I don't think he'd take up needlepoint or cross stitch, because the idea of losing a tiny, sharp needle, not knowing where it is? Yeah. No thanks from him.
I definitely see him crocheting or knitting. While I think he'd very much enjoy the repetitive motions of knitting, it can be very unforgiving when you mess up--so he drifts more towards crochet instead.
He buys a hook and some yarn one day (post Bianca) after hanging around with the older ladies. He tries to learn it himself, but after getting frustrated, he asks a couple of them at church if they could swing by and teach him.
When Lars tells Karin he's expecting them to come over, she's over the moon that he went out of his way to ask people to hang out--even if it's just the grandma's.
He struggles at first, but with help, he becomes really good at crocheting. He usually just makes scarfs, he's a big fan of the repetitive rows. When he does mess up, he lets out a tiny huff, before he just frogs the mistake and continues on.
Later into Karin's pregnancy, he starts attempting to make baby clothes. While the first couple attempts are...less than good, he eventually finished his first pair of baby socks. And then a little onesie. And then a little hat.
And after just a month of crocheting, Lars had stress crocheted a whole plastic tub full of baby clothes. He unceremoniously left it on the porch, knocked twice on the door, and awkwardly sped-shuffled back to the garage.
Karin thanks him profusely when she sees all the clothes inside. Different color yarns, different sizes for when the baby grows, all the likes.
Lars just nods back, a sweet smile spreading on his face through his screen door whispering a small 'It's nothing,' before going back to crochet more baby clothes.
