HEREāS SOMETHING THATāS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER:Ā Who knows what at what point really, really matters.
Iāve seen a lot of people giving the Jedi shit for responding with lethal force against the clones, unlike Ahsoka who doesnāt want to kill themābut that ignores that Ahsoka doesĀ redirect their lethal blaster bolts (the straight blue lines, the blue rings are the stun bolts) when they first open fire on her.
It isnāt until Rexās warning allows her to discover the report on Fives and the inhibitor chips, along with seeing Rex trying to fight it, that she realizes this isnāt something the clones just decided to do/were planning to do all along.Ā And itās only thenĀ that she says that she doesnāt want to hurt them, that she orders Rex to only use the stun setting and she starts redirecting their bolts elsewhere.Ā After that point, the only time a clone goes down is when theyāre hit with a stun ring, not a lethal bolt.
But Obi-Wan and Yoda and the other Jedi donāt know about the chips andĀ theyāre in a massively different position from Ahsoka.Ā When they come back to Coruscant itās to turn off the Jedi beacon thatās been activated to call other Jedi home, but itās also because the clones are in their home where their children are.Ā As far as Obi-Wan and Yoda know, there could be surviving Jedi and children still in the TempleāObi-Wan is shocked that,Ā ānot even the younglings survivedā and that theyāre not allĀ dead from blaster bolts, Yodaās voice is breaking as he says that this Padawan wasnāt killed by the clones, which shows he thought thatās what was happening in there.
Ahsoka and Rex only have themselves to gamble with, they can decide to go a riskier route that might get themselves killed, because they know that the clones are still good people and theyāre the only ones that would get hurt.
Obi-Wan and Yoda donāt know that the clones havenāt agreed to this and they donāt know their children are all already dead, they have to leverage those lives against the clones standing between them.Ā And we know that theyāre right that the clones were murdering the children, tooāwe seeĀ them gun down a Padawan in front of Bail Organa.
Ahsoka, when she says she doesnāt want to kill any more of them, is in a massively different position than Obi-Wan and Yoda and the other Jedi because of what she knows about the chips, but when she was in the same position, when she didnāt know?Ā She did the exact same thing as Obi-Wan and Yoda.
This is an absolute tragedy, the clones didnāt deserve this, they are victims of Palpatineās horrible machinations, they are victims in this.Ā But the Jedi didnāt deserve this, either, they didnāt deserve to be betrayed this way and especiallyĀ their children didnāt deserve (as far as Obi-Wan and Yoda knew) to be left to be murdered because the clones stood in the Jediās way.
