Most people on this website are literally this image
my biggest word of advice to anyone scared to post their work/ocs/involve themselves in creative spaces online is to earnestly get interested in other people. be kind to others, like/reblog their work, tell them what you like about their work, get to know them as people.
this isnât to âweaselâ your way into anything or having ulterior motives or whatever. if you become friends with someone then thatâs great! but thereâs always something very personal about posting any kind of creative work. weâre all trying our best to connect with each other and the best way to get comfortable is to get to know others and show up as yourself. đŤśđž
Pygmy raccoon conservation volunteer opportunities
Hello friends! If you have been wondering if there are other ways you can help with the conservation of the critically endangered pygmy raccoon, we have a few remote volunteer opportunities available!
Donor relations:
Managing donor list on Monday (a browser based work management platform)
Sending thank you messages
Creating and sending out newsletters with conservation project updates and fundraising emails
Ideally a long term position. Youâd get a custom domain email address and access to canva premium, which is fun.
Grant writing:
Finding potential grant opportunities for conservation research and program development (Weâre quite literally trying to build a sanctuary among other things)
Conducting research, collecting data, and developing background information for proposals
Developing and writing grant proposals
Can be a one-off thing, or a long term thing
Educational Materials Designer
Making educational posters/brochures/other graphics to target different groups about pygmy raccoon conservation issues
Can be a one-off thing, or a long term thing
Youâd get access to canva premium if you were interested in this being a long term thing
Spanish Translator
Editing the shitty auto translate copy on the website
Potentially making WhatsApp calls to vendors in Mexico to get quotes for building materials and foods and whatnot
Translating educational material
Some more info: As we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit, this volunteering can be used for community service hours, or, if your company does paid volunteer days, those too. Iâm happy to sign anything needed. Pretty much all of these opportunities can be a one off/every once in a while type volunteer thing, except for the donor relations, where Iâd love to have someone help a little more regularly. Itâs just become completely impossible for me to try to keep up with my research/permit applications/writing journal articles/paying for raccoon stuff in Mexico/etc on top of running the nonprofit needed to actually fund the work we are doing.
For anyone wanting to do something longer term, I would be able to get you access to a naturetourism.org email and canva premium. And if anyone has an idea for how to help out in a way not currently listed, just let me know!
Send me a message here on tumblr if you are interested in helping out! Or, if you know someone off tumblr who might be interested, they can contact me at [email protected]
Next time transphobes call trans healthcare "experimental" you can show them this
penicillin was first discovered in 1928; vaginoplasty is less experimental
ibuprofen was first discovered in 1961; phalloplasty and HRT are less experimental
Adderall was first applied as an ADHD treatment in 1994; puberty blockers are less experimental
you have to forgive the printer because it's one of the most machine-ass machines we interact with on a day to day basis. that thing says kerchunk. hardly anything says kerchunk these days. you can't get mad at her when she kerchunks up a little.
Crazy that tech has gotten so bad that we're doing printer forgiveness now

bro i LOVE indigenous fusion music i love it when indigenous people take traditional practices and language and apply them in new cool ways i love the slow decay and decolonisation of the modern music industry
I WILL !!! I WILL DO THAT
some of my favourite indigenous artists, in no particular order:
Inuit artists:
the jerry cans (esp their album Inuusiq)
beatrice deer
twin flames
MÄori artists:
jordyn with a why
Indigenous australian artists:
tilly tjala thomas (i particularly love ngai yurlku nhiina)
kardajala kirridarra (srlsly check out ngajabu (Grandmother's Song))
i've also heard good things abt Baker Boy, but i haven't checked out his stuff yet
Another one for Inuit artists is Piqsiq! Two sisters whoâve been doing traditional throat singing since they were kids. They make some really gorgeous, eerie, atmospheric stuff. Highly recommend watching this video of them performing live a cappella using a looping machine, because they might be the coolest people on the planet actually
(Jo March nearly in tears voice) women,,,,
For anyone into North Asian and Central Asian folk music, there's this incredible Siberian folk-pop band called Otyken! The group is mostly women and they're from multiple indigenous groups in Siberia, with songs being sung in their range of different languages. They're so much fun and their music videos are amazing!
i'll go ahead and recommend The Halluci Nation (formerly known as A Tribe Called Red), an EDM group from First Nations Ontario that do really cool fusions of First Nations music with dubstep, moombahton, and hip hop.
I really really really appreciate people who share videos on posts like these, because almost without a doubt every time I love the music but Iâve never got the spoons to click on links and look through a bunch of music or worse google the artist I always end up too overwhelmed to start and I hate that
Haven't seen Belle Sisoski here yet so here we go: she's the current Artist of Year for BURO impact Awards. She's from Malaysia and knows how to play an insane amount of ethnic instruments and mixes them with her own voice. She does covers and her own songs, mixes ethnic instruments with Techno and shows the process. And she's also a live DJ at 19!
And one of her own:
Oh and of course there's also the HU and Bloodywood for people who like more rock and metal mixed in:
1876 is a Pow Wow punk rock band from Portland, Oregon
Alien Weaponry is an awesome MÄori metal band
Darkaside is a Papuan metal band
Shepherds Reign is a Samoan metal band
Ts'msyen (pacific northwest coast) black metal
you ever just sit and realise u canât remember 80% of your childhood? like ⌠what happened? who am i ..?
Many people in the comments are saying âtraumaâ, but this is actually a very normal occurrence. Itâs called Childhood Amnesia, and itâs a process which, as the brain reorganizes itself for cognitive thought that is developed in late childhood, it changes the Accessibility of those memories during recall. Many childhood memories are available to the person, but they will not be remembered during regular recall activity, you have to âtrickâ your brain into remembering with different tactics.
This is because there are two parts to memories - their encoding and their recall. The encoding determines their availability, their recall determines their accessibility. The reason why trauma memory and childhood amnesia are different is in this distinction. Trauma memory is often encoded differently, bypassing to the limbic system where it is stored as intrinsic memory. It canât be recalled because it was never encoded. Childhood amnesia, however, seems to indicate that the memories are encoded, but we lose access to them as we age. This is most likely due to the development of brain structures that fundamentally change our encoding and recall of memory as we get older.
This is an important distinction, because trauma memory is âstored in the bodyâ, i.e. you get triggers that send your body into a cascade of uncontrollable feelings, sensations and reactions. Whereas childhood memories wonât generally do that, they are just recalled at odd times with odd associations.
reblogging this because Iâve legit seen people freaking out when they realised they canât remember some of their childhood, thinking they might have some repressed trauma.

I keep saying there are literally millions of good reasons to wear a respie in public, and people keep ignoring me.
Can unfortunately confirm this is 100% real. Sources and more info below.
EFF's Threat Lab used static code analysis to confirm Meta deployed facial recognition to millions of Ray-Ban smart glasses. The "Name Tag"
TL;DR: On June 4, 2026, the Electronic Frontier Foundation published âMove Fast, Surveil Things,â confirming through static code analysis that Meta has already deployed facial recognition code to millions of Ray-Ban smart glasses. The internal âName Tagâ feature converts every face in view into a 2,048-number faceprint array and matches it against a stored database. An EFF researcher activated the feature in debug mode and watched the glasses detect a known face in real time. Metaâs spokesperson says this is just âevidence of exploration.â Exploration doesnât ship to millions of devices. This is staging for launch, and internal documents show Meta planned to flip the switch while privacy groups were too busy to fight back. ...You donât need a central database when every user builds their own local faceprint collection. The faces still get scanned. The biometric data still gets created. Meta just outsources the storage to your phone, and the legal liability to you.
-via State of Surveillance, June 7, 2026. Emphasis mine.
But good news! There are things you can do to protect yourself and your community. As quoted from the article:
What You Can Do
Assume Youâre Being Scanned
If someone near you is wearing Ray-Ban Meta glasses, treat it like a running camera, because it is. The small LED indicator thatâs supposed to signal recording can be covered with tape, and Metaâs âalways enabledâ mode processes video without activating it [6]. The Nearby Glasses app can detect Meta Ray-Bans via Bluetooth.
Lock Down Your Meta Profiles
Name Tag matches faces against Meta platform data. If you have Facebook or Instagram accounts, set your profile photo to something that isnât your face. Make your accounts private. Better yet, consider whether you need them at all. Every photo of your face on Metaâs platforms is training data for identifying you later.
Support the Legal Pushback
The EFF, ACLU, and EPIC are fighting this on legal, legislative, and technical fronts. Texasâs investigation proves state-level enforcement works: Meta paid $1.4 billion last time Texas came knocking over biometrics. Push for biometric privacy laws in your state. Illinois and Texas showed the way.
Donât Buy the Glasses
Every pair sold expands the surveillance network. Meta has shipped millions already. Each one is a camera pointed at everyone else. If you own a pair, understand that the facial recognition code is on your device right now, and Meta can activate it with a software update whenever they decide the political moment is right.
-via State of Surveillance, June 7, 2026. Emphasis mine. And remember that for an undocumented person in the US right now, facial recognition spyware identifying them could be the difference between life and death.
Just days after a damning WIRED report exposed that Meta had quietly embedded facial recognition technology (FRT) code into millions of phon
Hey good news they're already quietly removed the code!!!!
Public outcry matters!!!
But still don't buy the glasses, they can add the code back in by pushing an invisible update whenever they please
Happy World Oceans day! đ
