"Big plans, huh?" Ujing says with a sly smile. "Looks like someone's getting lucky tonight." Mako goes red in the face as soon as the meaning of Ujing's words register.

"I don't know," Peng adds. "With Mako's luck, he'll drive this one into the arms of another woman too!"

"Good point," Ujing agrees. "Hope you learned a thing or two about pleasing the ladies, Mako! Don't want to repeat history!"

"I'm leaving," Mako says, flustered and annoyed. He shoves his paperwork into a drawer and slams it shut. He doesn't grace their mockery with a response. Why should he? It's none of their business if he's getting lucky tonight. It's a stupid phrase anyway. And he knows they're wrong about history. He didn't drive Korra or Asami into each other's arms. Their relationship has nothing to do with Mako, beyond the fact that he introduced them to one another years ago. After that, their friendship and then their relationship grew on its own.

Well, he supposes it's likely that they commiserated from time to time one what a shitty boyfriend he'd been. But he deserves that, he'd been unfaithful and untruthful to both of them. They probably shared some grievances with one another at some point during the time they've known each other. But it wasn't like he turned them or whatever the other detectives like to joke about.

Whatever. It doesn't matter. He ignores their laughter and grabs his bag.

"We'll pick up the Creeping Crystal investigation tomorrow," he says in a clipped, professional tone. Before either of them can make excuses for why they shouldn't have to work on the case tomorrow, Mako hurries out of the bullpen and approaches Ursa.

"Hey, Ursa," Mako says, getting her attention as she finishes up her conversation with the receptionist. "Thanks for picking me up. You ready to go?"

"Sure am! The car's just out front." Ursa says brightly. "It was nice chatting with you," she says to the receptionist as she turns to go.

As Mako starts following Ursa toward the exit, the receptionist reaches out and tugs on Mako's sleeve to grab his attention. He turns to her in surprise, and barely hears her as she speaks in a hushed, conspiratorial tone. "I like her, Detective! You treat this one good, you hear?"
