It is 💯% ok to not be ok and you are not alone. I had been struggling for months with my energy level and not wanting to do anything. My mom suggested I go get blood work done to check my thyroid and blood sugar levels so off to the doctor I went. When there I told him what I wanted to do and he asked if I was sad/depressed. I was so flippant and said "ppssshhhh of course not". Just blew it off. After leaving his office, I sat in my vehicle and that question just stuck with me. I really thought about it. I had been crying every single night. My first thought when waking up was, how can I get back to bed sooner and having to tell myself to go to work and not call in. I broke down and cried again. I called my doctor's nurse and explained what I felt to her before getting my results back and made another appt. At the follow up appt all of my blood work came back normal and perfect. I took a test and it said I had mild depression. I went to a counselor and took another test and she verified that I do have depression with some anxiety. I opted to take a low dose of an antidepressant for the next year. I have a most wonderful life and did not understand why I felt this way. I was so sad and in my feelings of worrying about my mom, dad, and people I love. I was so scared to share any of this because I did not want to be judged or made fun of but all I have received is the most amazing and positive responses. I did not realize how many people struggle with depression. I just want to let anyone know that if you have any type of unhappy, harmful feelings you are not alone and to please reach out, you are loved!! I hope that sharing this helps at least one person.
