Welp, you all won’t believe what I stayed up to 2 am working on!

Anyway, have an aroace themed Project Hail Mary cover. I tried to keep a good chunk of the OG cover design (because I actually really like it) and just added in some fun additions to it~

Ryland Grace was not a sad man waiting for his demise. He was happy. He loved teaching, his students were SO important to him. He had a good life.

But he didn't fit societal norms and that somehow made his life less valuable? The way Stratt saying "oh you're not married, you don't have any immediate family or even a dog" was treated as part of an explanation as to why he should be more willing to go on a SUICIDE MISSION?! As if that somehow made his life less important? As if it made him some sort of expandable material?

It's genuinely so sad how realistic it is. It's also part of the reason why I wholeheartedly believe in aroace Grace. It's just such a common experience within the community that even if it's unintentional it feels like finally getting some sort of representation.

So, Episode 9 getting an early theatrical release has been confirmed, and thankfully, it is not limited to the US or Cinemark theaters, which were both major issues many initially had when this information got leaked. Many people, including myself, are excited that we are getting such an opportunity (I literally bought a ticket myself since it's coming to an AMC relatively close to me).

That being said, there are still MANY fans who will not be able to see the finale until it releases on YouTube, and we as a fandom need to be considerate of that. So here are some friendly reminders:

Please do not record or take photos in the theater during the movie. It's rude and distracting. I'm usually not against people doing it for media preservation purposes, like pirating, but it just feels disrespectful in this case.

IF you are going to post about it online, PLEASE TAG YOUR SHIT CORRECTLY. This way, people can filter out tags until the episode is publicly released. I recommend using the tags: #tadc #the amazing digital circus #tadc spoilers (last one is the most important)

Also, I would recommend using the hide under cut on top of that before you discuss the episode.

Remember proper theater etiquette. I do not want a Minecraft Movie situation where people are screaming every few minutes and throwing popcorn everywhere.

Support the fully public release on YouTube, even if you've already seen it in theaters! Host watch parties with your friends IRL and online!

“I really wanted to help”

To be honest I thought Netflix had this in the bag, but they chose not to raise their bid to match the final Paramount bid. Pending regulator approval, Paramount will now acquire the whole of Warner, including the Adventure Time franchise and everything else on HBO Max as well as Warner's cable networks. This bidding war has ended.

It's hard to tell at this stage what this means for Adventure Time. As would have been the case with Netflix, it depends how much of the current management they choose to keep in place, and how much they keep Warner intact as an independent entity. But Paramount is also run by a Trump ally, which introduces other ramifications. For example, queer representation could take a hit under a more conservative leadership.

I live in a state where you “have to” report anyone you suspect of being undocumented (that wonderful hellhole of Arizona). Now in practice this law has fallen far short, thank goodness. But if you live in such a place and they start enforcing it, here is how you get around it:

Assume everyone who doesn’t speak English is visiting.

Never ask about their job, because if they tell you they work here then you know they’re not visiting. You see them a lot for several weeks or months? Hm. Someone in the family must be ill. That’s terribly tough. They always dress in old, ratty laborers’ clothes? I feel you, my dude, I can’t afford new clothes either, and my dad has the fashion sense of an aardvark, so sometimes it’s not even about “affording” them. They say they’ve been here for years? You must have misunderstood. Spanish isn’t your first language, after all. First and last name? It never came up, or you don’t recall–you meet a lot of people.

Don’t do more than is expressly asked of you, and do what you are asked with such an intense attention to protocol that not asking you at all becomes more effective than even bothering.

In this case:

“Have you seen an illegal immigrant?”

“Could you describe an illegal immigrant, officer?”

*officer describes a person who is in the country without appropriate paperwork, or who has crossed the border illegally*

“No, sir, I haven’t seen any illegal immigrant.”

1) Even someone who’s working could be here on a migrant (or other sort of) visa (hey, there are a few thousand per year, and *someone*’s got to get them, right?) or could be waiting for their case to resolve in immigration court, after having come to America to join a born or naturalized American family member. 

2) Even people who are working improperly could have come into the country legally – and just overstayed their visa or be violating the conditions of their visa, and you have no idea what the niggly little regulations that govern that might be. 

3) If a law enforcement officer asks you about a neighbor/friend/etc., take this moment to remind them that, unlike them, you cannot ask a random person off the street for their ID and be entitled to a response. 

4) Even if someone has told you that they are undocumented, you still don’t know, do you? Humans lie all the time. How could you know for sure? You can’t, because they can’t prove that they have a lack of papers. Just because you haven’t seen papers doesn’t mean they don’t exist! 

5) Don’t ever talk to cops in general. Why are you talking to a cop? Stop that, as soon as it is safe and feasible.
