Hello everyone! I'm tay! I've been observing the hypno community since before 2020 and particpating in a small way since later 2023.
This is a sideblog where I'm mostly going to talk about my personal experiances related to the topic. So far I'm mostly a 'tist, and very occasionally a subject.
This is a nonsexual blog, though I won't call it SFW bc I'm not sure I want to share all of this in a workplace setting either way! That is to say, I'm fine with kink blogs reblogging my post, I can't stop that, but any attempts to interact with me in a sexual manner perosnally will result in a swift block.
I will try my best to tag extensively, especially flashing images and spirals as I reblog or share them, but I tend to... not remember to do that. But once I get into the swing of things, I'll edit this post to explain my tagging system.

Mostly got bored. Get inducted, idiot
Visualization inductions take perhaps some of the most initial buy in of the styles I have at my disposal. Rather than leading you to a mental state with twisting words, or forcing one by first directing your physical state with breathing exercises and physical relaxation, this one requires an agreement. The agreement that when I say picture this place or thing in your mind, that you will, and that you will continue to as you read my words. That both makes my job easier and harder. In the end of it, hypnosis is majority buy-in, so getting that commitment from the jump is a strong reason to believe that further work will be justified. At the same time, it is my job to know what images will hold fast in your mind, and what will leave you confused or unimpressed. And yet, that is a burden I welcome.
So, picture with me, a room. Dimly lit, cozy, filled with whatever brick-a-brack you desire. The details aren't important to me- it is your room after all. All I care about is that you are there, and I am there, and it is comfortable enough for you to relax. That is all.
This room is yours to customize, yours to explore. Yours to decorate. I am but a guest. But I brought something with me. A projector. Something I can point at one of the blank walls to make the space feel changed, if just for a little bit.
So, imagine with me, I turn on my projector. It hums, subtlety, and suddenly, on the blank wall, a jungle appears. Reach out- you can actually move your arm if you'd like- and you probably won't feel anything. And yet the jungle on that wall looks as real as anything else in this room. That jungle that is now part of your room.
And like the rest, you can choose to explore it. Decide to move through the space, and suddenly, you're pushing through leaves- they rustle as you pass them by. There's a crunch as you step over twigs, and birdsong can be heard in the air. Its a forest.
And yet, when you turn back, its only your room.
And then, its only words on a screen.

"The lights are so pretty, aren't they?" The voice of your partner snaps you back to reality. You realise that you'd been lost in thought, daydreaming while at the hot pools with your partner.
"Umm yeah, they really are," you manage to stutter out through your daze, looking up at the lights hanging from the ceiling. Of course, the first thing you both noticed when you'd walked into the private spa was the multiple, colourful jellyfish shaped lights suspended at various heights above the pool.
"Which one is your favourite?" she continues, "I think you'll like the pink one there." She points at one just above your eyesight.
"Wait which one is pink?" You ask, head spinning as your eyes struggle to focus on any one light in the sea above you.
"That one right there. Hmm wait no," she smirks, "seems like the colour has cycled past pink." You start to turn towards her, when she grabs your chin and tilts your head up forcing you to keep looking, "just keep staring, and I'm sure it will cycle back through to pink eventually."
You stare, eyes growing ever more blank. Even if she wasn't holding your chin, your body is too weak to do anything else. Your partner leans in close, whispering quietly in your ear. At least you think thats whats happening. You can't be sure because it's almost like the lights are sucking up your attention, stealing your thoughts. Capturing your memories and dragging them up with them into the glistening sea. You can feel your grasp of what's happening around you slipping, as everything goes blank....

One of my favorite moments in engaging in casual and conversational hypnosis is that moment that the hypnotee realizes what is happening.
They've been listening. Agreeing. Being guided to just let their tension slip away and their attention narrow in on me and my words...
and then they notice.
Like a little perk of attention. A 'Hmm?' or a '!' a spark of activity in that gently lulling and pacified mind... which I use to just gently coo, gently hush, gently brush my finger on forehead or temple, gently invite.
Silently communicate 'Yes, it's okay.' 'Yes, you're allowed.' 'Yes, this is happening' 'Yes, you're going to let it.' 'Yes, it's nice.' 'Yes, you want this' 'Yes.'
That's right.
Then the melting as they accept. As they follow. As they sink?
I live for that brief moment. Of recognition followed by acceptance.

Well you see there's a time and place for all experiences. Closer to the surface then, sure, soft and floaty sing-song seduction that just makes you drift.
But when you're deep? Really really deep? Just heavy and heady emptiness completely consumed by the pulsing lights.
A place for everything and everything in it's place.
Which would you say hinders the establishment of operant conditioning more, presenting the stimulus without prompting the desired response or prompting the response and not presenting the stimulus? I’m struggling with getting it to work. For normal reasons.

A common mistake in hypnosis and conditioning would be to give the reward or stimulus in general too frequently. In operant conditioning, we have what are called "schedules of reinforcement", which speak to frequency and technique in the timing of providing stimuli.
Providing the reward every time would be called "Continuous Reinforcement". This is a fine method of conditioning, but it is far from the most effective.
Partial Reinforcement Schedules are any means of conditioning that don't provide the stimuli every single time.
Fixed Ratio & Fixed Interval

Fixed schedules suffer from a relatively predictable problem.
Fixed Ratio schedules are when a stimulus is provided after a certain number of behaviors are completed.
Fixed Interval schedules are when a reinforcement stimuli is provided at regular intervals (say, every hour).
The issues with Fixed schedules comes in the fact that we are aware of things (sadly). If a pattern is predictable, then we are both able to anticipate when it's about to happen, lessening the impact of the reward, and we know that right after the stimuli is finished, we won't be getting another one for a predictable amount of time.
Not only are there often lulls immediately after the stimuli, but the conditioning holds far, far weaker than both continuous and the other type of partial schedule.
When the stumuli stops being provided at the regular time (that singular moment being the only time where it feels possible), then its far easier for that anticipation to be flipped on its head and have a very negative impact, very quickly undoing any progress.

Variable Ratio & Variable Interval

Variable schedules are deeply, deeply effective. This is how gambling becomes addictive to people, but also how many other things are conditioned into creatures.
The one you should choose depends on what it is that you want to do.
Variable Ratio
This is the schedule you should follow if you want to enforce a behavior that you want to happen often. An example in the hypnosis sphere (most especially my hypnosis sphere) would be getting someone to start barking as part of their regular means of talking and typing.
All that is necessary to do is encourage the behavior initially, start the engines with rewards (either hypnotic triggers or just praise), and to only do it sometimes and at random.
Variable Interval
This is the schedule you should follow if you want to enforce a more continuous behavior that you want to happen steadily. This would be something more like obedience, giving a reward for good behavior at random, but importantly within a reasonably similar range each time.
You can't do it one hour then 48 hours later then 12, you should have something like a range of variance and stick to that, so long as the exact timing is not anticipatable.
This can also be done for singular behaviors like barking, if you wish for the conditioning to be much slower, and also to simply not be related to an amount of times being done.
Both methods build conditioning that takes a very, very long time to undo or fall away. In the case of many behaviors, unlike what is shown in the charts, they can become a near-permanent part of someone's existence, never quite going away without active efforts to do so.
If you get someone to bark consistently, and they do not have a reason for it to stop, it will become a part of themselves in a way deeper than you may ever expect.
As a fair warning, these methods of conditioning, as stated prior, are essentially forming an addictive loop for someone. It is not nearly so strong as gambling in most cases, but with the wrong person, the wrong environment, and the wrong precautions, you can steer into very unhealthy territory very, very quickly.
...it can be quite fun to condition people, though.
So, to again answer the original question: not only is "prompting the response and not presenting the stimulus" perfectly okay to do, it's actually better than doing it every single time.

An induction can take many different shapes- it can be jarring when you come to expect one shape and find yourself being carried along another.
Maybe most of the inductions you follow are very conceptual of you. Each line telling you how you should feel- how you do feel, even. Mentally: How with each breath in an acute focus washes over you. Physically: How with each breath out, tension just flows out of your muscles. Emotionally: How nice it feels, how totally calm to be in that state. It becomes a formula, a simple recipe you can follow to sink again and again.
And then you try something new.
A visualization induction. Your internal state is no longer the focus, because the induction trusts that if you follow along, you'll sink in time. And so a world is paited around you. Rather than told how you feel, you're told what you see, what you hear, what you can interact with. And still, the story leads you into that same space of focus, of relaxation, of calm- you find the same trance without having to build it.
And the new shape is alien, but the feeling is the same.
And so you sink into it. What else is there to do?
i like the idea of triggers or phrases that put you in trance that aren't necessarily the generic or cliche ones, but that still make sense and convey what they are (as opposed to a random phrase or code). i think "indulge me for a moment" could work
a hypnotist is messing around, maybe playfully arguing with you, or trying to get you to do something, and you're uncooperative, and they say it almost casually, but just a little lower and closer to your ear, "oh, come on, just indulge me for a moment." and it's like you have to play along. maybe you're still fully aware and just can't resist it, maybe you're not aware of it and suddenly want to follow along. but you'll do it until they're satisfied.
