Whenever someone tries to claim that evolution is a lie, I send them a picture of platybelodon.
1. It’s an excellent example of transitional evolution.
2. It’s a mess who would intentionally do this and why
3. It makes them piss themselves a little.
“Evolution is just a theory-”
Oh good god
I couldn’t help but wonder what this absolute bastard of a skull would look like, and
I was not disappointed. But I was terrified.
OK but what is fucking killing me is that this whole argument, while brilliant, is this:
@cooolgnome
I can’t tell if it’s an elephant trying to become a boar or a hippo trying to become a shovel loader
Her name is Ashlee Marie Preston ✊🏾 👑
The missing platonic solids of tumblr – first row preexisting, second row mine.
(Anyone who wants to use these are icons need not ask, although I enjoy being informed that people liked the produce of my labor enough to do so!)

a comic about becoming
tHIS IS SUCH PRETTTY ART <3
Sandbox Tree (aka Dynamite Tree)
The Sandbox Tree (Hura Crepitans) grows primarily in South America, the Amazon rain-forest and certain parts of North America.
This tree is completely dangerous. The pumpkin shaped fruit it grows causes (upon consumption) vomiting, diarrhea and cramps. The sap from the tree is toxic and was once used to poison the tips of darts for combat. It can also cause blindness if it comes into contact with the eye.
The really cool (and also dangerous) thing about this tree is how the fruits explode. When they’re ripe, the hardened seed capsules explode and send flat, hard seeds over a 60 feet radius at 150 MPH (~240 KPH).

People (including my own parents) are constantly telling me I look like Buster Keaton and have been for years, and while I’m flattered, I can barely see it. I’ve cosplayed him and I still don’t see it. All the features of his that I can identify as distinctive or recognizably “Keaton” are not ones that I share, apparent from a generally similar skull shape.
I put on makeup and tried to emulate Keaton’s #look but as I took a picture I accidentally leaned into a cactus and hurt myself. Thank you, iOS live-capture.
I have learned to see it.
When scientists step outside their safe laboratories, anything can happen. Of course, studying wild animals or digging out million-year-old fossils sounds exotic and exciting, but that’s only one side of the spectrum. The other side is sometimes gross and scary but mostly it’s hilarious. In 2015 scientists started sharing their most embarrassing #Fieldworkfails, and recently French illustrator Jim Jourdane has decided to compile the most memorable ones and turn them into amusing whimsical drawings. I made another comic
Godamnit this has me cr y in g
Japanese tea bag maker Ocean-Teabag has been making waves by creating little parcels of aroma in the shape of marine animals. Luckily for us, their wide range of tea bags are available at online Japanese novelty retailer Village Vanguard, maker of such fine products as Space Tea and cat-shaped kitchen utensils.
Ocean-Teabag’s earliest designs included beautiful dolphin tea bags filled with blue mallow tea leaves. Steeping them turns your otherwise normal pot of water into a tranquil ocean. Proving to be a hit among tea lovers, Ocean-Teabag expanded their repertoire to many other sea creatures including the sea turtle (butterfly pea jasmine tea)…
the distinctive ocean sunfish (Japanese hojicha — roasted green tea)…
the graceful manta ray (tropical mango tea)…
and even a blood-thirsty shark (blended herb tea).
The newest addition to their robust series of marine creatures is a tea bag shaped like an innocuous sea cucumber. This little parcel is filled with jasmine tea, as well as a smidgen of sea cucumber powder to lend some authenticity. Ocean-Teabag warns that some people who have a sensitive tongue may find it tasting a little fishy.
The company also crafted a deep sea series that will satisfy even the most adventurous of tea drinkers out there. A few such examples are the anglerfish (earl grey tea)…
the creepy giant isopod (Eastern Beauty oolong tea)…
the horseshoe crab (white apricot tea)…
…and lastly the king of them all, the enormous giant oarfish. ( Delicious Assam tea of epic proportions! ) Just like its namesake, it measures a whopping 19 centimeters (7.5 inches). Drinking tea becomes an art when half of your tea bag hangs out of your cup.
While the notion of turning your cup of tea into fish-inhabiting waters is not new, these tea bags will hopefully conjure up images of gentle ocean waves in your mind.
WHERE TO FIND THE TEA
When people find out that my dog is afraid of men: Oh, the poor thing must have been traumatized when she was younger! Poor baby, I just want to hold and comfort her and let her know she’s safe.
When people find out that I, an adult human woman, am afraid of men: Um, not *all* men, sweetie. You can’t go your whole life being afraid. Get over it.
When my dog was allowed to get a hysterectomy: She doesn’t need to have puppies to have a happy, healthy like with her adoptive family.
When I, an adult human woman, want to get a hysterectomy: But having children will make you happy! You might change your mind!
People misgendering a dog: Oh my god I’m sorry it wasn’t intentional! I didn’t know :/
People misgendering a trans person: Uuuuh idc get over it
@lovely-and-bloody
This is a good addition! Thank you!

the scene in men in black where will smith’s character thoroughly explained why he shot little suzie, a cardboard cut out of a small child holding advanced physics textbooks instead of the scary aliens all around her is an excellent allegory to racism. will smith’s character, a black man, has no doubt had to deal with various authority figures assuming he is the threat when context clues could easily explain away his behavior and with that backstory in mind, it is easy to see why his character identified with aliens simply existing in the world and explained away the supposed cause for concern by using the context clues provided. on the other end of the spectrum, the white characters who all elected to shoot the aliens on sight did so for no other reason then ‘they look like a threat’, ignoring the fact that a 7 year old child out in the middle of the street alone with advanced physics textbooks should raise more eyebrows than a tentacled creature with allergies. in this essay i will
his understanding for these immigrant aliens is exactly why they made him an agent and why he did so well (in the next movie, which seems to be be set only a few years later, he’s already a very high ranking and we’ll respected agent) The job of the Men In Black is not to police the aliens on Earth or make sure there aren’t too many here; it’s to keep those aliens safe, keep their identities a secret and stop anyone who actually IS breaking the law from ruining things for everyone else.
brilliant
There’s certain people that you cannot speak on specific topics with because they don’t have the range, the knowledge, the empathy or the depth, to even understand where the fuck you’re coming from.
Describing someone as “not having the range” is gonna be my new insult for 2019
