more... Rigid. Harder to mold, to break. Their minds are more set, values defined. But kids? Well, we've seen it with Jinx. Compared to adults, kids are easy.
So, he can't have Vander. But he can get his daughter. It would be too much trouble and frankly, too much of a waste to mess with the mind of someone like Sevika. Her value to him is more than just her muscle. To reduce her to a weapon would be a loss. But Vi... He doesn't know her. She holds no value to him. So it wouldn't be a loss if, say, he sent her to Singed to do whatever he thought necessary to make her... cooperate.
Because if there's one thing he does know about anyone who's anything like Vander, it's that she wouldn't be convinced easily. Especially not with that sister running around. He might have to take drastic measures. According to LOL lore, Vi's initial backstory was that she had amnesia and therefore remembered literally nothing about her life before being Caitlyn's partner- not even her real name, since she named herself Vi after the tattoo on her cheek. Which was part of why her and Jinx have such a tenuous relationship in-game. Vi doesn't remember her. She doesn't know Jinx is her sister. And while Jinx seems to know something, it's unclear if she realizes Vi is her sister or just someone who looks like her and she therefore becomes attached to her. It probably doesn't help that Vi is presumably going under a new name.
So perhaps a result of Singed's persuasion includes forgetting a few things. Like her name. And her childhood. And her family. Perhaps, by the end of it, she's practically a blank slate, free of any pesky morals or loyalties to Silco's enemies or childhood memories that could prevent her from obeying him. It would take time, and probably money too, and most definitely lots of shimmer. But by the end of it, he'd have the perfect weapon. One that he'd rear himself. One that would be absolutely and unquestionably loyal to him and only him, so he would never have to worry about being betrayed. Not like Sevika. Not like Vander, who proved that even brothers could turn on one another. This one was loyal to a fault. This one didn't hesitate to do what needed to be done- for Silco, for Zaun. This one was obedient. This hound, he could bring to heel.
But of course, there's a problem.
He can't destroy Vi entirely. Not if he wants a functioning weapon. The point of the trouble is to secure a weapon that already comes with its own skills. He'd have to hone them, but it wouldn't make sense to outright destroy years' worth of progress and rebuild it entirely. Which means they can't cleanse her mind as thoroughly as they'd like with shimmer. So there are pockets in her mind. Pockets of stray thoughts and fleeting emotions and vague, fuzzy outlines of memories. Like sudden homicidal rage at the sight of Silco's face, or inexplicable bouts of grief, or the strange and confusing impression that she wasn't used to sleeping alone. Or blue hair.
Vi remembers blue hair. She doesn't know whose blue hair, or why, or anything else to do with that picture. Just pretty blue hair, and the feeling of warmth whenever she sees it. It haunts her, even in the daytime. It stalks her in her sleep, and she often wakes up with a racing pulse and heavy heart, even as she's immediately unable to remember the dreams.
It doesn't affect her work performance usually, but she's not good at hiding it either. And while Silco is certainly a villain, and wouldn't care for Vi in the same way he cares for Jinx in canon, at this point he's invested so much time and effort into Vi for him to not at least value her now. Vi's always had a good heart at the core of her character, and somehow I can imagine even shimmer and brainwashing might not fully destroy that. Maybe her goodness might disgust him at first, but before he realizes it, he grows attached.
Maybe it's the way she handles him with care despite her obvious strength, making sure not to grip him too hard when he needs help standing or something. Maybe it's the eagerness for his approval. Maybe it's the way she cracks jokes with him or checks to make sure he slept or ate recently. But eventually, Silco looks at Vi and sees- not quite a daughter, but not a pet anymore either. Maybe it's something closer to the way an artist loves the piece they worked the hardest on. Or simply their favorite work.
So when he finds out about the dreams, the fleeting thoughts of blue hair, he knows he needs to do something before someone ruins his masterpiece. Silco remembers Vi had a sister. Or more like, he remembers Vander had several street rats under his roof, and Sevika remembers one of them was a little girl with blue hair. At this point, there's been too much shimmer pumped into Vi to safely add more. So he needs to find another solution. And as we've all already realized, Silco doesn't have the best way of handling people's trauma. And he knows if he's not careful, there's a possibility of all of his hard work being undone. He needs a solution that will close the door on that part of her life forever. So instead of telling her to talk about it or even just put it behind her, Silco decides to get her a gift.
It would probably take a few months, but with Singed's help and a quick trip to one of the many Foundling homes in Zaun, Silco approaches Vi one day with a special present just for her. A tiny blue-haired girl. A new little sister, just for her. She can even give her a name. She's allowed to do whatever she likes with her, as long as she keeps her from making a mess of things. Not unlike buying her a puppy, Silco gifts Vi a "younger sister" and watches that chapter of Vi's life close.
Vi stops getting nightmares she doesn't remember. She stops seeing the blue hair. She no longer has to sleep alone, so it no longer bothers her that she used to be unable to sleep because she couldn't hear someone breathing beside her. She commits herself to Silco's cause. Now, you might be wondering where Powder falls into all of this. Where did she go? Did she die? What befell the girl who inadvertently assisted in her family's demise? If you asked Silco, his answer would be that she was dead and gone, never to blow up another one of his plans again. But perhaps that wasn't the case.
Maybe a certain enforcer was just a little too early - or a little too late. Maybe she got up and ran. Maybe she was dead, gone with her brothers and father- or maybe she was somewhere far. Somewhere where the sun could reach, somewhere the skies were as blue as her hair. Somewhere that a certain family might find her shivering outside their home one night and ushers her inside, soon to be amazed by the brilliant little girl that quite literally wound up at their doorstep. Somewhere where she could finally make progress.
Of course, if thats true, then it's only a matter of time before their paths converge again. A grieving sister and a lost one, colliding and sending their lives careening towards- something. Could be destruction. Could be a happy ending. Could be something in between. After all, Vi doesn't know Powder, and Powder would never guess that her courageous older sister was now Silco's prized attack dog. And if they were to meet, if Powder were to discover Vi wasn't as dead as she thought- well, who knows how Powder might feel, to find Vi with another blue-haired girl in tow?
The hero of courage is finally reborn and Hylia is baffled to find it's some little human girl named Coco
Hero Coco going on a Wind Waker-esque journey with a descendant of the last queen of Hyrule, aka Agott, as they try to save their kingdom from The Brimmed Hats
Or alternatively, Coco being a "Zelda" and going on an adventure with Link, traveling through the ruins of what was once Hyrule BOTW-style and rediscovering the lost art of magic 🥹 They'd expand the Sheikah Slate compendium and piece together Link's lost memories and she'd reverse-engineer Zonai tech. Working through puzzles together and collecting korok seeds (just to be disappointed to learn what they really are)
COCO RAISED IN THE OOT KOKIRI FOREST! The witch apprentices all being kokiri (would be funny if Qifrey was the Great Deku Tree)
Toddler Coco finding Minish/Picori in the forest outside her home and learning what magic is 🥹
Lore Accurate Link and his ability to invent new spells the witches have to ban LMAO. In fact, Link being an infamous and controversial figure in witch history for exactly this reason (controversy because he's also usually a pretty swell guy in contrast)
Qifrey being one of Zelda's tutors as a child, and (if BOTW timeline) ends up being the one to inspire her curiosity for the world/magic outside of Hylia's gift, in an effort to help her realize she's more than whatever her bloodline dictates 🥹 The king gets mad at him for letting her focus on anything other than unlocking her power/Other Necessary Princess Stuff, but Qifrey insists on making sure she knows she's capable and worthy no matter what (which probably eventually gets him fired)
Twilight Princess Aggott... Rito Tetia!!! "Zelda" Richeh with absolutely no interest in being Princess!!!
Creepy Mask Salesman is one of the Brimmed Hat members and Majora's Mask is a mask enchanted with forbidden spells that he sells to apprentice Link and/or Coco
Qifrey, Olruggio, and Link as students together and getting into mischief together (Link would still become a controversial figure in the future LMAO)

Of all the things to make my first post. But l have imbibed one too many SVSSS hanahaki fics, the one I read today tipping over into critical mass. My brain, the savage, inconsiderate pile of neurons, spat out Thoughts.
Thought 1: You know what? I love bingliushen as much as the next truther, but also, fuck Bingqiu sometimes.
Thought 2: See thought 1, but with added detail of Shen Qingqiu just fucking off with Binghe without a shred of concern for anyone else or a mention of whether he was ever coming back or not.
Thought 3: Liu Qingge only hits the final tipping point of unrequitedness when SQQ walks away without looking back. He starts coughing up petals, and literally everyone knows who they're for, and literally no one knows if that person will ever even step foot on the mountain again. He chose Luo Binghe. Liu Qingge's picture might be next to the word 'devoted' in the dictionary, but SQQ is not the sole focus of his loyalty. He has a sister and sect siblings and a personal disciple. There are hundreds if not thousands of non-cultivators that would be dead today if not for him. There are hundreds if not thousands more that might die if he allows his life to be cut short now. The War God of Bai Zhan does not live for just himself. He gives himself some time, the amount Mu Qingfang tells him can be spared, to see if SQQ comes back and to come to terms with everything. SQQ doesn't come back.
Liu Qingge gets the surgery.
He forgets.
He forgets the Shen Qingqiu he loved entirely, and because they are so inextricably entangled in his mind, he forgets a lot about Luo Binghe as well.
And something is confirmed that Liu Qingge no longer remembers he has suspected for a long time, because he does not forget the Shen Qingqiu he hated. He doesn't forget Shen Jiu. It both guts YQY and soothes him at the same time.
Thought 4: Maybe LQG starts to fall in love with someone else. Who? There's a lot of options here, he is a pretty, pretty man and I do have a lot of other ships I enjoy him in. But-
Thought 5: Eventually, SQQ and LBH come back. But LQG doesn't look at either of them the same way anymore. These are, of course, two exceptionally stable people with a solid history of good coping skills.
Alright… I keep seeing Liu Qingge slander in fanfics and meta— especially with respect to Shen Jiu— and it’s starting to get on my nerves.
Liu Qingge did not hate Shen Jiu because of a misunderstanding on his part!
Liu Qingge did not assume he was a rich and arrogant young master (I have no idea where this idea came from), nor is there any indication he particularly cared about the brothel visits. He hated Shen Jiu because of his actual behaviors!
Shen Jiu treated him horribly after Liu Qingge beat him in Cang Qiong Mountain’s annual martial arts tournament:
Within Cang Qiong Mountain, the one he undoubtedly hated most was Liu Qingge.
Liu Qingge had achieved success in his youth; his talents were extraordinary, his spiritual energy vast, and his swordplay awe-inspiring. His family background was excellent, and both his parents were alive. Any one of these things would have been enough to make Shen Qingqiu gnash his teeth and toss and turn for three days and three nights, let alone all of them together in one person.
During Cang Qiong Mountain’s annual martial arts tournament, Shen Qingqiu’s opponent had been Liu Qingge. Naturally, the conclusion had been an overwhelming loss on his part.
There was no shame in losing to the future Bai Zhan Peak Lord, or perhaps one should say that this was how it should be. That it was normal.
But Shen Qingqiu would absolutely never think such things. What he saw wasn’t the bystanders’ amazement at how he’d valiantly held out for so long but Liu Qingge’s matter-of-fact arrogance as he held the point of Cheng Luan’s blade inches from his throat.
Qing Jing Peak prided itself on being the gentleman’s peak, and Shen Qingqiu took to playing a gentleman like a fish to water. Yet Liu Qingge was always able to make his rage boil to the surface, to the point that he didn’t bother wasting energy playing nice with his sect sibling.
The thing Shen Qingqiu most often said to Liu Qingge was: “Liu Qingge, I’ll definitely kill you one day!”
SVSSS Volume 4 Chapter 24 Part 4
As Shen Qingqiu had turned a deaf ear to his every plea, Yue Qingyuan found it difficult to speak further. After all, he couldn’t straight-up tell him something like: If you hadn’t used every means to ambush Liu Qingge after the meet in order to teach him a lesson, the two of you wouldn’t fly into a rage at the slightest contact now, nor would you loathe the mere sight of each other.
SVSSS Volume 4 Chapter 24 Part 4
A lot of fanfics have Liu Qingge dragging Shen Jiu out of brothels, but in actuality the only time he confronted Shen Jiu at one was due to Shen Jiu giving a different Bai Zhan disciple a severe beating:
Though conflict often erupted between Shen Qingqiu and Bai Zhan Peak, the conflict this time was truly overblown. A Bai Zhan Peak disciple had gone to this small, remote town for a task, where he had just happened to see a familiar person enter the largest brothel in the area, the Warm Red Pavilion. From top to bottom, Bai Zhan Peak felt the same as Liu Qingge: none of them harbored any goodwill toward Shen Qingqiu. Therefore the disciple had obviously refused to let this chance pass by; he’d directly followed Shen Qingqiu into the brothel, then mocked him for being a hypocrite and actually entering this sort of place, saying that he’d lost face for their entire sect.
After a couple of undiplomatic words, Shen Qingqiu had beaten him severely, leaving him with serious injuries. When this disciple returned to Bai Zhan Peak, he’d run into Liu Qingge. After questioning him, Liu Qingge had been steaming with rage, he had promptly rushed over on his sword for payback, ready to hit Shen Qingqiu back for every blow.
SVSSS Volume 4 Chapter 24 Part 4
So Liu Qingge only interrupted him at the Warm Red Pavilion to get payback on behalf of another Bai Zhan disciple. The text doesn’t mention him making a single comment about the brothel visit itself.
———
The only misunderstanding between the two occurred after their mutual hatred was well established:
In the chaos of battle, Liu Qingge and Shen Qingqiu accidentally pressed their backs together, and their faces simultaneously contorted with looks of revulsion. Shen Qingqiu had already shot out a spiritual blast, which brushed by Liu Qingge’s shoulder as it passed. Liu Qingge, angered, immediately retaliated with a blow.
Great. The entirety of their combat forces were now ignoring the enemy in order to fight amongst themselves.
“Are you blind?” Shen Qingqiu yelled. “What are you hitting?!”
Liu Qingge wasn’t any more polite. “Who hit first? Who went blind first?!”
Shang Qinghua lay on the ground, eyes still rolled back. He had clearly seen when, moments ago, a faint white shadow peeked out from behind Liu Qingge. Shen Qingqiu’s attack had passed Liu Qingge’s shoulder to disperse it.
As he watched, the blows his peers rained down on each other grew fiercer and fiercer, their eyes going red with bloodlust. Forgetting to play dead, he sat up and called weakly, “You guys, don’t fight. Liu-shidi, you misunderstood; in fact, Shen-shixiong was just—”
Shen Qingqiu flung out his hand, and several deep, deep cracks were smashed into the wall by Shang Qinghua’s head. Dust and pebbles streamed down.
“If you’re going to die, then die completely,” Shen Qingqiu said icily. “Don’t change your mind halfway.”
Without another word, Shang Qinghua collapsed and went back to contentedly playing dead.
SVSSS Volume 4 Chapter 26 Part 3
That sounded about right. He had gone to all that trouble to do a good thing, but the result hadn’t met his expectations. But if that was the problem, then he should just go and explain himself to Liu Qingge—just admit he was trying to help him out! But Shen Qingqiu wouldn’t do it.
If you won’t do it, just let me help you explain, thought Shang Qinghua. But Shen Qingqiu wouldn’t compromise his own pride. Maybe he was too embarrassed. People really shouldn’t twist themselves into knots—that’s just self-torture.
SVSSS Volume 4 Chapter 26 Part 3
Shen Jiu absolutely could have explained this misunderstanding, or let Shang Qinghua do so, but he wouldn’t do it!
Liu Qingge does not need to learn not to make assumptions. Shen Yuan was nice to him precisely once and he was perfectly willing to reevaluate their relationship.
Luo Binghe's obsession with Liu Qingge's ass will probably have him shaking and crying like a chihuahua after being told they can't fuck until they're married LMAO. He will immediately just be like "ok let's get married then" and will be DEVASTATED when Liu Qingge and Shen Qingqiu both tell him that's not at all what Liu Qingge meant 💀 he's like "no we're taking it slow" and Luo Binghe will go through the 5 stages of grief in 3 seconds.
Okay but this is the rare case where it's funnier if LQG does know about demon courtship. Because then he gets to complain that first, he's human, and second, the intent of the fight matters; maybe seven months of that were flirting, at best. Five at worst.

My love for seemingly random crossovers (with SVSSS) has been reignited with those ATLA leaks. I know I've made crossover posts for them before but CMOOOONNNNN just LOOK AT THEM.
I know there are different "official" renditions of what Binghe looks like out there but you can't tell me adult Zuko doesn't look at least a LITTLE related to the guy.
My obsession with Liu Qingge specifically has brought this into "how can I make this a ship" territory and LISTEN-!
Somehow. Some way. Maybe he reincarnated or maybe he was punted through a portal but SOMEHOW Zuko ends up there and PLEASE I think him and Liu Qingge had to have at LEAST slept together once(1)!!! It could literally be a "far away from the sect on a mission, meets cute guy at bar and does not assume they'll meet again" situation it literally doesn't have to be complicated but GUYSS somehow it happens and then some time later Bingliu(shen) run into him somewhere (pre-relationship to really make it messy) and they're like
While Liu Qingge tries to escape IMMEDIATELY because he is NOT interested in having this conversation. This is NONE OF THEIR FUCKING BUSINESS!!
Or perhaps Zuko and Liu Qingge really hit it off and he's like "Well maybe this will help me get over them if we date/have a fling" (Zuko is on board) and Zuko even starts showing up at the peak. LBH is FUMING because he's been trying to flirt for WEEKS and then some guy who literally looks like him ("I promise you're cuter!" Shen Qingqiu insists) just swoops in and succeeds in a DAY?! WHAT DOES HE HAVE THAT BINGHE DOESNT?!
I just love making Binghe explode with jealousy idk it's a hobby of mine
I made other posts about this idea, but I'm really starting to like the idea of Mu Qingfang and Zhuzhi-lang, so here's me gabbing about it a little more:
First, it's important to note I'm going off the back of one of my previous posts on Mu Qingfang. Basically I headcanon him as a deeply paranoid guy who joined the medicine peak not just to heal but also to learn poisons (because those are 2 sides of the same coin) because he views everyone stronger than him as a Threat and copes by coming up with ways to eliminate them Just In Case.
So somehow this version of Mu Qingfang runs into Zhuzhi-lang; perhaps Qian Cao originally had a different head disciple that died during the battle where they sealed Tianlang-Jun (or he simply wasn't in attendance), and disciple Mu Qingfang's first meeting with Zhuzhi-lang is in Bai Lu forest, on some kind of trip to Huan Hua. He's researching local flora and then runs into Zhuzhi-lang in his original form. He doesn't freak out or attack; after determining Zhuzhi-lang isn't hostile, he's fascinated by the possibility that he may have discovered a whole new creature. Since he thinks Zhuzhi-lang is just a monster/animal, he's less worried about him being a Threat like humans and demons are. If anything, he's curious if this snake-like being has any useful parts to use for medicines and poisons.
Zhuzhi-lang gains a fixation on this strange human and begins to follow and observe him. As the days pass, he's basically become Mu Qingfang's companion. He's more than happy to allow Mu Qingfang to study him (he practically preens when Mu Qingfang discovers Zhuzhi-lang is venomous, and eagerly harvests venom from him). Eventually, he leads Mu Qingfang to a cave, with glowing mushrooms blooming in the center of a lake...
Alternatively, disciple era Mu Qingfang (pre-sealing of Tianlang-Jun) gets sent to Huan Hua Palace with the other future peak lords on some kind of exchange program/bonding exercise. At some point a couple of Huan Hua disciples show them around the Bai Lu forest.
Mu Qingfang takes it upon himself to wander through the forest alone, looking for cool local plants after hours. Meanwhile, Tianxi is secretly meeting up and occasionally goes through the forest to do so. Zhuzhi-lang, after dropping off Su Xiyan at her window, is still in giant snake form when he stumbles upon a boy that seems to be digging through the dirt.
Mu Qingfang looks up to find two massive glowing snake eyes staring at him in the dark. He does not whip out his sword and attack; his background is such that his instinctive reaction is to freeze, observe, then (upon noting the serpent does not seem hostile) think of how to gain its favor. He offers it one of the blooms he dug up as a treat; its smell was known to be appealing to local reptiles, though it otherwise only had some mild pain-killing properties.
After slowly backing away, Mu Qingfang eventually returns to HHP, unaware that he's gained a new companion, who basically begins to stalk(?) him. Whenever he returns to the forest, he encounters Zhuzhi-lang in some capacity. His basic kindness and casual (trained) friendliness ensnares Zhuzhi-lang, who famously doesn't understand how human politeness works, and soon he's leaving gifts of all sorts in Mu Qingfang's room whenever he has the opportunity. Tianlang-Jun does everything BUT help the situation, as he gets immense joy from watching his nephew go ga-ga over some cultivator boy ("it runs in the family," he crows) and gives him terrible advice from his books.
To avoid this post becoming too long; Mu Qingfang will eventually discover Zhuzhi-lang is not just a demon, but a heavenly demon. He becomes very fascinated upon researching all the things a heavenly demon is known to be capable of, medically speaking. Such a resilient specimen, resistant to all known poisons, insane regeneration rates... this is the closest to hot and bothered Mu Qingfang has ever gotten. Perhaps especially if the timeline follows canon and Luo Binghe is revealed to have both (heavenly) demonic and human spiritual energy, before committing all that fuckshit (kidnapping MQF for 5 years to preserve his teacher's corpse and then almost ending the world til he finally got his dick wet), he may become especially motivated to discover just how invincible heavenly demons truly are...
Of course, poison, like medicine, must be tested to be proven effective. But if the target is a heavenly demon, then the subject must be as well...
Zhuzhi-lang is, of course, all too eager to volunteer himself and his body for all of Mu Qingfang's needs.
