This is probably going to be a super, super, super unpopular opinion, but I just need to get this off my chest.

I know the common Tumblr analysis is that Jax is an actual, literal abuser. People say breaking Gangle's comedy mask is "targeted emotional destruction" to keep her vulnerable, and that his line "she likes it when I'm mean to her" is textbook victim-blaming. Some posts even say Gangle crying when Jax abstracts proves a pathological trauma bond, and that she is using her as a substitute target for his own issues with Ribbit. Honestly, if you analyze the show through that heavy psychological lens, I completely respect your view!

But here is why I see it totally differently! To me, breaking the masks is just classic, mean schoolyard slapstick. When he says she likes it, he isn't some criminal mastermind—she is just an oblivious, tone-deaf jerk who thinks he is "bantering." And when it comes to Gangle crying when he abstracts, it is literally just because she is a total sweetheart who hates seeing anyone suffer! She is a literal ribbon who cries easily because that is her cartoon gimmick, not because she is brainwashed by him. And his mean attitude isn't a calculated abuse cycle; she is just a stressed-out teenager putting up an annoying wall because he doesn't know how to handle the digital world.

He is literally just a terrible, chaotic cartoon bully that I happen to simp for, LMFAO! Like, I can look at her and be like "Damn, Jax be tripping" when he is being a total menace, while still feeling genuinely bad for Gangle and everyone else at the same time. It is a wacky dark comedy, so it is just not that deep to me!
