i have a theory as to why ive seen so much roadkill lately and it directky connects to WD Gasters role in undertale/deltarune

life update: bluesphere played our first two shows this past week and it was a blast. first night was on a bill with some guitar bands that i didn't know very well and second night was on a bill with close friends of mine. a keyboardist in one of the bands on the first night compared the stuff we played to early oneohtrix and i had to nearly physically stop myself from letting it get to my head too much. overall i'm very happy that this is the kind of music i'm making right now and i'm glad that i'm finally getting to perform and be in more immediate artistic conversation w the people around me

oh you're concerned about the discord changes? you should switch to using Pig. you have to host your own server and it doesn't work on mobile and obviously it doesn't have the fancier features like screensharing and voice calls and servers and file sharing and friend requests and instant messaging but it's compatible with ModoHost and Grub
literally after 5 minutes of being logged in all images on here stop loading. like not even taking a long time to buffer just staying in diagonal gradient-mode indefinitely. this place is falling apart like a brisket lol
just solved P vs NP. it NP. you dont expect the underdog
realizing that i have a musical fetish for sounds that are very like. gigantic super distorted super gnarly transient, pure sine tone tails. like i keep making them without really realizing that's what i'm dong
This is a sample i recorded the other week in band practice. I made it by pressing down on the 12th fret of the top 2 strings of my bandmate's pickup'd acoustic guitar and letting the harmonics ring out. from there i just fed it out to a distortion effect with the gain cranked really high. i think it came out sounding really pretty

Crazy how nobody from brockhampton is particularly famous anymore
like usually when supergroups like that break up at least one member is able to parlay it into a successful solo career (timberlake, stefani, knowles) and i guess i sort of expected that to hapen to kevin abstract? i know he released a couple of moderately successful rap albums before brockhampton became a thing. but wikipedia says he released two albums since brockhampton broke up and i've heard nothing about either of them
One explanation for this was that brockhampton's appeal to record labels is its plug-and-play-ness. if you look at their final lineup on wikipedia, you'll see that there were 4 members of brockhampton who contributed nothing musical to the group; they were only there to do business management and promotion. all production, creative direction, management, graphic design, promotion, and videography were done in house by people who understood brockhampton's identity very intimately because they had a stake in what brockhampton was. as a result, Empire (record label for the saturation trilogy) and RCA (record label for everything else they released) probably didn't have to do much other than handle distribution and concert booking. Brockhampton was sort of a self-perpetuating money printer for them.
on the flipside, the central thing that made brockhampton enticing to record labels is no longer present within any individual member's solo endeavors. popular music careers of that echelon are defined by sustained creative partnerships between the star and their team. the individual rappers in brockhampton likely never forged those relationships with anyone outside of brockhampton because they didn't need to. if you're one of the non-vocalist members of brockhampton, you simply don't have the time or energy to support the seven solo careers of each rapper. and even if you did, or if you just decided to sever ties with the other six and only team up with one rapper, i imagine it would be frustrating and demoralizing for the producer to have their artistic relationship with the rapper transform from something collaborative to something that explicitly puts the rapper above you. and for the rappers, if they can't source their former brockhampton colleagues, i imagine it would be frustrating and demoralizing to have the people who manage your career, make your beats, shoot your music videos, make your album art, and promote your music go from being your friends to being some corporate stooges whose main allegiance is to the record label, not to you.
Crazy how nobody from brockhampton is particularly famous anymore

I don't get berghain as a concept. There is no world in which germans should be deciding what's cool
TWENTY TWO YEARS since "the rap against rockism" hit the paper of record and people are still whining about it. there are people who currently hold BACHELOR'S DEGREES that are younger than "the rap against rockism." safe to say at this point that kelefa sanneh created the duchamp's fountain of music criticism
like do you think that the guy who wrote this realizes how much power he's projecting onto someone who probably makes the same amount of money as a grocery store manager
