By the way, their teams are based on their pony counterparts, I just used I used artwork of the EQG versions of the girls so they looked more like Pokémon trainers.

Twilight:

Galarian Ponyta (Partner Pokémon) = It is literally a little pony... plus it's a unicorn)

Goodra = To represent Spike

Hoothoot = Represents Owlicious

Starmie = It's purple, and it's star-shaped like Twilight's cutie mark.

Uxie = I feel like a princess would have a Legendary, and considering Twilight's book smarts, why not the Knowledge Pokémon?

Clefable = I feel like a winged, fairy Pokémon from the moon (presumably) fits Twilight well, given her wings, magic, and the fact that she's associated with space often.

Rarity:

Diancie (Partner Pokemon) = Rarity would absolutely want the Jewel Pokémon. Yeah it's a mythical, but Rarity's all about being unique, she'd find a way.

Sylveon = Its bows and ribbons are very stylish, plus it's a fairy type which fits a unicorn.

Sableye = I imagine she'd run into one whilst looking for gems in a cave. Maybe it'd even be a repeat of the Diamond Dogs situation lol. Granted, it eats gems, but so does Spike and she still likes him.

Glameow = A beautiful cat to represent Opalescence.

Milotic = Milotic is canonically considered very beautiful, Rarity would want it for sure.

Leavanny = The Pokedex says "Upon finding a small Pokémon, it weaves clothing for it from leaves, using the cutters on its arms and sticky silk"... that is so Rarity-coded.

Applejack:

Mudsdale (Partner Pokemon) = It's a ground type and Applejack's an Earth pony. Plus according to the Pokedex it's kicks are incredibly strong, again, just like AJ. Also a lot of farms have workhorses, so even in human AJ's case I think this pick makes sense.

Appletun + Flapple = Do I have to explain these two?

Dachsbun = Represents Winona and Applejack's baking skills.

Miltank = Cows are common farm animals, and Miltank is easily the most iconic cow Pokémon.

Maushold = It's the Family Pokémon. AJ is family-centric so I feel like this Pokémon fits her

Pinkie:

Jigglypuff (Partner Pokémon) = It's pink, it's the Balloon Pokémon, and it likes to sing, just like Pinkie.

Alcremie = I imagine that Pinkie would attain every flavour and combination of Alcremie (and every other food Pokémon honestly), but assume the main one she uses for her team is Vanilla Cream (strawberry toppings). Pinkie, being a baker with a sweet tooth, would absolutely own a Pokémon made of whipped cream.

Totodile = A reference to Gummy, plus it's often depicted hopping and/or skipping, like Pinkie).

Slurpuff = It's another pink dessert-themed Pokémon, it's totally Pinkie-core

Mr Rime = It's only natural the element of laughter would have the Comedian Pokémon.

Blissey = Another pink pokemon, plus as someone who loves to spread joy and laughter, Pinkie having the Happiness Pokémon makes so much sense.

Fluttershy:

Scorbunny (partner) = To represent Angel

A pink Vivillon = In reference to both her name and cutie mark.

Sudowoodo = "I'd like to be a tree"

Ursaring = Flutershy literally has a grizzly bear, plus I think it's a good way to show how she sees cuteness in all animals.

Togekiss = According to the pokedex, it avoids conflict and brings gifts of kindness, very fitting of Fluttershy. Plus it's a flying type.

Polteageist = Fluttershy likes to have tea parties, also since its a ghost there's an implied story of her overcoming her fear to catch it.

(btw I imagine Fluttershy either would or at least try to catch every Pokémon that's basically just an animal)

Rainbow Dash:

Turtwig (Partner Pokémon) = A reference to Tank.

Ho-oh = It's the Rainbow Pokémon, plus it's a flying type. Yeah it's a legendary, but Rainbow Dash would totally aim to catch a legendary, and I like to imagine she would succeed in doing so.

Braviary = According to the pokedex, it's known for its bravery and pride, and it fights for its friends - that's Rainbow Dash.

Jolteon = Stats wise it's pretty fast, and it's the lightning pokemon, like her cutie mark

Altaria = A reference to how pegasi like Rainbow Dash can rest on clouds, plus it's mostly blue like her.
