Happy 250 years of occupying force anniversary
OP: Summer is here, and little animals have shown up on lotus leaves.
"All drugs are drugs" = a surprisingly radical position that will upset people right across the political spectrum
This means:
If you draw a hard line between "drug" and "medicine" based on current legality where you live (or any other criteria) you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think legality and/or prescription status tells you all you need about a substance's capacity to do massive harm to someone's body, mind or well-being you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think legality and/or prescription status tells you all you need about a substance's capacity to contribute meaningfully to someone's healing, function or happiness you've gone wrong somewhere,
If you think certain substances should be excluded from informed consent (either withheld or forcibly administered) you've gone wrong somewhere.
I do really love it when women write graphic and fucked up things. I feel like so often people react to fucked up fiction with “of course a disgusting man would write this 🙄” and it often carries an unspoken (honestly sometimes spoken) message of “a woman’s PURE and DELICATE and FEMININE mind could NEVER think of something this VILE”. Thank you women in fucked up fiction 🫡
Fucked up fiction by women you should 100% read:
okay this is a list of exclusively bangers, not even counting the fact that WE HEXED THE MOON is on here which obviously makes me feel joyous. but kushiel's dart fuckin RULES as did on sundays she picked flowers and patricia wants to cuddle. 10/10 no notes
I didnt even realize the Kushiels series was fucked up.
I consider the sleep beauty series, belinda, and cry to heaven by anne rice more fucked up. Also Borrasca by CK Walker, The Eyes are the Best Part by Monika Kim, and The Cipher by Kathe Koja

june is over... goodbye pride month, hello disability pride month!!
let's all be disabled this month... together 🤝
if you're not disabled yet: no need to worry! i can help. come closer.
happy disability pride month to mean cripples, nasty addicts, people with down syndrome who arent nice and talk constant shit, wheelchair users that WILL run you over, autists that dont care and arent about to pretend to, people who lie to their psychiatrists, people that sit on the floor in public places with no benches, amputees that lie profusely about "what happened", ; to the "noncompliant", the "drug seeking", the "mean", the "difficult" and the "undeserving", and so on and so forth, i love us all and we deserve the world actually mwah mwah
to people that hide contraband in their assistive devices. to people that do party tricks they arent supposed to and people who will spit on you if you ask them to do party tricks. to people that weaponise the infantalisation of disabled people for their own purposes (theft et. al.). to the people who "misuse" their medication and people who dont take it at all. to my mother, who takes out her hearing aids when she doesnt want to hear shit anymore but will still pretend to be listening so you dont catch on. to people who sleep all the time and to people with "abnormal" circadian rhythms who are unwilling to alter their sleep/wake cycle to best appeal to societal (and moral) expectations. to people that complain loudly about inaccessibility and refuse to try and "make it work". to people that charge money for invasive questions and people that pretend not to understand the question at all.
AAC users who swear profusely <3

The woman who popularized gender reveals wishes she hadn't, afaik.
(afaik- the woman who popularized gender reveals did so because she had a long history of miscarriages. The reveal was a celebration of the fact that one of her pregnancies had gotten far enough that there WAS a physical sex to reveal. It was never intended to be like... *gestures at modern gender reveals* all that. That same kid later came out as trans and yes, the family had a second gender reveal for that lol.)

L. David Mech, who popularised the idea that there were 'alpha' and 'beta' wolves in his 1970 book The Wolf, has spent the rest of his career trying to debunk this. (The original studies were done on captive wolves, and thus didn't simulate an accurate model of wolf pack dynamics.)
The idea that wolf packs are led by a merciless dictator, or alpha wolf, comes from old studies of captive wolves. In the wild, wolf packs a
In the wild, researchers have found that most wolf packs are simply families, led by a breeding pair, and bloody duels for supremacy are rare.
“What would be the value of calling a human father the alpha male?” says L. David Mech, a senior research scientist at the U.S. Geological Survey, who has studied wolf packs in the wild for decades. “He’s just the father of the family. And that’s exactly the way it is with wolves.”

Cherry Crumble
(vegan optional, aquafaba butter recipe below)
(Gluten free optional)
Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 40 mins
Total Time: 55 mins
Servings: 9/12
Yield: 1 (9x9-inch) crumble
Ingredients
• 1/2 cup "aquafaba butter" or melted butter
• 1 cup all-purpose flour or oat flour
• 3/4 cup rolled or old fashioned oats
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
Directions
1. Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2. Pour aquafaba or melted butter into a medium bowl, then stir in flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt until mixture resembles dry crumbs.
3. Press about 2/3 of the crumbs evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch square pan.
4. Top with cherry pie filling and sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
5. Bake in the preheated oven until cherries are bubbling and top is golden brown, 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes:
You can use fresh cherries when in season, or frozen cherries instead of cherry pie filling if you prefer. Can also use 2 cans of drained canned tart cherries.
For a crunchier topping add 2 additional tablespoons of oats to sprinkled on topping, remove from oven when oats are toasted. You can also broil this for the last couple minutes to achieve maximum toastiness.
For gluten free, replace flour with oat flour.
Aquafaba butter:
(It helps to have a blender, immersion blender, or hand mixer for this)
3 T aquafaba, room temp
7 T coconut oil
4 t canola or sunflower pil
2/3 t apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice
1/3 t salt
Heat coconut oil until so soft its almost melted, add sunflower or canola oil. Set aside until cooled at room temperature.
In bowl mix aquafaba, salt, and apple cider vinegar. Begin blending, slowly adding oil mixture. Continue blending until the mixture resembles mayonnaise. Can be used immediately for above recipe, or transferred to an uncovered container and refrigerated for normal butter use. Taste will mellow once chilled.
The note inside a bullet.
B-17 bomber is riddled with German anti-aircraft fire but miraculously survives. Later they discover the explosive shells were all inert; sabotaged by Nazi slaves working in armament factories.
Inside one empty shell is a written note: it's all we can do for you now.
The most important part of all this is that these small acts of bravery and noncompliance cannot be known as long as the enemy still stands, and might never be known. Just because it doesn’t seem like anyone is doing anything doesn’t mean it’s true. The best malicious compliance or subtle sabotage is the one that’s never detected, but makes ravages nonetheless.

The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?
I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.
And often, they are assholes, too.
the smaller tumblr gets, and the longer its userbase has been on it, the closer we get to the fascinating state where every single user has either consciously followed, not followed, or blocked every other user. like an increasingly high temp high pressure plenum of beef being roasted
