giving increasingly loud sighs as I wait for my crush to ask "what's wrong?" so I can say I'm in a state of depression unless I can touch someone's boobs with no bra
I stop once I start getting short of breath
[Your crush, on the phone to someone unseen] Yeah I think she needs to be put down, her breathing-- yeah I know it can be a problem for her breed, but it's getting really bad.
I'M NOT A DOG??????
[clearly less interested now] Oh.
wait! au au
[walking over the distant horizon, towards the West]
AU AU!!! AU AU!!!!! π
i hate that concerns about urban gardening/foraging safety is often met with "What are you, a cop?" scorn. I believe it's a suspicion of anything that hinders the punk/anti-system urgency to jump in immediately and do whatever feels right.
Safety, ethics, and sustainability are all a part of urban gardening and foraging. I'm sorry that means you need to do homework before you can do anything, I know that sounds lame. But life is complicated.
I know anti-intellectualism is viewed as activist these days, but like, surely you don't want to literally eat lead, right?
Letβs check in and see how those rascally solarpunk kids are doing, surely theyβve learned by now thatβ¦..
Daily reminder: Leafy greens like kales uptake all those delicious heavy metals in urban soils like lead and cadmium.
Donβt eat sidewalk-crack kale.
Here's some cool references from the EPA on safe urban gardening:

When I need to remind myself to put something on the grocery list and I don't have my phone on me, I use the Scrabble tile magnets on the fridge. But sometimes I don't have enough of the right letters and have to get creative.
The list is getting longer and we are running out of letters.

you ever realize how able bodied people just are not expected to do things that cause them excruciating physical pain? like theyβre just. not
if i shouldnβt use my cane because i can sometimes technically walk without it, it would just hurt like a motherfucker then abled people should no longer be allowed to use potholders to take things out of the oven because i mean
well they could technically pick up a hot pan with their bare hands. it would just hurt like a motherfucker
*sees an abled person using potholders*
i just think itβs really sad that youβre giving up on yourself like that
if you use potholders how will you ever build up the calluses necessary to pick up scalding hot metal without burning yourself so severely? itβs like youβre not even trying to get better
I mean, my mother uses potholders, but sheβs in her 70s. Youβre justβ¦ too YOUNG to be resorting to potholders at your age.
If you start using potholders, your inability to hold hot metal will only get worse.
As a professional cook I was, and still am, able to pick most stuff up out of an oven without a pot holder. I might get blisters and maybe it will hurt, but usually it wonβt
AMAZING! based on this one specific individualβs experiences i will now safely assume that itβs possible for anyone to overcome hand pain & leave potholders behind for good!!! as long as you want it bad enough, anything is possible!! make this story go viral so that all those self pitying losers who still use potholders know that thereβs no excuse
ββ‘LIKE & SHARE IF YOU WERE INSPIRED!!!β‘β
recently saw a comment section full of people, primarily women, talking about loving living with their best friend and being sad about having to live separately one day. some people talking about missing living with their best friend, some talking about βgettingβ to live with their best friend βuntilβ they find partners. saw one person mention that moving out to move in with a partner felt like a divorce. it makes me so genuinely sadβ¦ all these people recognizing the joy they can find living outside the norm, letting themself live with a friend instead of a romantic partner, but still feeling like they have to live with a spouse eventually. like itβs not even a decision, just an inevitability.
similarly, it makes me sad when someone shares their happiness from living with a friend with others and the biggest response is people insisting/assuming they must have a secret unrecognized romantic connection. just taking over a moment of joy to insist theyβre wrong about their own life and feelings; all to reinforce the lifestyle everyone is already expected to conform to eventuallyβ¦
okay let's actually do this properly

THE VERY FIRST STAR TREK SLASH FIC PUBLISHED
βA Fragment out of Timeβ, published in 1974. Kirk / Spock. page 1 page 2
I had to share it with you because I canβt stop laughing, and every time I reread it it just gets funnier and fUNNIER
This fan fiction is older than the push-through tabs on soda cans.
Your grandma wrote this on her Commodore 64.
I miss my Commodore 64
Oh my dear, sweet children. The Commodore 64 came out in 1982. This was produced on a typewriter and probably mimeographed. And while it may seem funny now, it took more courage to write and distribute this than you will ever Β know.
Reblogged for that last comment.
respect your elders
Children, in the olden days fanfiction was written on a typewriter, copied and sent by snail mail. Getting one one of those letters from across the world was every bit as exciting as getting a notification that your favorite writer posted a new fic.
Itβs been said before, but the fact that this fic begins with the dialogue assertion βWeβre by no means setting a precedentβ is endlessly amusing to me.
Diane Marchant changed all our lives. May she rest in peace.
The precedent line is especially amusing when you bear in mind that βA Fragment Out of Timeβ is not only the first Star Trek slashfic to be published in a widely distributed magazine: itβs believed by some to be the first slashfic of any kind to be widely published.
In 1974 it was illegal to send pornography through the USPS. So distributing fic like this via mailed newsletter was literally dangerous. And they knew it.

I'm not sure if this has been done already, but I thought I'd try my hand at it.
A quiet moment aboard the Enterprise
partially-managed mental illness is so fucking funny i'll be sitting around doing my job and suddenly think "wow i hate myself" and immediately get confused because, like, that's not TRUE! i love myself so much. who are you to talk to me like that
liking star trek is a red flag. it's also an orange flag. and a yellow flag. and a green flag. and a blue flag. and a purple flag. liking star trek is gay. YOU are GAY.

I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
"Why should someone else benefit from my hard work?"
if it benefits you, why is it a problem if it also marginally benefits someone else?
