“And they say, I get it religion boils down to just be a good person. They’re like it’s a good thing. Be a good person. And I always sort of politely say, I don’t think that’s what’s going on here. We wouldn’t still be talking about it. Do you think Jesus was the only Nazarene that had the idea to be nice to people or be a good person? Like, don’t steal and be charitable. You think that was what started a revolution that got him killed? That guy that keeps saying “Be a good person.” Let’s kill him? He was saying wake up. It’s a dream. Wake up. We’re all equal. Wake up. You think I’m your king? I’m also this homeless person, which isn’t a guilt trip, he’s saying, we’re all together. We’re all in one thing together. There’s no separation. It’s one thing. That threatens power structures. Power is saying “I’m over here. I’m at the Four Seasons and you guys are at the Hotel 8.” Jesus comes in and goes like would you fucking get off it? Like what are you talking about? You’ve gotten lost in your mind, your dualistic thinking. Better, worst, good, bad, important, unimportant, able-bodied, not able-bodied, whatever it is. He’s just like, we’re literally under water. We’re under water and you think you’re separate. You’re soaking in this and that is not- Like it’s not sexy, vibrant, electric, interesting, for someone to say just be a good person. If I want that I’ll talk to any of my relatives. “That’s what Jesus was about he’s about being a good person.” Was he? Was he? You really think people called him the goddamn King of Kings cuz he was like “Be decent.” You think that was a new idea?”
