Change in plans
I think I have decided to completely re structure my project. My passions in life are children and Interior Design. While children may not exactly relate to this project (at least for me), design does. I realized that the classroom we sit in for Methods is boring. Its not very interesting and the stools are brutal to sit on for 3 hours... After re thinking about this semester, I wish that our classroom was more engaging and a space that I look forward to going to. I love my teacher and my classmates and the class itself, but the space alone is not fun for me. I have decided for this project I am going to redesign the classroom. I am going to talk to my classmates and get their opinion on the matter and go from there.Â
I started out by taking pictures of students on their way to class... These images are suppose to represent the fact that each student has a different route and story about how they get to class... Whether they are alone, with a friend, etc...Â
Updated thoughts on mapping project
To be honest, I am a bit confused about this project right now. I know that I still want to interview students both Inside and outside of STAMPS, but I am not sure how I am going to incorporate my own experiences quite yet. I have been thinking about it, but I am still working.
After talking with Endi
Questions and thoughts that have been brought up after my first meeting with Endi:
- building off what I have done and pursuing something new
- how do I strategize this?
- how do I disseminate this information?
- will there be a rubric? or a poster?
- informative, but dull - what do I do with the information I have gathered?
- how do I critically engage us with my personal thought process?
- open up so that I feel less and give more
- how do I enter that sphere and reveal something complex
- choosing to photograph and interview
- narrow down my topic in order to open it up
- map something about my experience here that is not the other persons - then bring together to create one question and then have a series of photographs
- look at Quo Vadis, Django
- me coming from my perspective and talking to people with a different perspective
- is photography what will best represent my ideas?
- different person in each photograph or different people in two or three images?
- revisit sequence project - what matters in the images?

My initial ideas for mapping project
As of right now, my main idea is to interview both students in our methods class and inside of STAMPS and interview students outside of STAMPS. These interviews will include these students day to day challenges, successes, and overall views on what it is like to be in their shoes. I will then take these two videos to compare. I will record their interviews and create a video to summarize their overall thoughts and opinions.Â
Methods Body Extension Class Crit on our Group Project
On Tuesday our groups all presented our body extension projects to the class. When getting feedback, some of the things that were said about my groups project was that we had good incorporation of sound, but when it came to Natalie’s part (where her ears were covered) it would make most sense to take out the sound completely. The class wondered why there was a lot of repetition / why we played the video in a continuous loop. We wanted to see whether or not the class would stop us or interrupt at some point, but we realized we did not play it long enough for that to happen. Another question we got was how do the extensions add to the projection. One suggestion we received was to put all of us in the same frame at some point. This is because it was hard to see that each extension was actually all one piece.Â
End stated that he was intrigued by how the video made him feel and that it made him question the endless possibilities that this video presented. He also stated that it made him think in a powerful manner. He is interested in the back drop and how we chose to use that. Although he thought that I was not in the video, he said he will go back and watch again to view it all again. Thanks for all of the feedback :)Â
Taking photos that we will put into a collage for our projection :)
SOS. Working late because our joints won’t stay together.
Project update: after talking with Endi, we have officially changed our project idea to work with the idea that comes from the star cube. Today we worked with finding the joints, connecting parts and figuring out how we can come together to build one extension.

Continuation... we will be projecting images off of our pieces. Here we are experimenting with materials. Our first thought was white paper, but after talking with Endi, we might test out something even more fun like aluminum.
Work day #6: Assembly line! Today we started constructing our triangles… Natalie formed them, Izzy cut tape for us, I placed the tape and Sophie folded. Then we all came together to fold. We are still currently figuring out how exactly each piece will fit together.
