Confession #5,092
This is a bit weird because I had just submitted about my FAI and that I was finally getting my arthroscopy…
And during the appointment, they ended up not doing the arthroscopy because an x-ray revealed the actual problem: congenital hip dysplasia and developing arthritis in my spine.
I was misdiagnosed.
How did my previous doctors not notice this?!
Anyway, I’m getting another MRI with contrast as well as a fluoroscopy arthrogram to make sure I don’t need an arthroscopy to repair the cartilage before they go in and reshape my hip socket. I will need a hip replacement at some point, but right now we’re aiming for hip preservation.
I’m not upset. I’m baffled that it wasn’t caught sooner with how many images of my hip have been taken in the 6 years I’ve been struggling with this, but honestly I just feel validated. I wasn’t going crazy. I was actually getting worse. Now we have a concrete plan in place and I’m so relieved.
Granted, compared to FAI, this is worse. But now it makes sense why heating pads, ice packs, physical therapy, and countless medications just…didn’t help. It explains why my imaging wasn’t consistent. It explains everything.
Rheumatoid arthritis: Causes, symptoms and preventive measures
Rheumatoid arthritis is a type of arthritis that causes unbearable joint pain. This is a very dreadful joint disease. The body's articular tissues begin to damage, causing pain and swelling in the joints. In this disease, the patient's immunity is abnormal. This disease is extremely problematic in winter and early morning.
Standardly, this disease makes old people (40 to 60 years) and women more prey, but now this problem equally affects young people due to malnutrition and lifestyle changes.
Because of this disease, body joints like hands, elbows, wrists, shoulders, wasps, knees, ankles and necks, etc. are most affected. This can affect any joint, but it repeatedly occurs on the wrist and fingers.
If you also experience joint pain, contact an orthopedist immediately. Click here to know the most qualified orthopedic surgeon in Bhopal, MP (India).
Let's understand in detail what rheumatoid arthritis is, its causes, symptoms, preventive measures and treatment.
Causes
In 70-75% of people with rheumatoid arthritis, an abnormal immune factor called rheumatoid factor is found. However, there are many people who, despite this factor, do not have rheumatoid arthritis. The presence of immune substances as anti-cyclic citrullination proteins indicates this disease. The kidneys can also be examined for their diagnosis.
The most frequent cause of rheumatism is an attack of the immune system in the synovium.
If we talk about genetic causes, hormones are thought to be a cause of disease because this is more typical to women than men.
Symptoms
Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis include redness of the joints, softening of the skin, dryness and burning sensation.
Muscle stiffness or stiff joint movement decreases especially in the morning, which also causes such symptoms later in life.
The cause of rheumatoid arthritis pain is arthritis and the surrounding area. At the same time the intensity of pain decreases and decreases.
Minor eruptions and zits also stay around the joints.
It appears on the hand buttons (tingling in the hands)
The surrounding muscles also swell.
Pain in the heel of the foot.
Weight loss.
Diagnosis
The diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis is purely based on the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. For this purpose, several blood tests are carried out, such as the Cyclic Citrulline Antibody (Anti-CCP) test. MRI and ultrasonography are performed to check the intensity of X-rays and to determine bone wears at the edge of the joint.
Precautions
Adopt some precautions against rheumatoid arthritis, like:
Take as much water as possible.
Give special attention to balance food, eat well and be healthy.
Warming pads and ice bags help patients to relax and relieve pain.
Don't consume milk and cheese.
Avoid smoking, alcohol, and drugs.
Doing yoga every day reduces arthritis pain.
Physiotherapy reduces joint movement, muscle strength, and pain.
At last but not least, we must consult with an experienced doctor without a single dealy. In India, you can consult with this top arthroscopy and sports injury surgeon in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).
I feel like I'm going to puke. 🤢😩

My last surgery was in 2012. They snaked into my right shoulder and riveted tendons back to the bone and then sewed me closed. The pain before the surgery was something incredible but definitely not the worst pain I’ve felt. Once the nerve block dissipated, the pain was definitely worse by large degrees. But it still wasn’t the worst pain I’ve felt. That doesn’t mean I would want to feel it again.
Yet that’s what I’m looking at, this time for my left shoulder.
I’m not an athlete and I haven’t been suddenly injured. As it was apparent to me from the time of my shoulder surgery, I’m literally ripping myself apart from stress... I’m always tense, on the edge of my seat, no matter what I’m doing — even when I think I’m relaxed.
My brain hasn’t got the point that my left shoulder is fucked so I keep hurting myself doing stupid things, like reaching into the fridge to grab a drink or turning in my sleep to get comfortable. My limited range of motion and the flashes of pain tell me that my left shoulder’s damage is far more along currently than my right shoulder was right before the surgery.
I’m dreading the whole thing. At least I know I’ll make a fast recovery.
