Just setting fire to everything.
It's strange how two, otherwise innocent, words can produce such bowel knotting levels of terror by simple proximity to each other.
Take "land" and "slide" for example, or "knuckle" and "duster".
And now we can add another such combo
"Sparkling Borscht"
Trying
I love this video so much. This cat, trying so hard to sip like a people. Desperate to sip like a people. Objectively incapable of sipping like a people.
This video contains more insight into how cats form a concept of humans than decades of lab research. A lot of cats are idiots, of course, but this one at least has made the connection that the Humans use the Front Paws for sippies.
And he has also identified the humans as One of Us because he’s actually taken the time to attempt to learn by example instead of the naive cat strat of: stick paw in or stick face in.
Anytime somebody tells you cats can’t really bond with humans (they just want food!), produce this video as evidence. Trusting the example of another species is just a beautiful, wonderful phenomenon. This is not classic conditioning.
Anyway, I love cats.

I just had to draw them
'The very biggest spotty dog that you ever did see.'
Some of the stories are wild.
Hawaii has a goddess with a detachable vagina.
Egypt has some ritual involving a god orgasming into the Nile
Cronus vored his children
Don't even try to put together a list of all the things the Greek pantheon fucked or turned itself into in order to fuck.
Zeus and a swan
among many other things, he was a horny dude
As far as ancient Egypt goes, that ritual involved the Pharaoh jacking off into the Nile every year to keep it fertile and flooding regularly.
Speaking of which, I always wondered how Hapshetsut, a queen who ruled as a Pharaoh in her own right, got around this bit, considering she lacked the necessary anatomy.
The entire Egyptian mythology makes far more sense if you're reading it while intoxicated.
Shit is weird.
Thor dressed in drag to get his hammer back from a frost giant.
What's more, while dressed as Freya he ate an entire ox, multiple whole salmon, all the sweet pastries brought to him and drank entire barrels of mead (I forgot how many).
And the giants were fooled anyway.
Either the Giants were idiots or Freya can put it away.

one of the hardest things to learn as a depressed former Gifted Kid™ is that half-assed is better than nothing. take the 50%, 40%, even 20% job. scrubbing your face is better than not taking a shower at all. picking up your clothes is better than never cleaning. nibbling on some bread is better than starving.
DO THINGS HALFWAY. NOW YOU’RE 100% BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE BEFORE.
One of my college professors used to say “anything worth doing is worth doing poorly.” I didn’t understand that for years because I didn’t do anything poorly, I couldn’t do anything poorly, I had to Do Everything Perfectly.
But brushing your teeth for 30 seconds is better than not brushing them at all when that 2 minutes seems exhausting. Doing ten minutes of yoga is better than 10 minutes of sitting when 30 minutes of cardio sounds impossible. Changing my clothes is good when a whole shower is impossible. Standing on the porch for a few minutes is worth it after being in the house for three straight days because I don’t have the energy to go anywhere.
Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly… because doing it poorly is better than not doing it.
someone please hit me over the head with this post every day for like the next week thanks. a mention, a reblog with text, a message, something.
You must understand that perfectionism isn’t striving for excellence, it’s a crippling fear of being flawed and therefore worth abandonment or punishment. It’s a kind of psychological avoidance. You’re avoiding fear and failure , not embracing the thing you want to do bc if it was about the thing you want to do you’d be fine with partial victory.

Baby sphinx trying to be like mama and waylaying travelers, but all its riddles are completely non-sensical like the ones a 1st grader would tell
I worked at a McDonald's as a cashier in high school and it was during a time when they changed their POS system (point of sale, not piece of shit) so everything was now in a slightly different, less logical place, but I was working 20ish hours a week so I picked it up really quickly
Anyway I was out with my friend in the next town over and we went to a McDonald's because she really wanted an ice tea and we go through the drive through. The man greets us out of the little speaker and asks for our order and she says "Hi! Could I get a large sweet ice tea please?"
Silence.
Longer silence.
And I knew in my heart what was happening.
So I leaned over and said, "It's on page two of drinks, under juice, then the third one down."
Another much shorter silence.
Then:
"What the - how the hell did... Uh. I mean. Thank you?"
And it's been literally ten years but I'm still riding the high from that.

what is the absolute worst coffee table tree*?
*as in, to your knowledge, what is the worst tree one could make a coffee table out of?
[pt: *as in, to your knowledge, what is the worst tree one could make a coffee table out of? ]
Oooh, I have opinions!!!
Firstly, I’d say the manchineel tree, as every part of it is toxic to the point that water runoff from the leaves will burn your skin and that seems like HELL to have to process into something useable
Second, I’d have to say cactus wood, simply because it has so many little holes in it that you’d have to either fill ‘em with something or resign yourself to owning the most inconvenient and dusty table in all of existence
And third I’d say the kaikōmako manawatāwhi, of which I know little of regarding the wood, but is so indescribably rare- as there is only record of one having been found in the wild since discovery- I’d have to reject it on moral grounds alone.
BEHOLD, THE MANCHINEEL CABINET! This thing definitely leads somewhere. Somewhere good, who can say? The wood's horrific properties dissipate as it is thoroughly dried, after which it can be safely sawn. Is it worth getting near one to fell it in the first place? Again, who can say?
COOL FACT!!!!!
