if you set off a rube goldberg type death trap to kill someone, if it's a long enough machine, it ceases to become your fault if somebody dies at the end. that's how I've gotten away with it all these years, and why I'm still going to heaven.

the world may be a dark place sometimes but there are also 1200 year old paw prints from a happy kitty cat out there
i have complicated feelings on the fandom tendency to very loudly assign bisexuality to any sort of fun and flirty character because on one hand itβs really fairly harmless and there are plenty of characters who fit that description who i like to read as bisexual myself but also like, sometimes it does come off as a symptom of societyβs tendency to see bisexuality as indicative of a certain level of unseriousness
nonbinary identity gets this treatment too, both in media and in real life. see that one tweet thatβs like βiβm probably nonbinary but iβve got a job rnβ for a fairly succinct summary of that lol. thereβs this view that fluidity in identity is inherently immature and unprofessional and to be taken seriously as a real adult in society you need to stifle those parts of yourself. and as always fandom is just a reflection of those broader trends

Not gonna lie this makes me a bit irritated. Here's the real version of this photo:
Instead of a cutesie reference to film censorship it was an explicit statement of defiance of Maryland's criminalization gay sex, which was not repealed until 2002. This wasn't a guy saying "Oh they can't put what I do in the movies according to a completely voluntary industry code" he was saying "The State of Maryland wants to put me in jail for being gay and having gay sex."
It wasn't a guy being cheeky about sex in an ambiguous, cute way. It was a man stating, in no uncertain terms, that a whole state of the United States considered him a criminal for being homosexual.
very grim that you can't find a single informational post about the current intestinal parasite outbreak in the US where the comments aren't full of people going "oh my god i hope i get it so i can get skinnyyyyyyyy ππ€£"
I always think of the description I saw years ago: Self-imposed deadlines don't help me, because I know the person who set them, and they're full of shit.
Give yourself the treat before you start. I'm serious. And ideally during the task and afterwards too.
Executive dysfunction comes from a lack of available dopamine. Common advice is wrong. You need to provide your own dopamine before you can start. Otherwise you're trying to run your car on empty.
"But what if I still don't do it" well you already weren't getting it done anyway. Now you have a little treat. Try again later.
You deserve kindness and care even when you aren't being productive.

What is your opinion on child neglect? Specifically in regards to your son
he has three whole pinball machines and i donβt even make him work for me anymore. what else could he possibly need
thing I am proud of: when the doctor started going on a weird rant about long covid not being real I paused and listened to his nonsense for a bit and then very calmly said, in a polite and curious tone, "you don't believe in post-viral illness?" and he like. stammered a bunch and was like OH WELL I'M NOT SAYING -- I DON'T...I just think ..! and backpedaled awkwardly while I just sat there like :3c interesting :3c thank you so much for clarifying your stance on this :3c
an important skill for chronically ill people to develop is the ability to treat the doctor as though they are simply a person you are interviewing to find out how much they know about your condition.
Holy shit op this is LITERALLY in the book 'Never Split The Difference: Negotiating as if Your Life Depends On It'. Written by a guy who did hostage negotiation and then tried doing business negotiation, and mopped the floor with industry experts.
I'm fortunate enough to have a primary care doctor who knows about hEDS, but it's occurring to me that the skills in this book could be medically life changing for chronically ill folks of all kinds. Like. Literally a matter of life and death, especially for BIPOC and/or fat and/or young people who are having their issues dismissed.
HMMM interesting!! will have to check this out
