Hey. Heyhey. Do me a favor real quick.
If you don't already know you have issues doing so, squat down real quick. Bend your knees all the way and touch the floor. Just make sure you can do it. Okay? For me? And then stand up all the way and make sure you can balance on one foot.
Like. You don't need to blow it into some huge thing. Just. Make sure all your bits and peices still work the way you think they do.
Can you turn your head to look behind you without twisting your shoulders? What about standing on your toes? If you sit down on the floor can you get back up without using your hands?
If there was ever a tumblr post worth sending to your mom, it's this one.
Just saying, bodies are a use it or lose it kinda thing.
okay so every time I see this post crop back up in queues and notifications I end up thinking about it. Because I made the post and even I'm still doing the thing where I read the post about maintaining range of motion in my delicate meatsuit and I nod and hmm and think yeah that's a good idea and then dont move from where I'm curled up shrimp style staring at the nightmare rectangle.
So like. Thinking real hard about moving doesn't count as moving. Major bummer. Anyways. Joints.
i think we should add media literacy to the water supply
if your main position is "i don't know how you people can support harm reduction. as for me, i'm for harm abolition. no i don't have a plan. no actually i mostly just bitch at people advocating for harm reduction as a way of making myself look pure" your opinions on political strategy are irrelevant and you yourself are beneath contempt you need to examine your beliefs, your need to feel righteous, your actual impact on the world, and how you can go about making an impact that aligns with your beliefs.
If you really believe harm is bad, and eliminating harm is a worthy goal, you have to start with small steps: eliminate a small harm, not all harms all at once. Reduce a great harm a little, perhaps by helping one individual impacted by that harm, and then another individual, and another... You cannot tackle all harm at once; you must take smaller bites. Set this reality against your need to feel right & correct & pure & perfect. Reducing some harm instead of all harm is not failure! You are not a failure! You may fail now and again, but failing once or twice or ten thousand times doesn't change the fact that you can still try again and succeed! You are not a failure even when you fail to reach your impossible goal of perfection.
You may not be able to complete the work of eliminating harm. But you can do your part to work toward that goal, reducing harm where you can. Your work layered with all the work of everyone who came before you, everyone who works beside you, and everyone who picks up the work when you set it down--all this work layered into making things besmal--that's a goal both possible and worth fighting for.
I'm sure someone else has already posted this elsewhere, but Robert Caro put it extremely well in The Power Broker:
"[Al Smith] had no patience for reformers who didn’t understand the importance of practical politics in getting things done, who refused to compromise, who insisted on having the bill as it was written, who raged loudly at injustice who fought single-mindedly for an unattainable ideal. Their pigheadedness had the effect of dragging to political destruction politicians to listened to them, of ruining careers men had taken years to build. He had seen it happen. And more important, what was the inevitable result of their efforts?
Since they refused to compromise and operate within the political framework - the only framework with which their proposals could become reality - the laws they proposed were never enacted, and therefore at the end of their effort the people they wanted to help, the people who he knew so well needed help, hadn’t been helped at all. If anything, they had been hurt; the stirring up of hard feelings and bitterness delayed less dramatic but still useful reforms that might have been enacted. When the reformers were finished with all their hollering and were back in their comfortable homes, the widows of the Fourth Ward would still be forced to give up their children before they could get charity. What good was courage if its only effect was to hurt those you were trying to help? "
Always try to leave things better than you found them. You can’t know all the consequences of your actions, the downstream effects; you can’t know if the thing you tried to do in fact did more evil than good. All you can do is listen and meet the world where it is and try to help where it’s hurting. And the smaller things you help, the more likely it will just help and not hurt. The bigger and more abstract you get, the farther from the people involved, the more suffering will be created.
public defenders get behind me. i’ll defend you this time
“so you like criminals?” I LIKE THE RIGHT TO A FAIR TRIAL.
One of worst things copaganda ever perpetuated is the rhetoric that if you aren't guilty of breaking the law, you shouldn't value your personal privacy against the state's surveillance and interrogation. That only guilty people hire lawyers when talking to police.

Oh boy, a complex character who's a woman! I love messy characters who hurt everyone around them and continue the cycles that hurt them!! Can't wait to share this joy with fellow fans– why's everyone calling her a bitch
"Just because I'm right, doesn't mean I'm being helpful" is a vastly underrated thought process that I strongly encourage others to get comfortable with
My resolution last year was to do one thing before bed that would make my morning feel easier, and that’s become a daily habit that I’m carrying into this new year.
Some nights even filling up the kettle and setting an empty mug out for my morning tea felt hard. But I was always thankful for it in the morning.
Other nights, one thing would lead to another, and I’d wake up in a clean house with everything ready to go.
And, on a rare few nights, the one thing that I could do to make my morning easier was going straight to bed and allowing myself to rest.
What stayed the same each day is that I would take a moment to think of what I could do for my future self and do it, even after a hard day. And I would wake up knowing that I had done my best and any effort—no matter how small—was a kindness to myself.
I’ve been doing a lot of “a treat for future me” moments lately.
That’s a great way to look at it, and I love this artist! (Anna-Laura: instagram / website)
Movement nudge! The movements you do now will be a treat for future you. So nudging you to get up and move!

I hope I'm online when it happens. I want to see a sudden flood of crab rave memes right after refreshing my dash, and in the middle of it all, the Castiel news meme. That's how I want to learn of it; not through anything solemn or serious, but via overwhelming silly celebration.
its unfortunate that artists get talked out of their rare perspectives so often. ‘its just not done that way’ someone says and artist goes ‘oh okay guess ill sand that part off.’ bud that is your SPARK. so much of my success is from holding firm on the things i do that were called ridiculous
this timeline CRAVES your rare perspective. it CRAVES the thing that speaks from your heart but ‘isn’t the way things are done.’ when i talk about ‘what is your story OUTSIDE of the text?’ i am speaking of this. your personal tap into the cosmic is your rare perspective
My Old Ass (2024)
so like. okay so like you have this online ecosystem where everyone's all fractured and algorithmically siloed into their little groups, right?? and the only contact they have with outsiders is through screenshots, meaning you're only ever seeing the stuff that's objectionable or funny enough to be screenshotted in the first place. and the people who rise to the rank of screenshot curator are the people who spend all day sniffing around the other camps for stuff to screenshot. so you have this epistemological chokepoint dictated by someone whose main hobby is sneaking around with a camera getting all up in someone else's business and making it into a public spectacle. and the easiest way to make it into a public spectacle is to make your audience scared and angry. and the easiest way to do that is to play on existing negative biases, like pushing an open door yknow?? so you have this dynamic that rewards prejudice and elevates it to a position of narrative authority. and the people who can do this the most effectively and consistently are the ones who have no qualms about stalking marginalised people and crafting narratives about how they're scary and evil. and you reeeaaally gotta question whether or not any of this is actually beneficial to anyone or if it's just doing to you what fox news did to your dad, yknow??

I was training a new LAWFIRM ASSOCIATE, a LAWYER, and told him he needed to go to a specific page in a PDF and he asked me how to do that.
