Harmful practices are not culture. And even if they were, they need to be set aside for the sake of protecting your people while also maintaining a civil view on other aspects of a culture.

The problem isn't even the delusion of being the perfect human society prototype but them refusing to acknowledge the rest of the world are also deserving of basic rights and watering the crimes committed against them to "it's just their culture"🤷🏻‍♀️

I remember videos of people visiting Iran just appearing in my feed and all of them were like "they have been lying to you" and "this is the REAL Iran" dude you were barely there for a couple of weeks. Of course no one is gonna randomly talk politics to a foreign guest or something. At this point I'm afraid people who actually care and are supportive ended up lost amidst the populace of people who just randomly decided to pretend they are caring activists on a "trendy" basis. People who never do research and yet act like they know better than people living in a country. And it's not a matter soley for western "activists" (which I don't want to mix with actual activists and the many people who did give an actual damn) and is something many would fall into, even those who share similar difficult experiences can grow cold and uncaring towards another.

Also interesting how their content just came down to "look how pretty it is here. They're not losing the war. Look everything's fine" and obviously didn't even touch politics to begin with. Funny how the ladies walked about w/o hijab and saying it wasn't mandatory and the next day having to wear one when visiting IRGC facilities and expos. Very funny. How curious

Western Imperialism could not have been more of a success story given how even their allegedly "anti-racist" rhetoric pushes movements that keep other eastern nations from progressing or creating common welfare. Like at some point in time they only saw middle-easterners as savage terrorists and after realizing that was horrifically racist, they decided to change the narrative so that islamofascist terrorists are actually great people instead of trying to distinguish normal middle-easterners from the actual terrorists because that would obviously be too much effort and too much nuance for their tiny little racist brains to handle.

I think about that sometimes when people say women’s rights have gone too far. Somewhere, a girl is staring out of a window at a life she is forbidden from touching. And the distance between her and freedom is not talent, effort, or ambition. It is simply the fact that the world decided her gender mattered more than her humanity.
