"oh so the trans character kills herself??? this show is transphobic" JESUS CHRIST YOU PEOPLE ARE INSANE. Jax repressed himself to the point of abstraction, then Pomni finds a way to reach him even through his broken mental state, and the gang puts him in a safe and comfortable blanket fort where s/he can relax and get his senses back in order without hurting himself or others. The other abstractions get to be seen being happy and at peace. No it's not IDEAL but it's basically like having a mental break that just needs some care and attention instead of Cellar. We do not see any Abstractions get fixed but the episode does leave it open-ended as to how much they will one day be able to be reached, and the characters have eternity to figure it out. Jax finally opens up to Pomni in that headspace and it's far from impossible she can still talk to him in this state.

it's also not like Jax is the only trans/queer character. Zooble is nonbinary/genderqueer and makes it through the entire show, is given emotional depth and weight to their own dysphoria and character struggles, and then gets to end the show with their human self opening a successful (implied) queer bar and their digital self having epic gay sex!! (entire theater cheered and clapped at that btw)

like. look me in the eyes. do you think that a trans woman show creator would write a trans woman character just to kill her out of malice?? like do you think she was maybe trying to say something with the abstractions and Jax's repression and the fact there is still hope and time for him and his human self?? are we operating on this level of media literacy or are we just looking for things to get mad at

The backgrounds feel like an actual living city/settlement. Not the crisp clean theme-park Zootopia wonderland stuff, actually lived in and incredibly detailed to my peasant eye.

No romance. Solid platonic cross gender relationships built on respect and comradery

It's so good and I really wish it became the same level of hit as K-Pop Demon Hunters. It won't because it's a completely different genre of movie but holy cow. As someone who has next to no interest in sports this movie is a gem. Beautiful to look at, solid story, incredible set up and pay off. I wish it could crush zootopia like a fucking bug, it's so much better than zootopia one (I haven't and don't want to see the sequel I don't care).

I’ve seen people comment that Pomni’s torture scenario was kind of weak compared to the others, and that it could be because she hasn’t been in the circus as long, thus Caine can’t personalize her punishment as well.

And even if he’s technically using their traumas to hurt them, I don’t think that was his main intention. I think he was “replying” to their criticisms.

How can someone, whose body perfectly encapsulates their mind and is fully customizable, not feel satisfied yet? How many options do you need? How vain can you be, Zooble?

First of all, I know that Zooble most likely suffers from dysphoria, and Caine focusing the torture scenario on that was a massive dick move on his part, especially when Zooble had shared their insecurities about their body in a previous episode.

However, in that same episode, Caine shared with Zooble his own insecurities.

I’m just saying that he probably took Zooble’s criticism as a low blow of its own and he made it personal.

Cain would be reminding her that the npc she saw as a friend was ultimately his own creation, and that he was in charge of what Gummigoo was ultimately.

I also saw someone point out an interesting tidbit of Gummigoo kind of representing what Caine fears in humanity/himself. Specifically, Gummigoo is a “non-human” like Caine, but Pomni showed no dislike for him, showing to Caine that the problem ultimately lies with him, and that scares him.
