people are so annoying about people who struggle to brush their teeth. and for why.

i've said this before but it's extremely frustrating how many issues caused by depression are treated as being a motivation issue, or a knowledge issue, or something. that people with depression just aren't motivated to clean their teeth or don't know that their teeth and gum health is important or don't know how bad it can get. and that's just not the case they have a fucking disability

but it's also super annoying how people assume issues with brushing teeth are innately due to depression. "try to brush your teeth tonight! i believe in you!" okay but your faith in people's abilities will not help the dyspraxic person suddenly develop the fine motor control they need to brush their teeth. your faith in people's abilities will not help the person w/ sensory issues suddenly be able to ignore how awful brushing their teeth feels. your faith in people's abilities will not help the person with chronic fatigue who physically cannot make themselves get out of bed to brush their teeth. and this is a tiny portion of the reasons people may struggle to brush their teeth.
