one thing you gotta appreciate in Carpenter’s The Thing is that it is also a horror from the POV of the monster. At the end of the day it’s a movie about a bunch of assholes isolated in the middle of nowhere doing what they can to survive, and by “doing what they can” I mean freaking out and screaming and throwing up. this also includes the Thing.

Everybody in the Thing, including the Thing: FUCK!!!!! THESE GUYS ARE GONNA KILL ME!!!!!!! FUUUUUCK!!!!!!

i am not the type to go uwuwuwu the monster was good it was just misunderstood . much less in this case in which the Thing is 1) terribly desperate 2) an alien with very little regard for human life and 3) a cheeky little shit. but I don’t exaggerate when I say the Thing is even more scared than the base guys. like they have flamethrowers.

I've been doing this thing on youraislopbores.me today where I ask people what one of their favourite fanfics is, and every time somebody gives me a specific answer, I locate the fic and let the author know in the comments that when an anonymous stranger was asked for their favourite fic, they answered with this one

I think it's so funny how we bred JOBS into dogs. I have two shih tzus and they were bred to be lap dogs. All they care about is looking cute and cuddling with people. Meanwhile my grandma has a border collie and that dog needs to feel so useful all the time, he acts like he will pass away if he doesn't have a job to do constantly

They were bred to bully livestock across the hills of Wales. This is basically a Border Collie that knows he is cute enough to get away with murder. If you get one and it doesn't have a job, it will apply its livestock-bullying instincts to YOU.
