This could have negative consequences for children's health at a time when many are at their most vulnerable, as hot #schoolmeals are on average much more #nutritious than cold ones. Currently reading Michael Brownlee’s book ‘The Local Food Revolution’ in preparation for my second book ‘The local growers revolution’. In preparation for this I been conducting lots of qualitative research, surveys and interviews during lock down. Thank you to all who have participated so far. Brownlee’s book is a very important publication. As the subtitle, ‘how will humanity feed itself in uncertain times’, suggests, it is very relevant to present day issues such as coronavirus crisis, lock down and social distancing, and the emergence of food boxes, food charities, local food networks, Eat Out To Help Out, and similar initiatives. We live in uncertain and worrying times and it’s reassuring that people like Brownlee have had the critical capacity and foresight to think beyond conventional food supply chains, and outside of the box. While Trump and The Conservative Party push for global trade deals and to lower food production standards, this book presents a very sobering argument and locates food supply chains within the current climate and ecological crises. The 11-carriage train was wrapped in Pride colours and staffed by an entirely #LGBT+ crew, making its first journey on Tuesday from London to Manchester. The train will be a permanent part of the operator's fleet and aims to reflect its commitment to diversity and inclusion. But the #rainbow-coloured train has split opinion.
