It actually kinda pisses me off that every time there’s an adaptation of some classic work coming out, there are takes like “maybe we should not judge the adaptation compared to the original”… I think if the creator doesn’t want their work to be compared and judged on comparison, they can make literally any other type of piece. I’m not arguing for a word for word adaptation - I think those are impossible, first of all, and just not fun to strive for. But slapping a recognisable title, names and plots into your work, and then turning around and asking people not to compare your work to the original is simply absurd lol

I truly don't understand this leftist desire to assassinate political opponents - do they think that if they kill enough Republicans they'd suddenly end up with a leftist in charge?

Have any of them thought through the idea that, if they do successfully assassinate Trump, J.D. Vance would become President, and in the wake of a successful assassination, direct the full force of the DoJ to make their lives a living hell? (which they should be doing now, but I digress)

I just don't see the big picture objective of trying to kill conservative figureheads. Is it "eliminate all the fascists until only progressives are left?" Is it "kill enough people and we might convince the fascist MAGA nazis to change their stripes?" Because right now, they sure are doing a good job of radicalizing people against their ideology.

Rational thought never enters into the equation.

There are two things going on here. One, leftists are emotional toddlers. They live in the emotional moment, and whatever they're feeling RIGHT NOW is valid and important. If they're upset, the most important thing in the world is making themselves feel better. They're constantly upset about Trump. If Trump died, they would feel better because someone they hate would be dead and they would still be alive. Meaning they "won".

The second is that modern leftism is built on the idea that every single problem you have can be solved if we just do _________ and we can't do ________ because Bad People are stopping it from happening. If we get rid of the Bad People, then the Good People will do ________ and everything will be Good and everything Bad will go away. Their entire ideology primes them to, not just accept, but yearn for the deaths of the Bad People because if they die then the Good Things can happen and everything will be perfect.

It's really ironic that many leftists insist the right are an actual, factual danger to the left (to justify violence), but also apparently think that murdering Trump wouldn't result in retributive terrorism and the right would all just bend the knee.

There's also a decent chance it would just propel someone even worse than Trump into power. And also alienate moderate left-wingers, and the Dems are already struggling.

For Pete's sake, which side of the aisle's more likely to be gun owners and have military experience? 'Cause I'm pretty sure it's not the left.

There's no way a successful assassination ends well, but idiots keep pushing it, because they irrationally hate Trump so much.

peak of irony is that i got an instagram reel on my fyp of an american woman complaining about how opressed she is and the next reel was an afghan immigrant woman thanking america for giving her all the opportunities she otherwise could have only dreamed of in her home country. it really put into perspective how spoiled and delusional leftists are lol. they don't know what real oppression is because they never experienced it. and no, some guy being mean to you once does not mean that you are oppressed.

Don't get me wrong, America isn't perfect-no country is, but to pretend that people in America are among the most oppressed people in the world is absolute insanity. Nobody who has any rational understanding of anything that's going on in the world now or anything that's happened during the course of human history would claim that America is some evil awful tyrannical dictatorship. We have our problems, to be sure, but collectively, we can do a lot to improve them and we still have freedoms that people in many other countries would gladly sacrifice almost anything for.

It's so interesting to me how I always told that "alicent loves helaena the most" is just bullshit, because in the show alicent is the reason of Helaena's sorrow. Alicent made her marry Aegon, made her the queen, made her feel small, betrayed the whole family, betrayed Helaena's children and husband. There's a reason Helaena always tries to get away from Alicent's touch. The new episode just proved me right once again. She made Helaena leave her daughter in the hands of the killers, she wants to make her abort a child Helaena wants and already loves, she wants to take control over her daughter's body and mind and she was doing it all of Helaena's life.

The only reason Alicent does anything "for Helaena" is because she sees her as her young self and the only person showAlicent loves is herself.

Man, I hate what they did to Alicent in HOTD. Selling her family out to the enemy so she can go have a quiet life in the woods with Helaena. Trying to convince Helaena to abort her child. Telling Helaena to leave Jaehaera behind so they can run away.

Show!Alicent doesn't love her children. She wants her sons dead and sees her daughter as an accessory, not someone with her own thoughts and desired. Alicent only liked Helaena because she did as she was told, unlike her brothers. Ugh, and let's not talk about her weird relationship with Rhaenyra after all these years. Book!Alicent would NEVER.
