Color theories and serial killers aside, the s5 redo is what’s really intriguing. Eddie’s storyline then was SO queer coded, and could’ve (should’ve) led to his awakening, but that didn’t happen. Depriving Buck of his main supports right now is PERFECT for a realization though. He doesn’t really go to anyone but Maddie about Eddie, and he doesn’t go to anyone but Eddie about much of anything else. He’s on his own, forced to face his emotions without Maddie or Eddie to guide/ advise him, and they're even bringing back Ravi so Buck faces the fact Eddie is replaced but really can't be. He has no LI to keep him occupied, so he’s spinning out with only one conclusion to reach. That he loves Eddie.

Meanwhile Eddie is forced to confront another aspect of his identity. He's always been just "firefighter and dad," and he confronted the firefighter aspect in s5. God has spoken. But he had to step away from the job to realize that's where he belongs. Same thing with Christopher. He has to step away and confront the fact that his parents failed him and that he is a good dad.
