reminder that public inaccessibility is a form of violent oppression. it's so much more than a cute reminder to "let yourself take up space" when trying to navigate inaccessible public spaces can lead to expensive medical equipment damage, concussions and/or brain bleeds, dislocations, fractures, tissue injury, seizures, injury to service animals, and countless other traumatic situations. all of which most disabled people can't afford to remedy because many of us can't work or afford it on top of everything else.
"just don't go" works for a night out with friends (which causes mental health issues but that's another post), not things like getting food, going to the post office, getting to doctors/treatments, or receiving services related to your disability. it is torture to know that the food or medicine you need is just in reach, but your own body is stopping you from getting to it.
the government refusing to put money into programs to make things accessible or create outreach to disabled people kills us. it is a violent punishment for the crime of being born and you should be angry even if you aren't physically disabled because we are dying.

“Pratchett went back to older throwaway jokes (like dwarves being apparently unisex) and used them as metaphors to discuss social change, racial assimilation, and other complex issues, while reexamining the species he’d thrown in at the margins of his world simply because they existed at the margins of every other fantasy universe. If goblins and orcs and trolls could think, then why were they always just there to be slaughtered by the heroes? And if the heroes slaughtered sentient beings en masse, how heroic exactly were they? It was a long overdue start on redressing issues long swept under the rug by a parade of Tolkien successors who never thought of anyone green and slimy as anything but a notch on the protagonist’s sword, and much of the urgency in Pratchett’s last few books seemed to be related to them. ‘There’s only one true evil in the world,’ he said through his characters. ‘And that’s treating people like they were things.’ And in the last of his ‘grown-up’ Discworld books, that idea is shouted with the ferocity of those who have only a few words left and want to make them count. Goblins are people. Golems are people. Dwarves are people, and they do not become any less people because they decide to go by the gender they know themselves to be instead of the one society forces on them. Even trains might be people, and you’ll never know one way or the other unless you ask them, because treating someone like they’re a person and not a thing should be your default. And the only people who cling to tradition at the expense of real people are sad, angry dwellers in the darkness who don’t even understand how pathetic they are, clutching and grasping at the things they remember without ever understanding that the world was never that simple to begin with. The future is bright, it is shining, and it belongs to everyone.”
— John Seavey, The Evolution of the Disc (via liquidlightandrunningtrees)
Revolting little machine I hope someone guy fawkeses you too.
(Context: was trying to find the text of a version of the Guy Fawkes poem which ends 'are we glad that they stopped him or not?' Was not expecting this thing to run defence for the UK parliament 400 years ago)
Btw, if you ever wanted an indicator of the ideological censorship that now exists, and how pervasive it has become? The poem I was looking for, with its implication that maybe it might not have been a bad thing to blow up parliament way back when, was published in a children's book two decades ago. Without incident. Now I can't even SEARCH for that poem without receiving a telling off for its contents.
gender essentialism is soooo funny bc it's like "this is what women are like" and you're like "I've met women and many of them, if not the majority, have not been like that" and it's like "well women SHOULD be like that" and you're like "why should women be like that" and its like "because that's what women are like"
The response a lot of conservatives have is that we have "turned away" from nature because modern society is "degenerate" and "perverts" human nature. So they'll argue that "two sexes" and gender roles are natural but feminism has "poisoned" women's minds. They see it as a sign of social ills that women aren't in the home as "happy" housewives. You'd have to convince them that women were not happy being second class citizens for much of history, but that is a tall order for people who don't believe in facts or logic.

Akechi has got to be one of my favoruite characters of all time and i particularly love his black mask fit, so im really happy i feel ive done him justice 🙏🙏
This fit was incredibly fun to make and wear. Everything was modelled and made from scratch by me but for the bodysuit where I ended up making A Lot of adjustments to it, as well as the belts where i ended up adding on 3d modelled ends.
This project I focused on using flexible filament for the first time and had fun figuring out its quirks as i went! I plan to share my general process/findings in the near future, just need to gather and edit the footage and such lol. Its truly such a game changer using it for armour (the helmet and shoe coverings were made out of it for reference!)
Im taking every opportunity to say this bc im genuinely still amazed by it, but i wore this suit for like approx 10hrs straight on smash saturday, drank over 1.5L of water, and did not need to pee a Single time during this period due to the sheer intensity of how much i was sweating. Genuine pro tip i guess 😭
Everytime i hear psychic attack i think of black mask akechi specifically, its such a him vibed song imo. Shoutout to machine girl for making bangers in general 🙏
Non edited photos so you can better see the fit 🫣

do it grieving
do it while the ground falls out from under you; do it while everything you loved goes up in smoke; do it while the dream of your future is still burning embers around you; build anew on the hot ashes of everything you worked for; keep going, keep loving, keep living, even as all you want is to turn back (there is no turning back; it is gone already); do it through grief, which feels like fear in the body
do it grieving
The tag I have seen most often on this post is "I needed to hear this," and I am so, so grateful to have said something that was needed. These words came out of the depths of my own grief, and I am so grateful to have made this small connection with others in the midst of it. Grief is isolating and indescribable, but none of us are alone.
That said, these tags were what I needed to hear:
we're all gonna make it
it's okay if you can't see how yet. you don't have to believe in better. for now it is enough to just keep going, and eventually the path will emerge. you are not alone. you are not lost in the woods forever. keep going. I love you.
[ID: tags reading "#i did and it worked #i made it out #i thought i lost everything but i kept going and made new connections and a new life for myself #and you will too". End ID]
Bixia, may I ask what exactly is the significance of Mount Li and the nine springs? I fear I must have missed learning about it because it wasn't immediately relevant to being in your glorious military.
hi peon, if you type in those key words, and click on the first search results in the google, information will appear. hope that helps!
guards, execute this rube for wasting my time!
bixia, i never learned to read in case I accidentally consumed philosophy, can you summarise?
…i really cant fault that. this is an excellent philosophy to have.
PHILOSOPHY???
WAIT A MINUTE!!!! EXECUTION!!!!!!
common advice for social anxiety is to tell yourself "people aren't going to think less of you just because you said something a bit daft" but the thing is. sometimes they will. and you just have to learn to be cool with that and to treat it as a dnd random encounter rather than letting it ruin your whole day
recent example. lady at my careers appointment had a post-it with her name on it stuck to the monitor, so i introduced myself by saying "hello, i'm eliot! you must be [name], it's nice to meet you!" and she stared at me as if i was the stupidest person alive and said icily, "yeah, i'm [name]. congratulations, you can read."
in bygone times this would have reduced me to a sort of quivering blancmange. thankfully i am now in a place where i was able to pull back, calmly evaluate this interaction, and say to myself "this woman should probably not be working in a customer-facing job"
important additions!!!!

Why's this dude built like crash bandicoot
Everything about this damn post is so funny to me. The lighting of the arm from the flash. The posing of the arm like a dramatic death from a novella. The fact the photo somehow got taken still and looks this good. The subreddit name. The fact this guy really is built like crash bandicoot

women are like diamonds: synthetically-produced women are not meaningfully different from naturally-formed women, and anyone trying to tell you otherwise is probably trying to justify keeping their women mines open
I follow the "leave nothing but footprints take nothing but photos" rule of state/national parks yeah because conservation. But also because when I was 11 i read a short story about a girl who went to a museum and stole a bandage flake off a mummy on display with the mentality of "im just one person one piece won't be missed" then at night she was visited by the mummy and it plucked a single hair from her head and then the next night a different mummy took another hair and she realized that there were only so many pieces to her before there would be nothing left and that story was forever wedged in my brain. Anyways leave cool rocks where you find them or the mummies will get you
