god forbid Black women have fun
Black woman invents or popularises a phrase -> it enters the vernacular and circulates widely amongst Black and nonblack people -> people removed from the phrase's initial context read it too literally, do not interpret it with sensitivity, assume that the ideas expressed when people use it are shallow / "over"-sexualised / problematic in some way or another that mirrors their feelings about Black people as a whole -> there is a backlash where a supposedly more 'thoughtful,' 'subversive,' etc. alternative to the initial phrase is offered, implying that the initial phrase contained none of that complexity within it -> rinse & repeat
think of your most hated sensory experience. which sense is it bothering the most?
sight
hearing
smell
touch
taste
one of the less common ones (ex. balance, interoception, etc)
I have no sensory dislikes

been sort of obsessively combing through articles and websites and resources about top surgery and recovery more and more as I gear up to My Big Day and while I hate to report I may have gotten through most of the scientifically rigorous and reputable sites I am at least, now, stumbling over some of the funnier AI generated slop images i've ever seen in my quest for Patient Information
They missed. 😔

Turning to dust seeing people react to the part in The Incredibles where Elastigirl sighs about being built like a Pixar mom. Them needing it explained that it played differently in the 2000s because beauty standards were different back then.
So fucking old that I remember camming on chaturbate and having a black fan feel the need to explain his complement and that being thick can be desirable in his culture. Because we were kinda still at the tail end of white women being ashamed of having asses. Probably just a few months before the Kim Kardashian breaking the internet thing.
You know she doesn't even have as fat of an ass anymore? Society is regressing. There's still time to right the ship though. Go edge to pics of fat asses.
its important to note the difference between beauty standards and beauty trends. while there have been efforts to put forth body postivity/neutrality overwhelmingly the standards of beauty have remained unchanged over the past couple centuries due to of course white beuaty standards, white supremacy and colonialism. that being the standard of women to be slender in most societies. for a moment on tiktok there was a discussion of the difference between what constitutes as fat with regard to white american vs. black american cultures as footage of the singer addison rae sparked controversy with many white women calling addison, a grown woman who not particularly skinny but also definitely not plus sized as fat. white women were ashamed of having asses because of racism. antiblackness in particular. a fat ass is not only seen as fat but its seen as 'ghetto' and 'classless'. even within the black american culture and community a fat ass was seen as desirable but only on a non fat body. the kardashians being the tastemakers of white american popular culture for the past odd 20 years or so are social chameleons, they change their bodies and appearances on whats popular at the time. kim and all of her sisters notably have had a thing for black men going all the way back to the 90s and wanted to attract what they desired so they gave themselves themselves the physical attributes of whats deemed attractive in regards to black femininity. regardless of the racial ambiguity of the kardashians theyre ambiguous enough that theyre still able to associate themselves with the white wealthy elite. hip hop rap and black aesthetics arent as mainstream currently that we're in our second term of trump's america and there's push on all fronts to go back to an era of either the lionized european frail white beauty the stick thin baywatch big boobed blonde of the 80s or the plain unassuming 50s housewife. society is regressing because the racism that never left is becoming increasingly louder and more mainstream and normalized. i dont know if 'edging it to fat asses' is the solution but yall do you.
Im trying to educate y’all about how a hatred of fatness and additionally fat asses stems from antiblackness and this is your response.
earlier this week Twitter user ppuccin0 tweeted about a fashion article that advised against tops with large floral patterns, saying the wearer was in danger of looking like a "ロマンティックおばさん," or a "romantic auntie." the tweet went viral with many agreeing that a "romantic auntie" sounded like a very nice thing to aspire to be, and some even posted illustrations or photos tagged with the trend

fantasy: the kingdom has been ruled by one family for 10,000 years
science fiction: a new species evolved in 30 years
White Gauze, Robert Mapplethorpe, 1984
"[These images depict] two figures wrapped in white, blanched gauze, their heads bound together into a cocoon like, sculptural form. Like many of Mapplethorpe’s photographs, a careful balance is created here between bondage and freedom, ecstasy and pain."
