Here is a personal headcanon I had playing around in my head and just happened to have been working on owo.

I mentioned in this post [ tomorobo-illust.tumblr.com/post/814965937824464896/see-hi-res-version-here ] that Simon can regenerate body parts now but with side effects. The reason is during the explosion that happened in the canon Iron Lung film, was the same event that caused them to be teleported to the Project Hail Mary universe. During this, the Blood Eel, the seed and Simon fused, both entering his body via his open wounds.

The seed is feeding off of the Blood Eel, keeping them contained and too weak to overpower Simon. However, if the Blood Eel ever dies out, it will start feeding off of Simon next and might end in something similar to the 'Hanahaki Disease' suffering.

Simon is unaware of the sprout within him at the moment. He's more afraid of the possibility of the Blood Eel escaping and destroying Planet Erid and the lives of everyone who saved him.

Simon has his days where his fears and temper gets the better of him, especially regarding the mutation and how he doesn't have control of his own body. He tried to remove all the teeth from his face, but they keep growing back.

Grace does his best to help Simon cope with the changes. Eventually, Simon accepts the teeth are a part of him now. He doesn't like it, but he learns to live with it. On top of growing tired of fighting the mutation, he doesn't want to worry Ryland or put even more burden on him with his problems.

Meanwhile, Grace is relieved Simon isn't hurting himself anymore. Also he thinks the teeth are neat. Weird, but NEAT.

A bunch of sketches I decided I liked them enough to clean up with a bit of colour. I couldn't decide which one I liked with my Simon and the Blood Eel fusion with or without the Last Seed added ouo

Bit of headcanon, if any of you noticed, some new shirts I've added throughout the arts, I think Simon was raised to not waste anything if possible so one of the things he was taught was how to patch clothes/tailor/ repurpose materials. Except, now in Erid, Simon has more freedom to be a bit creative while mending clothes.

I got suddenly inspired when I was relistening to the Pacific Rim OST and pumped out some concept for a Bloody Mary Pacific Rim AU.

I took a LOT of inspiration from pre-existing Jaegers from Pacific Rim and Mass Priduction Eva from Evangelion and mix and matched to try and come up with the Iron Lung and Hail Mary Jaegers.

Grace nervously asked Simon if he can study him, Simon is expecting Grace to totally drop his nice guy-ness and go all evil mad scientist. Strap him down to an examination table and start forcefully drawing blood, cutting off fingers and the works—

But like,, it’s Grace. He can’t say no to Grace.

So Simon agrees. He grates his teeth and prepares for the worst— so when Grace leads him to a comfortable chair, is awkwardly shining lights in his eyes,, all the while asking ‘is this okay?’ ‘Are you alright?’ ‘Should I stop?’ ‘Just tell me if you’re ever uncomfortable, okay?’— Simon short circuits. Immediately.
