Recently in conversation amongst friends it was extremely clear that I am not the only one who hides where it’s safe. ...
After trying to figure out what we were doing with our last bank holiday together we all nit-picking on times each of us has played the “Hype girl” and suggested we go somewhere new or do something adventurous but then completely written it off as anxiety and uncertainty got the better of us as it came close to actually doing it. It’s something loads of us do and although it seems like the better option for cautious people like myself to stay safe where things are familiar it actually prevents you from growing and gathering experiences. We as people tend to stick in situation even if it is uncomfortable as long as it is familiar and its no good. People do this all the time in relationships, jobs, and daily life. How can you be the person you want to be if you’re afraid to take that chance? so I have decided to do a quick list of how I try and break out of my comfort zone daily in the hopes it might help.
HONESTY
Being honest about how you feel things you want to do. I know for some that can seem unimaginable no one likes to be vulnerable, but by offering clarity regarding your feelings about yourself, things and others is a huge step out of your comfort zone.
SOMETHING NEW
something new a hairstyle? A hobby, a restaurant. The unfamiliar territory that comes with eating something completely random is terrifying, uncomfortable and funny for people around you and yet at the same time it’s fun to explore and experience.
JUST ASKING
Whether it’s for advice or help this is a really good one a friend convinced me to do. She forcefully made me ask for 10% off everything I brought when we were out shopping. Not only did I have crazy anxiety I also hated every moment of it but I did however save quite a few pounds which surprised me.
ALL YOU GOT TO DO IS SAY YES
If it scares you do it just for the thrill. why wonder about what if’s? when you can experience it.
BE OPENLY KIND
Give strangers complements! It’s really easy and actually not as scary as it sounds! It leaves you with a feeling of kindness too
Being uncomfortable isn't always good reason not to do something. That by being daring and challenging your fears you are able to use them to empower yourself. Taking chances regardless of the unknown is courageous by any means as it helps you grow and increases creativity and a whole lot of discomfort.
