how yâall look at the (usually) adult man who impregnated her
pretty shitty how baseline human activities like singing, dancing and making art got turned into skills instead of being seen as behaviors
so now itâs like âthe point of doing them is to get good at themâ and not âthis is a thing humans do, the way birds sing and bees make hivesâ.
Whatâs sad to me about this is that Iâve noticed a lot of people saying they âcanâtâ do art, or dance, or sing. That because itâs turned into a profitable vocation, and thus has some implied heirarchy to it (ie: there are âmaster artistsâ, and âprofessional singers and dancersâ), people feel shame for not âliving up to unattainable standards,â when in reality, art for humans is very therapeutic and good for the soul.

They have nine beverages between the two of them
i have that painting ai app on my phone so i went ahead and took the libertyâŚ
What they have are five beverages and four waters. Water, by definition, cannot be a beverage.
The fuck do you mean water cant be a beverage?
So was anyone gonna tell me that water isnât a beverage or was I just stopped to find out in a Tumblr post about thirsty celebrities
Tumblr is the most random class we never intended to take. Where else can you learn the real meaning of the word beverage after 4th grade

Idea:
Medusa wasnât Cursed with Snake Hair and Scales.
She Already had Snake Hair and Scales and was still the hottest lady the Gods have ever seen.
To be fair Medusa is supposedly one of the three Gorgon sisters, so it makes sense that there would be a family resemblance
Yeah thatâs why I had to post this
Iâve read too many stories where itâs like âsheâs a Gorgonâ then near the end of the story they say âshe was cursed with snake hair and featuresâ
And Iâm just like ââŚWait.â
I think the only thing she was truly cursed with were the eyes that turn people to stone
someone draw beautiful medusa with scales and snake hair before being cursed p le a s e
I already had a little idea in my head soâŚ
The men yell, âsheâs a monster! She should be hunted down and killedâ. Theyâve said it before, theyâve tried it before. She steals women and devours them, the men yell. âShe comes in the night and takes women away when theyâre on a half-awake wander to the chamber pot or a drink of water. She steals them away to her lair and devours them whole. Why else do women not return?â
The women whisper, âsheâs a savior. She should be sought for sanctuary and love.â They whisper it around the well whenever they see the shadows of a bruise on their friendsâ bodies. Whenever someone who once was vivacious and bright is now dull and flinches from friendly touches. âGo in the night,â they say, âwhen heâs so drunk he sleeps heavily. Take only what he wonât notice is missing. Donât worry about clothes or food, she will provide. You will be cared for. Why would you want to return?â
She says, âwelcome home. You will be safe here,â with a soft smile and softer eyes. The snakes that curl around her head are more colors than youâve ever seen in your life. She tilts her head as she takes in your bundle of precious items, the bruises on your arm, your face, around your neck. A cloud passes over her face and the sun, and you see the snakes are black. The look passes, the cloud moves away, the sun strikes the snakes again and theyâre a shifting array of colors again. âCome, meet your sisters,â she says, gesturing as she turns and you look to see dozens of women coming out of the cave, smiling and happy. The group comes forward, splitting to either side of you, leaving a path to the cave and a path behind you leading back. âWelcome, youâre safe.â You step forward, peace settling into your heart. You will never return.
I love these stories about Medusa that go against the common myths
@monochromatic-stardust
The men at the drinking party sat around laughing at the younger man. âYou mean to tell us that a woman was beating her husband? Ha! What a jokester you are.â
âYou are probably just too embarrassed to admit you got that black eye from doing something stupid.â
âBesides even if you were telling the truth, just be a man and fight back! Or have you no guts at all? We all know your wife is a spitfire but she is still a woman, and you are a man.â
The young man was used to these responses from the older men of the village, to the point that his heart was turned to stone from it. His wife, whom he had been arranged to marry, was not like most of the other women he had met in his life. She was cruel and truly wicked and often drunk. She took advantage of the young manâs youth and lack of experience. Even if the people thought that she was a weak woman, she knew that she was stronger than her young husband, who had less strength than a hungry dog. And of course, no one would believe that a woman could overpower a young man like that.
On this day however, the young man decided to take a chance. He approached the well where he had often seen one woman in particular talking to the women who had vanished only a day or two before then, and she was there today.
âExcuse me. I have a quick question for you.â
The woman, who was just pulling her bucket out of the well turned to him somewhat surprised. âYes?â
âIsâŚis it trueâŚwhat the women whisper about the Gorgon in the woodsâŚthatâŚshe helps women whose husbands beat them?â
The woman seemed suspicious of him at first, âWhere did you hear that?â
âI justâŚâ the man looked around nervously before removing the bandages from his face to show her his purple-ringed eye and swollen lip.
The woman hesitated before repeating the words she often did to many others, â Go in the night,â she said, âwhen he-âŚshe is so drunk he sleeps heavily. Take only what she wonât notice is missing. Donât worry about clothes or food, she will provide. You will be cared for. Why would you want to return?â
Before the young man could even thank her, his wife stormed up behind him, âWhat are you doing talking to another woman!?â
The young man hesitated before the woman at the well said, âHe saw me struggling with my bucket and came to help me. Nothing more.â
âI see.â his wife grumbled, clearly still skeptical.
A few nights later, the young man fled. He was quiet and stealthy, until he got to the forest, where he quickly pushed forward into a sprint. He ran and ran, doing his best to remember the directions to the place that promised safety.
Once at last he came across the cave, he stood panting at its mouth before taking his first steps in. He soon found himself in a big lit chamber, women whom he had recognized as from his same village sat around. Some drinking and eating, others playing games, others braiding each otherâs hair. But when he entered, they all looked up at him, some in surprise, others in shock, or fear.
âWhat is a man doing here?â they whispered, âHas the village sent a mercenary after Medusa?â âAre we no longer safe here?â the whispers grew into an almost deafening cacophony of the same hopelessness he felt back in the village. Surely, he thought, these women who are fearful of their husbands would not want to welcome a man among them. Perhaps I should have stayed at home, and let them be.
However, when he turned to leave, he found himself face to face with the gorgon woman. Her eyes seemed to pierce deep into his very soul, as if to weed through the annals of his true self.
His mind raced, trying to think of what to say to defend himself against this protector of women, to justify his entrance into this blessed sanctuary for the broken and beaten. But before he could part his lips, she spoke.
âFear not my sisters. Look upon the wounds on his face. He too has come hear for safety from violence. Look into his eyes. He is afraid and hurt, as many of you were when you first came to me. Young man, you are welcome here, for this is a place of safety from cruelty. I know all too well that the hardships of life do not discriminate those of whom they strike against. Come, to your new home, and meet your sisters. Come and be safe.â
She gently took his bundles and began to carry them away, and when she looked back at him to see if he was following, he felt her eyes peer deep inside him, and begin to shed away the stone that had encased his heart.
(I hope you like this addition because male abuse victims also need happy endings.)
That fuckin smile at the end
To the worried person in the comments:Â
No, a hummingbirdâs heart will not stop if it stops moving. Youâre possibly thinking of Spoink, which is a Pokemon that supposedly powers its heart by bouncing, and as such canât stop moving. Hummingbirds donât sit often because theyâre busy looking for food, but they can and do sit. The females sit on eggs in nests, after all, and they do have to sleep.Â
Fun fact: the leg muscles of a hummingbird are so stripped down to save on weight that they cannot walk. They can step sideways along a branch or other perch, but they cannot go forward without taking flight.
However they absolutely do stop moving. In fact, hummingbirds hibernate! Overnight. Instead of sleeping. Because if they tried to sleep like a normal animal their hyperactive metabolism would mean that they starve to death before breakfast.
Unrelated fun fact: the primary Aztec god of war would take on the form of a hummingbird, and the souls of the bravest warriors were said to turn into hummingbirds in order to join him after death, presumably because every hummingbird is approximately four grams of pure concentrated asskicking which fears no man nor beast and will gladly throw down with somebody seventeen thousand times their size if offended.
this is a really cool post and i love seeing such a small bird but reading âNo, a hummingbirdâs heart will not stop if it stops moving. Youâre possibly thinking of Spoinkâ killed meÂ
Never have I ever reblogged something so fast and wholeheartedly BE A BITCH IF IT MEANS BEING SAFE, THEY AINâT WORTH IT
How the fuck do you get a gif this specific
Yakuza is just that kind of series
Wonât that only solve 75% of your problems?
The book solves half of your problems, not all of them
Say you have 8 problems. You read the book, and you have 4 problems. You read the book again gets rid of HALF, of those 4 problems. So youâre left with two. Out of the 8 problems, 6 were resolved and 6/8 is 75%.
Finally Tumblr can do math
So, what youâre saying, is that if I buy infinite books, I will solve all of my problems, because the sum as n approaches infinity starting at 1 of (½)^n equals 1, which would be 100% of my problems.
No, you will only ever be able to become infinitely close to solving all of your problems, like this:
Please stop explaining math to me im gay
thatâs why radioactive material is such a bitch! it only ever deteriorates relative to its mass so it will never completely vanish
This post is pushing me to the limit
But youâll never cross the limit.
For my nerds @xandroblathers @goodatbeinggone
You donât need to cross the limit, just reach it. The foregoing analysis assumes your apply the books sequentially so that each book eliminates 50% of the then current universe of problems. If, however, you apply the books simultaneously to the same universe of problems and each book eliminate 50% of those problems, with no duplication or piling up on one particular problem, you are problem free.
Actually, if you buy enough books, the value will eventually equal 1. Mathematically speaking, if begin with ½, then Ÿ, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, eventually your total will equal 1. It might take you more books than you can ever hold (or even purchase) but it is technically possible.
Jesus Christ, I feel like Iâm reading a chapter from âGoedel, Escher, Bachâ up in here!!!!!
Can I subject your observation to logical proof? ;)
@dinodaddy it is a reimagining of the famous âAchilles and the Tortoise Paradox.â Which is a fucked up paradox and hurts my brain and is evil.
@instructor144 you, of all people, should appreciate why I enjoy it so much⌠Lol
See now nobody is taking into account one variable. How many problems you have. For example: If you have 4 problems:
After 1 book you have 2 problems.
After 2 books you have 1 problem.
After 3 books you have 0.5 problems.
After 4 books you have 0.25 problems
And thatâs statistically insignificant. There you go, ya done.

I admire people who do exercise with no music like you are putting your body in pain while being alone with your thoughts⌠that´s double torture
It really freaks me the hell out that some people are just out there not in any pain what so ever. What is that even like? How do you even know youâre real? You look just like me and yet on the inside youâre fine? No random pains or aches or stabbing sensations?
