Mapping Project
To be completely honest I am beyond confused about this project. I have read the worksheet a number of times and am convinced that I could do pretty much whatever I want and could make it fit into this project description. To stick with that theme of being utterly confused I am thinking I will paint a series of abstract paintings about this class. Abstract art and paintings, in general, can be very confusing and can be interpreted in a number of ways. I believe Methods of Inquiry is very similar in that most of us have no idea what is really going on and our work can be interpreted in many different ways.
I am going to create three paintings, about our last three projects.
The first project was to create a story from other stories. I cut and pasted pieces of the Kafka story “Metamorphosis”. I am going to create an abstract piece representing the story I created. I want parts of the story I created to be evident but for it to also be confusing and ambiguous.
The second project was the sequencing project where I completed a ridiculous amount of research about squirrels on the University of Michigan campus. For this projects painting, I might paint an enormous squirrel because why not. I might also make some very weird abstract piece about the frustration I experienced surrounding that project.
The third project was the group project and we created body extensions. My group created a very strange extension that we could all wear. It was about the restriction of feeling, sight, sound, and movement. I have a bunch of ideas of where I could take this painting.
I think that I will create these paintings using acrylic on canvas. I have some enormous canvases in my dorm and I think this might be a good use for them.
