since the heatwave is ravishing through europe and the summer is just unfolding, we may be exposed to even more extreme temperatures than a year before. it's important to know what to expect and which precautions to take when you're even more vulnerable to its effects.

meds like SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclics and more will make you:

sweat more - remember about hydration, take a bottle of water with you every time you leave the house

overheat quicker - stay inside during the greatest heat, if you can. wear breathable, loose clothes, preferably cotton or linen ones

more prone to a heatstroke - protect your head and skin, avoid needless heat exposure, take shelter in ventilated places when you feel dizzy outside

i know that it's unfair, but now - more than ever - you need to pay extra attention to your body and any symptoms that may appear. if you don't have an access to AC, invest in a fan, ventilate your room at night, wear light clothes that protect your skin from the direct sunlight. don't forget about the spf while you do it, you may be more prone to sunburns.

When you sweat, you don't only lose water, you also lose salts. Electrolytes. If your body is low on electrolytes and you keep drinking plain water, you won't feel any more hydrated, because your body won't be able to retain that water.

To replenish electrolytes, you can drink a sports drink like gatorade/powerade/pedialyte/etc (whatever brands yall have across the pond), or mix an electrolyte drink packet in with a bottle of water, or just straight up mix some salt with water and eat a banana (bananas have potassium, which is one of the electrolytes). If you're going the poor woman's route of salt in water, sea salt is better than table salt, because sea salt will have some magnesium in it (another electrolyte).

Do NOT underestimate heat exhaustion or heat stroke! It can and will kill you if you're not careful!

No, it's not. It's also so incredibly confusing for the most vulnerable women who are already at risk for not getting appropriate medical care.

I work with homeless people. Most of my clients are drug addicts. A lot of them have some sort of developmental disability, others have had head injuries that impact their cognitive function. Some of them have psychotic disorders that make it hard for them to recognize what is and isn't real. Most of them have intense trauma that impacts the way they interact with the world.

Most of my clients are not functionally literate. I have an easier time counting which clients have completed high school than those who haven't. These women have very limited access to the internet and phones, and when they can access the internet, their options are still limited because they cannot properly read.

So if you change "women's healthcare" to some bullshit like "cervix havers healthcare" or "menstruaters healthcare" and put that on the posters instead, these clients don't give it a second glance. They don't know enough about their own bodies to recognize a term like "cervix" including what it is or if they have one. They cannot understand the nuance that those terms apply to them.

I work with a woman who has severe brain damage from her lifetime. Abusive childhood, early drug use, and then life on the streets has left her memory and mind severely impaired. She needs her case manager to remember her bank pin for her, because a four digit code is too much for her. She struggles to read words like "would" or "shelter" and has a limited understanding of her own body. She has liver issues that she keeps identifying as kidney issues because she doesn't really know or understand the difference between the organs. Do you think that she would hear an advertisement for "cervix havers" and recognize that it applied to her? No, of course not.

I work with another woman who has a severe developmental disability and a psychotic disorder. Abusive childhood with suspected child sex trafficking. She's had two children already, neither of which she has custody of. She can recognize what pregnancy is but not the finer details. To her, the baby grew in her belly. She could not make a uterus if you showed her a picture diagram of the female reproductive system. If you put up a sign for "uterus owners" and their healthcare, she'll walk right past it. She won't recognize that it applies to her.

B) his wife just went through labor and birth and he actively WANTED to piss her off in this vulnerable situation

C) he wanted to name his daughter after a porn star, meaning he just sees women as sex objects, EVEN HIS NEWBORN DAUGHTER. And everytime he says her name, he'll think of sex (absolutely disgusting)

D) he actually told his daughter about who she's named after, probably wanting to humiliate her and "put her in her place."

Then they feel like they have accomplished their goal of shaping a woman into their own ideal, breaking her character in the process. He doesn't care about the pain he causes her.

Same with the males in these screenshots. Those are not only stupid posts but real confessions about how they feel about women in general and their entitlement and objectification of women's bodies. They are no different, not worse, not better, than the men I described before. Only difference is they inject themselves with artificial hormones.

So the other day I was in the elevator with one of her friends from the club and I thought I’d be polite so I said hi. Immediately this person (a trans man I think) says to me, “I don’t talk to detransitioners. Class traitor.” And walked off the elevator (on what I’m pretty sure wasn’t his floor). I swear I wouldn’t believe this happened if it hadn’t literally happened to me. I genuinely don’t fucking get it.

Anyway it gets worse.

One of the people from the club is on the board of the college’s Hillel and has been trying to get me excluded from the Hillel. I had no idea why, now I do! Once again, I have said NOTHING to these people I have been completely kind and cordial the only thing they know is that, I guess, my friend told them I detransitioned. The Hillel coordinator has asked to have a meeting with me to discuss “my future at the group.”

I know y’all are gonna say I’m leaving things out but I swear there is NOTHING else to this story. I was completely kind at the trans group meeting. They loved me and invited me back. They have ONLY been giving me the cold shoulder since I told my friend that I’m detrans.

the united states has to continue committing 'war crimes' just to exist. war crimes which the united states government made itself immune to answering for, because it knows that it needs the death of innocents to exist, and that that's bad optics to americans. this feels like something obvious to me, maybe because of who I am and the situation in which I was raised, where I saw the bullshit as early as I can remember having a sense of self.
