Starting to get the photos together. Not the photos that I thought that I was going to get, but photos nonetheless.
Champ de Tulipes, on size 3 needles, in warp twist cotton 10/2. painted with dye-na-flow
i had a lot of fun with this one! (ok, i have a lot of fun with all of them - i am really enjoying painting lace!)
I did the colors first, then came in and painted the black over them. i admit was hoping for a teeny bit more color showing through, but that's ok.
all freehand again. i keep thinking i should use some sort of shield or other masking tool, but i'd need a third hand to make that work! (the airbrush only takes one hand, of course, but holding that hand steady requires the use of the other one!)
the newest knit socks to enter my collection! really happy with how these came out βΊοΈ
*squints* As a perpetual amateur, I'm pretty sure this is magic?!? I feel like magic should be disclosed when showing finished crafts π (But seriously, these are fab, well done!)
honestly, i think socks seem harder than they actually are to knit. if you can handle small projects in the round (whether with dpns, short circular needles, or the magic loop method) then they're actually quite easy, and if you haven't done small projects in the round yet, i think socks are a great way to learn. The hardest part is the heel turn, but even that i really struggle to call difficult -- you can definitely not understand what you are doing & just follow instructions & it'll work.
to make a top-down sock with a heel flap like this, you really only have to know how to knit, purl, slip stitches, pick up stitches, ssk, and k2tog. That's it. i dove into sock knitting pretty early on -- just after i'd figured out beanies. i'd never touched anything lace, and i've still never made a large garment like a sweater.
the fanciest thing in these particular socks is the folded cuff, which i only recently added to my repertoire. And honestly, even that is mostly just time consuming & tedious rather than difficult.
edit: you also need to kitchener stitch the toe closed, but much like the heel turn i believe that falls in to the category of "you don't have to understand what you are doing, and it is really quite simple". i forgot to mention it originally because its a sewing method rather than a knitting method -- whoops!
Got to go to Frederick today for my husband to meet up with friends, which meant I got to stop at Magpie Fibers. Got Quartet fingering in Wicked Game and Castaway for a brioche hat and a small bottle of Eucalan to try out.

After some thought, I decided to start doing garter stitch stripes with the minis. I was initially thinking of doing some kind of brioche or tuck stitch, but felt that I was making things too complicated. It's kind of a common thing in the design process for me, editing down the ideas.

I am not actually weaving much because if you want to make a tapestry with all-handspun weft you uh
You gotta spin a lot
Anyway Iβve added red and green skeins to the pile
Hereβs my tiny loom where Iβm sampling everything as I finish it
I did NOT like the way the beige came out, itβs too pink, so I am using combs to blend white and a mauve-ish color to get what I hope will look like aged paper.

More Swedish embroidery~
I think this is my favorite pattern so far! Btw if you need a form of embroidery that is basically invisible on the back side, this is it.
Sadly, I am not releasing patterns at a rate where I don't "How do I do that again?" when it comes time to use the graphics and desktop publishing software. Someday....
After 30g, I am up to 86 stitches. So now, I can calculate large of a shawl that I can knit with a 100g skein and three 20g minis (as well as where this minis are going). Just need to work through the geometry and ratios in a spreadsheet.
Progress is also being made on writing up My Ever Changing Moods. Most of the writing and charts are done. Just have to do photos and diagrams.

I think Iβm very funny. Especially for my first time weaving, Iβm pretty happy with how it turned out :)

Finally some new work to show!
I am going to embroider both front sides of this button up, but i know i wont be able to finish the second bit while goldenrod season is in full bloom, so i went out and got some snaps of just half the finished shirt.
Im so excited with how this is coming together! Hopefully i can finish the full thing before fall is over lmao
