thinking about those lines from 11x01 again. "it's just—something happened, sir. in the cage. [what?] uh, they said it sounded like a frightened animal. all of hell heard—like someone was going crazy. the rumor is that michael or lucifer—one of them is trying to warn us." like why did they never address that. WHY. and then they go down and see lucifer and lucifer says michael had gone crazy which directly implies that michael was the one who made that sound. loud enough that all of hell could hear. what HAPPENED down there

like i DO legitimately wonder what happened down there because. yknow. adam’s still down there! and michael’s the one who made the sound! because clearly he’s afraid of the darkness being freed (for good reason) and i don’t think adam ever would’ve seen michael be afraid before that point. i think they came to their agreement before then but i really do think s11 is when they started to actually get close because of all the shit that went down. adam witnesses michael’s fear and michael witnesses adam’s despair at being left behind in favor of lucifer (once again. michael’s fucking tone in 15x08 when he said “you, who let lucifer walk free while your own brother sat in hell.”) there is just sooooo much going on in s11 that i think it would be the turning point for them. where they go from getting along with each other as a way to stave off insanity to getting along with each other because they’ve seen each other at their worst and choose to be actual friends anyway. if that makes sense
