Tour De Fleece Day 7
Making good progress as I go (even if I forget to share over here). Really loving how this is turning out!
Tour de Fleece 2026 has begun!
Got lucky and got a lot of fleece to play with for a very good price.
After thinking about it for a few days I decided to spin up the gold fleece first - and I love how it looks!
Looking forward to spinning this up over the next three weeks!

Good people! Gaze upon the leaféd neck warmer i made!
an old shawl design from 2021 while my new shawl rests after blocking; I genuinely love the project weirdness engaging construction, and it’s been moderately popular, but I am, uh, open to any ideas regarding how one wears a circle shawl because have very few. I have one idea, and it’s that you’d just bunch it up and wear it like a really big scarf, because the fabric is light enough to do that.
I wanted to post about this because I know many of my mutuals are avid crafters and I don't know how much attention this endeavour is getting outside of end-of-life spaces-
The Loose Ends Project matches crafters with a project that is unfinished because of death or disability. They offer help with a spectrum of textile mediums in over 80 countries. One project I find particularly lovely: “My mom was making this octopus for me. She was 67 years old when she passed away from COPD. She was hospitalized for pulmonary rehab several times and would always take it to work on while she was there and loved to talk about it with people."
(the red heart marks the last stitch made by this person's mom) Anyway, if something like this is something you'd like to be involved in, they are always looking for more crafters <3
My favourite recent finishing project that they posted about wasn't precisely something that the crafter left unfinished. The knitter in question had had dementia, and thought she was knitting scarves. So a finisher was found to piece all the little bits of knitting together into a blanket.
It's my first N7 day!
This is a knitted shawl that is also a Galaxy Map from the Mass Effect trilogy! I saw the yarn at a fiber festival, and the idea leapt into my head and refused to let go. I had such fun (and some screaming) figuring out the knitting coordinates for each relay on the map. The relays that are for homeworlds are in the actual shape of a mass relay, with a blue bead in the middle. All other relays are the circular shape you see whilst navigating the map in game. Each relay is color-coded to indicate which game it was used in: 1 is blue, 2 is yellow, and 3 is red.
I am so so so happy with this piece. It turned out just how I hoped it would, and it's so pretty.

i am very proud of this yarn, made from a local wool breed which I carded myself. the greys and browns are so pretty too. unfortunately i broke my plying tool in the process, i didn't realise the tension of wool could crush plastic, that was a big shock
i have got more of this lovely fibre too to spin still and i am already thinking up plans for it. i keep feeling like a fantasy person looking at this lovely wool
I may have fallen asleep instead of making a WIP Wednesday post. Better late than never! Let's see your WIPs!

Gothic Victorian High Neck Collar Necklace, a free crochet pattern designed by Kristina Tamulevičiūtė on Ravelry.
As you may have guessed, I am not doing the MKAL this year, mostly because I want to finish up my current design and start preparing for future designs. I made a goal for myself to get four patterns out this year, and I am on course for accomplishing that.
This is the back of Sleeping Satellite. Looks just as good as the front. I am going through about 50g of yarn a week, so hopefully, this will be off the needles in about two weeks. The charts are done, so I am in a pretty good place with it.
for sock knitting: magic loop or double pointed needles?
magic loop
dpns
some third option (put in reblogs)

Every sock option (socktion) i can think of
4 DPNs (in a triangle)
5 DPNs (in a square)
Magic loop
Travelling loop (smaller version of magic loop)
Mini/9" circulars
Two circulars
Flexi flips
I only knit socks flat
I use a different method every time
I don't knit socks
Sock nuance?

Tbf I sometimes start with 5 DPNs and continue on 4 when I lose one down the couch for a bit
I tend to switch how many DPNs I use depending on where in the pattern I am and how its written. Or when I lose one in the couch XD

Majora's Mask Amigurumi, a free crochet pattern designed by GeeMaker on Ravelry.
I started this baby quilt by going through my scrap bin and just picking a bunch of colors to make half square triangles with. I had no real plan. I thought I was going to go with that first arrangement, but after trying a few, I knew I struck gold with the final arrangement. I set aside the squares I originally made with white and added the black corner squares.
Once it was all together I decided the design should speak for itself and just went with a stitch in the ditch around the colored blocks and then used the last scraps of that black fabric as a binding. Naturally, my cats had to help along the way (I promise the quilt is not that small, that’s just a 16 pound cat). This will go to a close coworker who is expecting their first this winter.
