Self care tips & Ritual
Hi sorry for the late post, had some serious computer issue but still writing ! so self care 101!
Naturally With any healing and self care rituals its important to listen to your body. This will help you be more receptive to your energy needs. Depending how you feel it could be a mix of things, I have listed the types of care below to help you figure what kind of care you need.
Physical- like some light exercise / stretching out your body or cooking a healthy meal, something that makes you physically feel good.
Emotional- Like journaling or creative expression such as art, singing/ cooking. a creative positive way to express your inner emotions.
Spiritual- something that soul nourishing your soul- meditation /spending time in nature.
Intellectual- reading a book/ watching a documentary doing a puzzle of some sort or even taking a class. This type of self care is something that expands your knowledge.
Social- connecting with love ones- spending time with old friend- making new friends.
Sensual- listening to music/ going and seeing the local scenery/ colour therapy- walking barefoot outside / lighting a scented candle/ aromatherapy..
Once you work out what you need you can experiment and work out what’s best for you.
I am going to give you some basic tips for self care and l then a basic ritual you can use as a go to first step for when you are feeling depleted which you can mix and match with what ever you need to.
It’s important that we try and make time for ourselves everyday and I know people find that hard especially parents of young children. But it’s even harder to give from a cup that is not full. So take this advice instead of trying to learn the hard way!
Basics:
Wear colour
colour has the ability to alter your mood and make you feel in different ways, also if you feel like a chakra is blocked or you are carrying some dense energy you can opt for wearing the colour associated with that particular chakra to help you re-energise and balance it.
Spend time with people who up lift you.
Connect with people who are positive and who make you feel more alive it is a good way to boost your spirit and over all health. never underestermate the power of a good old laugh.
Get in to nature
a walk in the park with a good dose of fresh air will do you the world of good.
Be honest as a person
speak your truth and walk in your integrity. People. Being authentic draws in like minded and authentic people who respond to you in a positive way.
Lend a helping hand
helping people always brings us joy just don’t forget to ask for help when you need it too!
Take time to be grateful.
It is humbling and makes you mindful of life as well as raising the positive vibes around you and filling you up with love and joy.
Self care routines are adaptable based on your needs but it’s also handy to have a basic ritual that you can repeat with ease when needed.
My basic self care ritual:
usually done in the morning or evening depending on what kind of things i have to do on the day. but i try to be consistent and do this most days.
1 Getting up early:
I like to get up while my child is still asleep, when the house is quiet and still. Because I find it peaceful.
2*Hot drink: chamomile tea
In a fancy mug because it aesthetically pleasing and the tea is also relaxing and make me feel like I am doing something right in the world.
3 Morning prayer:
A quick prayer for gods favour & protection and guidance like to stay prayed up.
4 journaling & gratitude:
Getting all my thoughts on paper the good the bad the ugly! Then writing all I am grateful for in that moment. Because I like to write in spite of my frustrations this creates some metal space for me by decluttering the chatter of my mind and focusing on the good.
*If I have enough time*
a little meditation to reconnect with my intuition so that I can see clarity in my day to day life
Grounding: especially if I’m feeling floaty and find myself day dreaming and unable to focus( will do a post on this soon to explain more! )
5 Showering/ bathing for a little longer then usual:
I like to shower and visualise washing of any heavy energies I have picked up or have been carrying around with me
6 Music -
playing music that make my mood lighter and up lift me.
7 Smell:
I love the smell of Frankincense and jasmine so I like to burn that around my space while Relaxing or having to do daily mundane things.
By this time I’m probably feeling better in myself already. Some of the things on this list I exchange for different things but the top four are a consistent part of my self care regime.
