When I was diagnosed at age sixteen, after having one period in the eighth grade and then never again till a medically induced one my junior year of high school - my uterine lining measured in centimeters because it was so thick, my mother turned to me in the car. She was upset. Literal tears in her eyes. And she told me her friend had PCOS, but was still able to have kids. That this was still a possibility for me if I did injections and fertility treatments, etc. My mom had never asked me if I wanted kids, she just assumed.
My first conversation about PCOS with my new endocrine/OBGYN was about weight management and how that could improve my fertility when I eventually wanted kids. It wasn't asked what my goals were for my health or if I wanted kids, just assumed.
I was a hormonal, depressed mess. I hated my body. My body dysmorphia was so bad that I cloistered myself away from so much. I wore hoodies and jeans in the 90°F, 80% humidity summers. This was considered fine. I was given metformin and birth control pills and told this was all that could be done. That PCOS wouldn't affect my life until I wanted to be pregnant. I wasn't asked if I wanted to be pregnant, just assumed.
I don't know how many PCOS groups I joined on my early 20s hoping to find community and commonality for body dysmorphia and symptom management, only to be bombarded with fertility treatments and tips and 'inspirational conception' anecdotes. They never asked if I was attempting to conceive, just assumed.
It's a problem. It's been a problem. And thank god I learned to speak up and find medical professionals that would help me with *MY* goals. I shouldn't have had to, someone should have recognized the needs of that sixteen y.o. and protected her, but I can only hope the conversation changes as awareness increases.
Fucking tired of movie bullshit!! Sorry to the handful of actors I enjoy but we gotta blow the whole thing up and start over I am sick and tired of this shit. I am done with trailers that last for 5 fucking minutes, done with sequels and reboots and remakes, done with Everyone From Everything Is In this, done with We Spent Billions of Dollars On Absolute Garbage, done with the entire fucking thing. We're resetting it. Everyone gets ten grand, 5 aspiring actors they sort of know, and a cabin in the woods. We are not letting the military anywhere near any of this shit, I don't care if you want a free helicopter. Go make some fucking art and free us from this hellscape.
& honestly there's no debate to be had the zendaya earrings are orders of magnitude worse than kim kardashian wearing that marilyn dress. yes that piece was a one of a kind unique textile made so specifically for marilyn monroe she had to be sewn into it. at the end of the day it was a ~70 year old usamerican cultural artefact being repurposed by an american for an american cultural event and everyone involved knows exactly where the dress came from + what happened to it + where it went afterwards. zendaya is wearing the looted (or forged) cultural heritage of a people her government is currently bombing & whose lives they have been deliberately making unliveable for decades to a movie premiere that has fuck all to do with iran. we don't know where those discs came from where they were found or by whom & we never will. AND the jeweller appears to have altered them substantially from their original condition. destroying a people's cultural heritage at the same time you destroy their country + their lives so you can look good on a red carpet One Time i want to fucking hurl
The earrings, worn by Zendaya at The Odyssey press tour, are believed to be 2,000-3,000 years old and come at a time when the US is bombing
An archaeologist quoted in the article says "the point of these earrings is not to showcase legitimate ancient artistry, it is to fetishize the past, to be a commodity, stolen from the elite, circulated illegally, and immorally…this is about class signalling."

> the Vietnamese
> that country
It's like you don't even pretend to view Vietnamese People as human
America killed 3 million Vietnamese people, we put half of South Vietnam in Concentration Camps, we dropped more bombs on North Vietnam than were dropped by both sides in WW2, We permeantly poisoned the land with Agent Orange, the American war on Vietnam was the most inhuman and despicable action in this nations history, the Vietnamese had every right to do whatever they wanted to the occupation
When you learn what the US soldiers did to the Vietnamese, you'll never stop praying for the death of America.

it is truly wild that people will say "if you think trans men are in a materially different class under patriarchy than cis men, you must not think they are real men!" with full earnestness and not realize what it is they are actually saying.
idk my friend, if you need to pretend that trans men don't have materially different experience of patriarchy & are classed differently under patriarchy than cis men, in order to see trans men's manhood as real? i don't think your line of thinking is much different than TERFs who stubbornly refuse to admit that trans women are also have a materially different experience of patriarchy & are classed differently than cis men.
in both cases, rather than acknowledging how the cissexism in feminism has led to the erasure of how fundamental queerphobia and transphobia is to upholding patriarchy, you are clinging to that very cissexism, and privileging the experiences of cis people over trans people and basically blatantly stating that it is the experiences of cis people which define what it means to be a "real" man or woman.
except at least TERFs are being transphobic on purpose; you are trying to act like the real transphobia is acknowledging that. being trans matters when it comes to gender in society???????? this is what happens when you only care about the trans-exclusive part of being anti-TERF and not the radical-feminist part.
Hey, hey, look me in the eyes when I tell you this okay? The whole "do trans women or trans men have it worse?" debate going on right now is the most obvious CIA bullshit on earth cause honestly we've both got it pretty shitty and fighting each other isn't helping anyone
as a pattern seeking species i think we tend to get attached to things we recognise or encounter frequently. any sort of recognition can work to get people emotionally invested in things. like other people online who we never have met or talked to, fictional characters, even toys or objects.
but while we recognise the parasocial nature of getting overly attached to strangers online , i'm not sure people realise this is what happens on a regular basis towards visibly disabled people in their real lives. being easier to spot in a crowd makes people notice you more often and remember you more strongly. people also mistake the information of "this person has a disability" as intimate shared information. perhaps they recognise it as the vulnerable information that it is. and so visibly disabled people are often treated by neighbours or distant acquaintances or strangers as someone they know. maybe even someone they're entitled to talk to familiarly or ask about.
in actuality they don't know anything private about this random disabled person. i bet most people, abled or disabled would be unable to tell the disabilities someone has just by looking at their visual symptoms. neither did they really notice the disabled person or learn anything about them that they would usually strive to learn about someone they're getting to know. you don't know what that visibly disabled person likes or dislikes, believes in, advocates for, spends their time doing.
visibly disabled people know it wasn't any aspect of their personhood that stuck in the mind of some stranger, but rather understand that they are being seen as a human shaped disability. and visibly disabled people haven't made any decision to confide in strangers, just like you don't "share" the information that you can walk on two legs, or have four limbs, or no scars, or the ability to speak and hear by existing in public, disabled people aren't "sharing" their scars or limb difference or anything else by existing in public.
and when people can't recognise their own assumptions about random visibly disabled strangers and then feel entitled to their time, energy, emotions, personal information, and such they get angry at the disabled person for having regular boundaries that most ableds take for granted. and considering that disability makes one vulnerable to assault or abuse, and that's the only information these self-entitled ableds actually have on hand, it easily becomes a dangerous situation for the disabled person in question
Don't leave your friends and even acquaintances to go to the hospital alone. If they don't have someone already going with them and don't explicitly tell you they don't want you there, go to advocate for them. Outcomes for sick people change dramatically when they have someone else there to observe doctors (making them know they can't get away with negligence) and note symptoms from an outside perspective.
Going to the hospital is scary and even someone totally unprepared to be a medical advocate or physical support will be better than nothing, purely from their presence. You can grab food, be there with your phone to search if theirs dies, go in search of a doctor, distract them from pain or discomfort... go with them.
stop trying to say I have aphantasia, nobody can actually see that fucking apple
if I had aphantasia, that would require people to be constantly ahllucinating, and I think that they are the real issue here
Genuinely though the idea of aphantasia is stupid, I don't think anyone can see an apple, they are all lying to me as a bit
What happens if I ask you to remember an apple you saw?
I remember the apple? Nobody sees memories, that's a plot device in film to tell the Audience things, not a real phenomenon

Ex-Brexit party MEP says there is no ‘given right’ to low food prices despite families struggling with cost of living
American leftists at this point are objectively cooler than British leftists at this point Charlie Kirk got shot in broad daylight and they made jokes a ceo got shot in the streets and they celebrated
Meanwhile in the uk an old fascist lady died and the left are saying we shouldn’t celebrate it
Uk leftists are pussies nowadays
Am I, a British LGBT person supposed to be upset that a politician who campaigned hard against our rights was killed? She was pro conversion therapy aka pro torture. Let me get my fucking violin.

Just thinking about the guy I recently saw on reddit angrily arguing that aphantasia is not real, because no one actually "sees" things in their brain, we just don't have good language to describe raw qualia of thought. And the more he spoke the more convinced I became this dude just experiences strong aphantasia but thinks he's completely normal, so surely everyone experiences the same thing he does. They're just choosing to describe it weird for some reason

Why have they trapped this royal fuck in hamburger land. Is this because I won't download your stupid match 3 game. Are you hoping that hamburger will somehow entice me
Wake me up when there's a healthcare drama show focused on chronically ill and disabled patients, instead of yet another one abt doctors and nurses 😒
