pink, have you read the lord of the hammer? i've heard it's pretty popular, and you kind of remind me of a character from it, as do a lot of your friends. (i'm pretty sure one of the characters has a huge fanbase online...) if you have, were you surprised when you found out the dark world was really similar to it?
I was supposed to read it for school - who WASN'T assigned that series? But I couldn't get through it. Books are so BORING.
...I didn't do very well in that class.
I did read a comic adaptation of it later down the line, though. Comics and shows are just so much BETTER than books! Wouldn't you agree!? I want to SEE the action! SEE the TEARS! FEEL REAL FEELINGS! I don't need a million flowery pages describing the texture of the main character's beard!
...Even I heard about it when the original author died. The whole town was distraught. He was such a beloved member of the community.
But who CARES!? He did everything he wanted with his life. He was loved by everyone. He never made any mistakes. He never faced any hardship. He lived the perfect life. There was nothing else he could have asked for.
By my age, he probably already had his whole life figured out. Meanwhile, here I am. A college dropout shut-in, who's wasting their entire life doing nothing.
Knowing about him, it made me feel like... like I was a failure. Like now I could never catch up. Like it was already too late for me.
So, who cares? Better to let someone else take the spotlight.
Like ME. Because before, I was nobody. But now? Now!? NOW!? EVERYBODY knows my name! I'm popular! I'm a STAR! I'M A SENSATION! I'm LIVING PROOF that you can be anything you put your mind to if you just believe.
...The Dark World didn't really remind me of that story, but the comic I read did take some creative liberties, so it was pretty different from the original Lord of The Hammer.
And you know what I say to that? GOOD! It was BETTER that way. I don't CARE about your boring men going on adventures. THIS ONE is full of PRETTY GIRLS! With WEAPONS!
I don't know if that comic adaptation ever got finished... I never saw a seventh installment show up at the library. Maybe the author just moved on to bigger and better things.
Wait, ooh, wait, which character do I remind you of~? And which one is Ory? And Green? Tell me, tell me, tell me!
