yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.
I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.
im having feelings about the uffington white horse again
so essentially thereโs this cool horse drawn into the hills in england made out of chalk and itโs like 3,000 years old.
people carved trenches 3,000 years ago and filled them with chalk in the shape of a horse but whatโs interesting is that if you fail to maintain the horse by adding new chalk regularly, it will disappear. for 3,000 years, weโve been filling in chalk in this horse so it doesnโt disappear.
weโll never know what the purpose of the horse was originally. weโll never know if it had ritual or spiritual significance or if it was just art. but we do know that people maintained it then, and, even though the meaning of the horse has long been lost to time, we continue to maintain it now.
the people who made this horse are long dead, but they live through us still, donโt you think?
couldnโt agree more weโre best friends now
Im going to hold your hand when I say this. It is not realistic to expect yourself or your family to be able to survive solely off of food you have foraged or grown in a garden. People with more knowledge and experience have tried and failed. What do you think happened to all of those communes in the 60s? Most of them failed. Famine and malnutrition have been constant companions to humanity until industrialized farming and food supply lines came along.
It feels like a uniquely American capitalist take to assume these traditions will make you completely self sufficient. You need a lot of people, a lot of time, a lot of knowledge across a lot of subjects, and a lot of luck to provide for everyone's nutritional needs.
So should you even bother trying to be more self sufficient with your food? I argue yes. Foraging and gardening are fun and will teach you so much about many things. They are deeply rewarding activities that can supplement your diet. There are herbs I haven't bought in years because I grow my own. There are dishes I can only make with foraged ingredients because I can't get them in stores.
You may not have the power to do everything, but that doesn't mean your efforts are wasted. Getting 5% of your nutritional needs from food you have grown or foraged, even for a season, is a massive accomplishment.
And what you do grow, as little as it may be, you should absolutely be proud of and savor it! This salad has cucumbers and kale your grew. Your lemonade has the leaves of the mint from your patio planter crushed into it. You are snacking on the cherry tomatoes you grew with some balsamic and salt. A LOT of us are entirely disconnected from where our food comes from, and how much time effort land and money goes in to generating enough to feed the country and more in excess. It is not a moral failing to depend on the modern infrastructure that was designed with the purpose to feed so many so efficiently. Just take the time to look at this small green thing that you helped come from the soil and is giving you something delicious in return.
i forgot to post this during (mer)may. but it's fine. mermaid lyria

For those who don't know: Ikumi Nakamura is the woman who was senior artist on Bayonetta, and designed the titular character along with Hideki Kamiya. Their greatest moment of bonding was over their insistence that Bayonetta keep her glasses on at all times. Nakamura cannot go to horny jail. She is the warden.
Happy pride month to her and her exclusively
she made a comic about the experience on twitter

When my mother forgets a word๏ฟผ, she is the queen of coming up with new words. Words that would take a third National Treasure movie to fully decipher.๏ฟผ I was talking to her yesterday, and she said this: โYou know the time for los jibbities is coming up๏ฟผ. You must be so excited!โ๏ฟผ Oh, is it time for los jibbities already?๏ฟผ I must have missed it on my calendar. ๏ฟผAre we celebrating something? โOf course๏ฟผ! We should all be celebrating, shouldnโt we?โ ๏ฟผOK, so los jibbities is a happy thing.๏ฟผ Itโs not like something is giving you the heebie-jeebies, which would have been my one and only guess.๏ฟผ โLos heebie-jeebies? Now youโre making things up.๏ฟผ..and this is my show.โ Youโre right. The time for los jibbities is coming up๏ฟผ. Is this a season? โYes, the season for love. The season for pride.โ๏ฟผ OK, los jibbities. โYeah, sound it out.โ Losโฆjibbities. LGBTs! โSรญ, mira cuz youโre gay!โ โYou couldnโt just say pride season? You couldnโt justโฆ *laughs*
HAPPY LOS JIBBITIES EVERYBODY!!!

I donโt think itโs possible to adequately state how fucking ballsy and skilled this player is considering the EXTREMELY specific timing of that dodge and catching the spear attack WHILE TAUNTING BETWEEN EACH THROW

I figured they were referring to this gif
Since they do the same pose and it really seems like the opposite outcome lol

VERB STEM + ๅงใใ - BEGIN TO DO SOMETHING, START TO DO SOMETHINGโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ See all JLPT N4, N3, and N2 grammar revision points HERE โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
Grammarใๆๆณ๏ผ
Verb (stem) + ๅงใใ
The stem of a verb is the masu-form of the verb without the ใพใ ending. E.g. ้ฃในใพใ -> ้ฃใน, ้ฃฒใฟใพใ -> ้ฃฒใฟ, ่กใใพใใ-> ่กใ.
Add ๅงใใ to the end of these stems to form the meaning โbegin toโ.
Meaningใๆๅณ๏ผ
This grammar point is used when you are describing a verb that begins to be enacted. For example, to begin to walk, to begin to talk, to begin to study, and so on.
Examplesใไพใ๏ผ
ๆฅๆฌใงใฏใๅฌใซใชใใจใ้ชใใใ้ใๅงใใพใใ In Japan, when it becomes winter, snow begins to fall.
้ใๅงใใพใ is made from the verb ้ใ (to fall), the stem of which is ้ใ, withใๅงใใพใ added.
