We recently received feedback on our previous two projects, the sequencing project and the body extension project.
Endi repeatedly stated that both of my projects have a lot of potential and by going back and rethinking some of my processes, grades could be improved. I intend to rework my sequence project to make my piece more understandable and cohesive. My group and I are currently brainstorming ways to improve our body extension piece and video presentation.
REFLECTION AND NEXT STEPS: SEQUENCE PROJECT
We turned in the Sequence project about a month into the semester and in retrospect there are a lot of things I would change. I do not think I fully embraced how the project and I now have some different ideas on how I would redo my piece. I am hoping to improve my grade a little bit so I am currently planning on reorganizing my photos and re-presenting to Endi. In the reflection that Endi sent each of us individually, he spoke a lot about the potential of my piece and appreciated my honest reflection. “There are many ways to think about the composition, format of presentation, the strategy of presenting the images and more.”-Endi. After receiving this feedback I am willing to rethink how I could improve the piece to more effectively represent my original ideas. I hope to work on it during the next two weeks.
REFLECTION AND NEXT STEPS: BODY EXTENSION
Our Body Extension project was presented in the form of a video. We all wore the same assemblage on our bodies but in different ways. The piece was about sensory deprivation and losing control. The four senses we focused on were: sight, hearing, feeling and movement. Callie represented a loss of sight so she wore the pyramid adorned extension over her eyes. The piece appeared to be protruding from where her eye sockets were. The remainder of assemblage hung behind her. Natalie represented lack of hearing and the piece was draped over her head, blocking her ears and then hanging in front of her body. Sophie put the piece on her hands representing lack of feeling, no matter what she did her fingers would not be able to touch an object because the pyramids would stand in the way. I represented lack of movement and was wrapped in the extension, unable to move. For our final presentation of the project, we projected images of the sense we were deprived of on the screen behind us while we stood in front of it. For sight: eyes, hearing: ears, movement: arms, feeling: hands. We played the video on loop in front of the class. Endi said that our project was extremely interesting and has a lot of potential. “There is much promise in your idea of sensory deprivation and how this can be manifested in the form of body extension, individual and group interactions, audio, video, and theatrical presentation, yet also a project that has not been fully developed at least to the extent that you and your group have projected it from the start.” -Endi We plan on re doing aspects of our project and editing our video, we might incorperate new aspects such as passing an object between us.
