Pottery sounds terrifying to me. Every post I see is like "Here's this awesome art I made!! Pray for me that it survives The Kiln™ :')" I don't think I could cope with making art that could quite easily blow up and I have no way of controlling that. You guys are true heroes.

#things don't explode randomly though. there is always a Reason #wedge your clay! dry slowly and thoroughly! do not open the kiln until it's under 100C ideally under 50C no not even to peek #it's not really difficult to not have things explode in the kiln but it does require patience at many stages of the process #glazing though. glaze will teach you not to have hopes #every stoneware firing i discover something new that can go wrong with glaze :|

last week I got so annoyed by how awkward and bulky the wire binding was on my old sketchbooks and how hard it made it to line them up on a shelf that I went through and rebound them all using embroidery thread, and then later added some 3-inch book spine tape to reinforce them and also so I could label them. that last part's not necessary and I'm 100% certain there's probably a better or at least nicer looking way of doing all of this but it's what I muddled out and it works pretty well!

nobody ask me why I started so many sketchbooks simultaneously in 2020. or maybe it's self-explanatory.

#brilliant solution to this problem. i am going to steal it #i also love to work in a wirebound whatsit then hate storing them #or i mean i would hate it if i ever finished up a wirebound thingy instead of using some pages then ripping those out #what a great incentive to a. not do that anymore & b. use the whole thing up so it can get bound and sit pretty on the shelf
