Hey y'all. I've recently been diagnosed with IBD. My doctor has me on a giant horse pill and it's made it so I don't poop a hundred times a day. But I'm definitely still miserable. What are your favorite tips and tricks for managing IBD?

You know what? I wish I didnt have a chronic illness. I wish that I was completely healthy, and able to keep up with all of my abled peers that are passing me by. But Iâm not. I am not completely healthy. I am not able to keep up with abled people. Iâm just now, after all these years and setbacks, beginning to accept it.
Its okay to wish that you didnt have this chronic thing.
Its okay to not be okay with the circumstances surrounding you.
But Iâve gotten myself through the last week by reminding myself that:
I will go at my own pace.
I will persist.
I will keep trying to keep myself at baseline.
I will accept my flares, and I will get through them.
Ive got nothing left in me but pain and spite, and goddamn it, Iâm gonna make it carry me through as long as I need it to.
I've taken all the meds I can and I still hurt so bad. My body hates me.

I uhhh... did a thing
just diagnosed with forehead kiss deficiency:/
This is torture. Solitary confinement for kids.
[ID: a white person in a blue FBI t-shirt, with long blonde hair and pink eye makeup, with the TikTok handle @elysian_cosplay. They sign as they speak, throughout the video. At some points, images appear behind them, of sources for the things they are discussing.
The CCs say: âHey, I want to cover something important. As some of y'all know, I am deeply engrained in the Deaf culture because I want to be an interpreter, and I have Deaf family. The world is slowly becoming more accessible, and I am proud of our progress.
However, I want to discuss this school. This is the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf. The school will be opening soon, but they do not let their students sign, they discourage it. And now they require masks, which means Lipreading is out the window.
This article [there is an article on screen behind them] points out that even without masks, teachers would often cover their mouths when they spoke. So they couldnât lip read. Their reasoning? To ensure that their students were âlistening with their EARSâ. Read that again.
Youâre taking away their [Deaf childrenâs] language, they are not being given Dynamic Equivalence. They have nothing. When are y'all gonna learn that Deaf kids donât need to be fixed? Please spread for awareness.â

I feel speechless, like this feels like shit autism speaks would pull trying to âfixâ kids
But like are there really people who think they can âfixâ deafness? Like where in the hell did that idea come from???
I have my first physical therapy appointment this afternoon and Iâm so excited but also terrified. My brotherâs girlfriend did an internship there and highly recommended them and said one therapist has a lot of experience with EDS. I want to get better but Iâm still nervous
Update: PT went amazing. They knew all about EDS and have a huge book about it. Iâm so excited to go on this journey
9 month update: I would die for my physical therapist. She knows how to help practically all of my pains. She has helped me so much. She has listened to me and given me hope
To any of my chronically ill friends who are awake right now because they feel too sick or are in too much pain to sleep; youâre not alone. I hope you get the rest you need, no matter how hard it is to get there. I see you and Iâm right there with you. Youâre awesome.

if you had to drop out of a class you are not a failure
if you had to take time off school you are not a failure
if you had to leave school for good you are not a failure
your worth is not determined by academia and this goes doubly so for disabled people and others for whom school is set against them

âIâll rememberâ is the ADHD demon talking. You wonât remember. Write it down.
Visual exhaustion is another symptom of ADHD, which means that if we see something enough times (or we see enough instances of something), it fades into background noise and we fail to notice it. This is why a lot of ADHD people can stand living surrounded by mess/clutter, because itâs just visual background noise to us. We donât even notice it anymore. So if we write something down and see the note stuck up somewhere a lot â or if we write a LOT of somethings down and have a lot of notes hanging around â then weâre even less likely to think of/remember the thing because itâs just part of the scenery now. ADHD is the Catch-22 of brains.
A very good thing to know about ADHD. Donât fall into the trap.
A lot of folks in the comments are talking about writing on themselves or setting phone/calendar reminders. Your mileage may vary on those. You may also want to consider ways to set a habit of referring back to a planner or similar every day/hour.
To get those brain juices flowing, check out this Buzzfeed article on different ways folks with ADHD stay on top of things.
Readers, let us know if you have specific advice for this situation!
This is why sticky note reminders donât work??

The adhd modes of food
1. You ate that burger so fast. You ate that burger so fucking fast and now the whole Red Robin is staring at you god what the fuck
2. You started eating like a normal person, but then you started talking or daydreaming and now the waitress is handing you the check but youâve still got half a plate of cold fettuccine
3. You were going to go out to eat, but then you saw a video in your YouTube recommendation that drew you towards it like moth to a flame, and now itâs 10 pm and youâve got an empty bag of tortilla chips in your hand and shame in your heart
4. Mac And Cheese
5. You got engrossed in a project, suddenly you feel like youâre going to die, or faint, or both? Oh. youâre hungry.
6. Youâre hungry. But every food you can think of sounds disgusting. Time for your 15th day of lunchables for breakfast in a row.
ok no need to call me out directlyÂ
âŚâŚ.I literally only ate lunchables all week until I ran out of them.
Funny how this is still extremely relevant and how I totally forgot about it (funny as in âclassic adhdâ)
