There is no wrong way to be a woman. However you are doing womanhood is correct. You cannot fail at being a woman. The one and only deciding factor of whether you are a woman or not is being of the female sex. Everything else is made up gender roles. Live your life how you want to live it.

One thing I can thank the TQ+ community for, is making me so much more comfortable with calling myself homosexual. That word used to be so grating to me, it felt gross and scientific and I only heard it in the context of homophobes spitting it out like it was dirty. Now, it’s powerful. It’s in your face, it’s to the point. And sometimes it feels like the only word truly left to describe gay people that hasn’t been stolen. Gay now means anyone who thinks of themselves as quirky, lesbian now means everyone except homosexual females. But homosexual still means exactly that, and because of how direct and literal of a term it is, it’s nearly impossible to redefine. Sure, Aiden might be “gay” and Lilith might be “lesbian”, but I’m a homosexual and everyone knows exactly what that means, which is why the TQ+ community despises the word so much.

it’s always like ”what someone else does to their appearance doesn’t affect you”. but it does though. that’s how social norms work. if everyone does [x] then [x] will be expected of me too. and i selfishly don’t want a lower salary for not wearing makeup, for not dying my hair when it goes grey, for not getting fillers.

women STOP working like a dog to financially support your bfs/husbands through advanced degrees or passion projects. "he says he'll do the same for me after," that is what they always say and then conveniently there is almost always an excuse why they can't when that time comes. "but when he achieves his goal it will pay off for us both" i know you think you can trust him but it is very common for these men to leave or cheat the second he lands the position he was aiming for. this is the #1 way i see young professional women getting their precious and hard earned resources funneled away from them and into a non-refundable deposit into a man who is not guaranteed to follow through on his promises. This is the oldest fucking trick in the "modern" man's book, please stop falling for it i am begging on my hands and knees

women i know this set up seems reasonable to you because you are assuming your male partner has the same dedication to you as you do to him. in an ideal world this could be a beautiful exchange between two people who support each other's aspirations. however this is almost never how it plays out. men do not have the same selfless supportiveness that you do, they do not vicariously live through your successes the way you do for his. He might say he has this capacity or even really think he does but he does not when push comes to shove. He may be the main character in your world, but in his world he is the main character, you are his supporting character. His wants and needs will continue to come first even after his first goals have been achieved (if he even gets there in the first place).

If you are a woman, you need to learn to be selfish sometimes. You need to get comfortable being perceived as selfish. This is 100% a vital skill in a world that expects and demands you sacrifice yourself for others at every opportunity.

a lot of women denigrate the sciences because they resent their own lack of interest in them. suggesting an intrinsic connection between the sciences and maleness allows them to avoid taking accountability for their own lack of intelligence and discipline so they can continue being unserious under the guise of being in tune with their womanhood or whatever
